Im more and more agreeing with a Camel Cav unit

It does say in the Battletome that Warriors of the Wind Temple have "long-limbed riding beasts bearing them into battle at breakneck pace", so a Camel-like creature would not be far off.  Personally, I want a large flying fox-faced Spirit of the Wind model.

I'll have to keep an eye out for Sisters of the Watch and try to get a decent deal on them. I did want to use them but they aren't the easiest to find or collect.

Sisters of the Watch are the alternative build for Shadow Warriors, which are on the front of the box.  They are still available from GW.

Did they ever actually say The Old World is going to be a normal 28mm game?  Could it turn out to be something like Epic was for 40k?

The smaller scale would both make it need less sculpting work as it would be hard for Forgeworld to make as many new kits as you would need for all those old armies and I can't see them using too many old models again as they would want you to buy new stuff.

It would also make it way less expensive to get together full armies, I wasn't in the hobby when Fantasy was still around but as far as I know a reason it died was that it had a pretty high hurdle of entry in cost and number of models which a smaller scale would help to alleviate.

Maybe not as small as Epic was but still smaller than 28mm?

If the Old World is in Epic scale then I would be interested.  AOS gives me what I need for 30mm? scale, both painting and playing.  If I could field a true army of hundreds of figures in small scale, however, that would offer a completely different play style and hobby experience.  I could even cope with a rank and file rules system if it was not overly complicated.  It's a long way off, though, so no need to worry about it at the moment.

  4. I think they're now at a points value where they are worth taking - I've used my old Dragon Blades as them.  They are not bad on the charge with the Dreadlord's CA and are fairly durable, esp in Tempest Eye where they are on a 2+ save In the first battle round (rerolling 1s with Mystic Shield).  They offer a different role to the Demi-gryphs, and it's nice to have the choice.

agreed on diversity. problem is: now they have the turtle AND the eels (with +1 to save) and they were already doing very well

EDIT: just to be clear, I am happy for IDK players and love to see more turtles around. I just find it unfortunate that the factions which received the most from broken realms:morathi were those already "strong" competitively speaking.

Perhaps Eels will go up in points in the winter FAQ - if we get one, that is.

Scored a win in Knife to the Heart today vs StoD thanks to the battalion's retreat and charge. I sling shot 6 rockguts to the objective, so definitely don't sleep on the battalion's potential.

Would have had my first game with the new rules today had it not been for tier 4, but its good to hear that the sub-faction has mileage.  It's also nice to know that others are getting games in and thank you for sharing them with us.

Yeah Cowlords replace normie high elves.

They didn't replace normie High Elves, they added to normie High Elves.  Other Normie High Elves are on the way with Swordmasters.  Taking something to eleven doesn't automatically replace one to ten.

the way i though  they could have done the battle tome was have three different allegiance with Moonclan (w/ Troggoths) as one, Spiderfang with specific tailor rules for them as another, and then use the Current Gloomspite rules as the Soup allegiance for both army

That's pretty much how the Orruk tome works and I wouldn't mind at all, but there are four distinct groups in Gitz rather than two and each requires its own sub-allegiance - preferably with a couple of tribe options each.  It's a lot to ask for, but one can hope.

to be fair, i don´t think gloomspite were writen with the idea of 4 diffrent armies in a singel book, but more as a mix and match book between all the diffrent "subfactions", alot like the Cites of Sigmar battletome. While it´s possible to run an army of only squigs, the army might work, but gets alot better if you mix in a few stabbas.

With these new Celestial sub-factions, it appears as though they may have come to realise that many Gloomspite devotees have particular favourites within the overall faction.  We can only hope that the next Battletome will better reflect this while still offering a variety of Gitz soups.  Perhaps a version of the Orruk Warclans set-up might fit the bill.

Well, part of it is fluff. But honestly, I like the variation and to deal out even more damage with the few attacks the Rockguts have, even if the +1 Damage is only on 6's to W.
But technically two Stomping MM could be also fun and saves those extra 10pts to get the arachnacouldron for the Hag instead of the scuttletide.

Have fun with your 3000 point mega battle and let us know how you get on.

...and one more artefact for the Hag... maybe give the Aetherquartz studded hide to her, the Glowy Howzit to the general and the dankhold boss a more fighty weapon like aqshy's exploding 6's or Chamon's re-roll 1 to W? Good combo with dankholdd boss ability me thinks.

    Any thoughts/remarks/changes to the list?

Wouldn't it make more sense to have two Stomping MM battalions, since the battalion ability is so much better?

Balewind Vortex is your friend. Now you have a 12 inch threat for it. Or better yet, because you're running morathi, you can use one of her 3 casts to cast the spellportal. Now you have a 27 inch threat range (3" from sorceress to 1st mirror, 18" to second, and 6" from there). Nobody is safe from that

I have the Spell portals built and primed, but I always struggle to fit them in a list, not only because of their points but also having to have two Sorceresses to cast Portals and then Vitriolic Spray plus the sacrificial unit.  It always felt like a big points sink for something requiring two dice rolls to succeed.  At least in Anvilguard, with no two-casting wizard.  I was hoping we might get a 2 cast Sorceress on Black Dragon, but alas no such luck.  I shall paint up the Portals anyway and give them a go in Har Kuron with Morathi.

I've avoided investing in a Balewind, as I was under the impression that it was on the way out - at least you can't seem to buy one anymore from GW.  Having lots of models still on squares that have no current use in the game has made me slightly reticent when it comes to buying models whose future is uncertain.  Although, I am glad I made the leap of faith to transfer my Dark Elves onto rounds (unlike Greenskins, they were playable in the time of  no points).

A big part of morathi's value is her indestructibility. You just aren't getting value from her if you arent throwing the shadow queen forward. Morathi-khaine is a useful spellcaster, but you're losing out on a lot of what you paid for if you arent willing to use the big snake as a destructive disruption. People shouldn't be targeting little morathi anyways. She can't die, and she has plenty of debuffs on her warscroll/with lookout sir. I guess what I'm saying is you don't need to invest into her specifically. She does what you need her to on her own.

Also, id look into taking a different spell for her. Her +1 is useful, but vitriolic spray goes off on an 8. Let a sorceress cast it with +2, and morathi can carry sap strength or withering for more reliability. Trying for a 7 is far from reliable. Trust me, I got one mind razor (cast on a 7) out of 10 attempts with morathi at my last tournament. The +1 didn't help enough.

What you say makes a lot of sense and keeping the Shadowqueen back more than one turn would be wasteful, and probably wasteful even then.  Getting a Sorceress within 6" and alive to cast Vitriolic Spray was a struggle in Anvilguard.  Perhaps with Traitor's Banner and the Shadowqueen as a distraction, a Sorceress may stand a better chance in Har Kuron.  Thank you for the input.

Nearly every unit available to this city falls into the category of high number of attacks with low rend and 1 damage. Executioners, darkshards, corsairs... they all force a lot of dice, but don't average all that highly.  Its great for lightly armored units, but high save units shrug it off. I think for this reason, a sorceress with vitriolic spray is a must. Cast the spellportal or at least give her a balewind and suddenly those darkshards threaten nearly every unit in the game. But otherwise, you're going to lack for rend without morathi and some snakes of some kind.

I've been considering taking Morathi and giving her Vitriolic Spray.  Keep the Shadow Queen back for a bit and with a Sorceress with the Traitor's Banner next to Her, She'll be at -2 to hit in combat and -3 against missiles (or more with Word of Pain).  A unit of Executioners or Blackguard in front and She can be right up in the enemy without being in much danger.  Anyway, that's the plan - just have to buy and paint Morathi :)

One Idea which I've had that could be useful is positioning Myari inbetween two units of Sentinels. With -1 to hit from Shining Company and another -1 from her spell, they could be protected against ranged attacks and targetting her means -2 as well with look out sir!.

The difficulty, I think, will be finding 220 points to fit them in.  I agree, though that a Sentinel heavy list would benefit from them.
