  1. I only faced 2 units of 2 once and a unit of 4 and a leader yesterday. They are very good but not unkillable. I didn t know about their once per battle ability from the leader for a unit to shoot in the hero phase and didn t properly deployed because of it. In the future I ll stay more than 24" away from the unit of 4 at deployment so I don t lose my screens in the hero phase

Dealing with 10 of them sounds like a nightmare though but I ll probably will never face that in my local meta

may i ask why you summon so many infernal enrapturesses? I love the model but (having not yet played a game with Slaanesh) am struggling to get it into lists but love the idea of summoning it. But three? Would love to know why?

When I look at the summoning table to me it looks like only worth summoning Keepers or blocks of Daemonettes!

It s our only summonable unit that can shoot. And you can shoot on the turn it gets summoned whereas charge is far from guaranteed on a 9 with 2D6

  3. Interresting topic. Thanks for bring it up outside of faction specific threadd

As some mentionned I d say the following are the most important criteria for me to make a good battletome in this order:

    1 External balance

    2 Faction identity

    3 Internal balance

Since we re including warscrolls in the battletome appeal, I like the warscrolls to have a few relevant  abilities each that are somewhat unique, clear and short. I m ok with a center piece having more abilities but rules bloat turn me off

  4. 1 viceleader*

    1-3 infernal enrapturess*

    40 Deamonettes *

    1 keeper of secret *

    1 exalted bladebringer chariot

    3 seeker chariots

    5 seekers

    * most often summoned in my games

I am currently assembling my unit of 3 seeker chariots to summon something that can do mortal wounds as we re very lacking in that regard. I m just concerned how much empty space I need to summon those guys in. Summoning a Viceleader won me the game last night as it was the only base size I could summon on an objective with enemies outside of 9 inches

  5. Question for the group as this just hit me. Did our coalition heroes just lost the ability to take our tome artefacts by loosing our sub faction keywords in the winter faq?

(Until we get a new tome and our artefacts are no longer sub faction specific they re now limited to universal artefacts while chaos coalition heroes in other tomes are fine)

Also can we still summon from a Slannesh coalition hero or did we lose that as well? (I think this one we haven't  lost yet)

Dumb question; I just bought 3 Slaangors for 40% off due to the Christmas box; is it worth offering a box of Blissbarb archers NiB (in shrink wrap) for another 3 NoS? Are the points down enough to be usable? Plus I just love the look of them.

Currently not worth it. But who knoes what gw will do to them in the future. I have 6 myself all on sprues

  7. Got my first game against the new Nurgle battletome today and who would have guessed Slaanesh liked the Disease point mechanic so much! I summoned 1 enrapturess and 2 keeper of secrets this game. Our speed is also impressive in that match up, I could 100% dictate where I wanted the fights to happen and isolate the targets I could not deal with

    Festus the Leechlord (150)
    - Allies

I really like your list. Festus fills a gap in the list to deal against high armor. What would be your general command trait. Retreat and charge? I ve run a few times a general with the hurler of obsenities command trait to reduce the ennemy armor with 10 chaos knights w lance on the charge that should flatten a gargant

You're right on a point-for-point basis, but that's seldom how it actually plays out on the table. Two units of myrmadesh will outperform them, yes, but you actually have to get them into range, with less movement and shorter weapon ranges that's a bigger ask at times than it seems. On top of that, not all units will have all-out-defense, and/or mystic shield. That's a big part of why I advocate 2 units, forcing the hard decision on your opponent. On top of that they're fairly resilient, and will actually stick around long enough to generate depravity throughout the game. My last tournament game against SoB was won largely on the back of a unit of twinsouls.

Did you have 2 units of 10 twinsouls?

Congrats on your win against Sons. I have never beaten them after 10+ games against them with various mid tier armies I play

Well, even that being said, against 2+ saves they're still the best non-hero unit we have. Comparing combat output between 10 twinsouls rerolling hits, 5 painbringers (even in a unit of 10 the 1" reach and coherency will generally only allow 5 to swing) and 5 slickblades:

    20211221_225218.jpg.387208745a53f0905ea7593a18efb4cd.jpg

The twinsouls have it, really. With 2 damage each every failed save is worth 2 failed saves from anything else we have, and anything short of a keeper is only going to be -1 rend at best. If we're super desperate for additional rend we do have the option of allying in Festus for his permanent -1 save spell.

From the average data you are showing, on a per point basis, both the slickblades and the painbringers outperform the twinsouls against 2+ armor. The ineffectiveness of twinsouls against high armor is even worse than what the average shows as their standard deviation is also much higher than the other 2 units making their damage potential unreliable on a unit that will not tank

Yesterday I played a match against a classic SBG Nagash Kastelai list.
He deployed his Nagash 19'' away from my deployment zone, so I took my chances, deployed my two Wurgoggs on the front line, made my Great Hunter pregame move, took first and gave it a go.

The first Wurgogg (without glowin tattooz) died after only dealing 5 wounds. BUT my second one with glowin tattoz rekt Nagash to zero and had 4 wounds left himself. It was glorious and the game was basically over for him from there.
It is a lot of fun, BUT it was only because he misplayed.

Some lucky rolls and unlucky ones on your opponent since he also has a 4+ ward against mortal wounds.

maybe a WD update signals that a new battletome is not coming soon, but who knows?

I would love for the no WD update for Hedonites of Slaanesh to signal a new upcoming battletome. Still, a formal apology from GW on page 1 of the book would be nice! 😀

I imagine with the preview of what's coming next week not mentioning it we're at least one more week out. They said December, but they also said December last year and it wound up being late January.

Really? Did they mention the 40k balance update in the sunday preview the week it got released? My guess is the faq is dropping this week

I agree! They look down right nasty at first glance.

What are you guys hoping for in the balancing FAQ? I don't expect much for us, though I can dream. If I had my way, these would be my changes...

    1. Add Coalition rules like Nurgle is getting. Essentially letting us ally Ironjawz and Kruelboyz units without sacrificing our allegiance abilities or being forced to take big waaagh. (I would totally convert a beast-skewer killbow out of some big Stabbas).

    2. Reduce Kragnos down to some where around 580 points, or give him a 5+ ward save and put him around 650.

    3. Drakkfoot: Change the wording of their ability to "An opponent's unit cannot make wards saves against wounds and mortal wounds caused by friendly Drakkfoot units". (Right now it only works for attacks. Spells and other abilities get ward saves as normal. This makes it no ward saves period).

    4. Add the following to the Bonegrinz allegiance ability: "The spirit of gorkamorka rule also applies to shooting attacks made by friendly Bonegrinz units". (This fits with their fill the sky with Arrows theme, and would make them more viable).

    5. Wardokks have their wizard keyword replaced by the Priest keyword. (We have plenty of casters, and the whole grand alliance is starved for priests. Having access to one would not only shake up our game, but all those who can ally with us too.)

    6. Increase the range of squiggly Curse to 18. (3" vs heroes only? Utter hot garbage.)

    7. Mork's Boney bits being returned to their previous version. (Current versions is useless in some match ups, and a consistent +1 with a lower ceiling is preferable to a situational bonus).

    8. Reduce the cost of Savage Orruks to 150. (It doesn't seem right that they are the most expensive unit in our army).

I think that these changes could put us back to tournament tier, and help add some list variety to the army. What would you guys like to see?

I don t think we ll see any changes in this update unfortunately. The book is just too recent, they also have not been tracking Bonesplitterz individually in gw metas article which bothers me as Ironjaws is in Orruk Warclans the Pretifex Elite of OBRs

The one I believe is Kragnos getting some point decrease and/or getting a ward save

I'd personally like to see a Host/subhost without summoning but with something to make up for it, like an ability that'd give the units a boost for depravity instead. Or just have these boosts available for everyone and they can pick and choose between summoning and buffs. It'd be nice if summoning wasn't essential to the faction's playstyle.

Yes, I wouldn t mind a subfaction focused on something else. Our summoning if not nerfed is shaping up nicely against whats coming with Nurgle diseases
