So I've been giving a lot of thought to how to expand the below based on my last game (couple of posts up) before my next game (not sure what army I'm up against so thinking more of where are the obvious gaps for a balanced list)

    Lurid Haze

Lord of Pain - General - Feverish Anticipation, Oils of Exultation

    Lord of Pain

    Sigvald

    10 Symbaresh Twinsouls

    10 Symbaresh Twinsouls

    22 Blissbarb Archers

The Keeper of Secrets is out so I have 425pts to play with. I feel like I'm hitting a bit of a wall for inspiration the obvious gaps are either a Wizard, something speedy for objective grabbing and rapid support, and perhaps an anvil unit of some kind as the Twinsouls can't be everywhere. My concern over the Wizard element is wanting something reliable as another character forces me to two drops - not a deal breaker but comes with its risks as I prefer the security of usually picking who goes first. Does anybody have any suggestions to try?

Otherwise my instinct is to make room for Glutos again at the cost of one of the Lords of Pain as he does a couple of those jobs on his own and the trade off in hitting power from the constant rerolls is a little more durability from his -1 to hit bubble.

Glutos is a good pick taking the space of 1 lord of pain. He is our best caster, he is not slow with run and charge starting turn 2 and can be an anvil on it s own. If you don t mind fielding allies, belakor is also a good pick. You d go to 2 drops but his dark master ability helps offset the one drop adantage

  2. Gw changes the points enough that we don t need to play smaller points as our standard game. My 2k aos1 khorne army jumped to 2500pts when the second ghb dropped. That has the same effect as them saying the default game size we recommend is 1500pts. Since I ve played aos, my armies have kept shrinking in terms of number of models on the table and now look no bigger than what I ve seen on the table when people played privateer press warmachine most of the time.  It s been the opposite of my fantasy battle experience where armies kept getting bigger with point drops and rule changes promoting bigger unit blocks.

I guess we ll see what direction gw decides to go after the realm of guhr but if we don t reverse the trend of small armies, I don t see any reason to look at playing games smaller than 2k

  3. I think the problem stormdrake guards bring to us is the same as Sons of behemat and nothing in our battletome provides a good answer to it. I m finding myself running belakor as an ally to work around it and the god characters for 1 turn and try to get ahead in VPs

Twinsouls in 10 can do some serious damage but with save stacking, they really need a pip of rend on their profile to be where they need to be

So, in the beginning of March, I have a 1k tournament to make my grand Slaanesh gameplay debut at. Which means I have about 1 month to get my list settled and painted. Working on the painting now, but figured I'd tweak the list a bit, still very uncertain on the subfaction/artifact/command trait...

    Lord of Pain (General)

    11x Blissbarb Archers
    10x Symbaresh Twinsouls
    5x Slickblade Seekers

That leaves me with 115 points left. Thinking maybe a Great Bray Shaman for a wizard and an alright warscroll spell. For summoning I have some Daemonettes, gonna try and have 30 ready by then, we shall see. Doubt I'll get a Keeper by then, but maybe some Seekers or Fiends to summon? I assume it'd be good to have a cheap character to summon as I only have 1 to capture points in that one mission...

The great bray shaman sounds. like a good idea. It gives you that 2nd hero you re considering summoning and since coalition beast of chaos  now come with the mark of Slaanesh, it s another gateway to summon from. With your faction terrain and the lord of pain you now have 3 points to summon from.

For summoning seekers are good for their speed but they ll be equivalent to deamonettes on the turn they are summoned. Fiends are not worth investing into at the moment. Consider having an exalted chariot for summoning instead, they are a source of mortal wound the army lacks

Building my way up to getting an exhalted chariot and I'm wondering how difficult it might be to use the new seeker models for it since they look so much better. Would the size difference throw things off?

That exalted chariot  kit already does not fit on the base GW provides so at this point I d say go for it and convert away. Those exalted seekers are so nice and easy to build if you don t do the riders!

  6. Been constantly losing against that army no matter the player. The bastilodon does kill a keeper in a single round of shooting and can shoot twice, none of my spells go off, they curse units easily with their terrain rule making all terrain in their deployment zone mystical for them. My meta is full of Seraphons and I am in desperate need of recommendations when facing them for my next event in a few weeks. Here s the list I m planning to run. It s heavy on coalition units to get more wounds with protection against mortal wounds, no deamon except for Be lakor which I ve had good results with in the past

    Allegiance: Slaanesh
    - Host: Godseekers Host
    - Grand Strategy: Hold the Line
    Triumphs:

    Allies: 360 / 400
    Wounds: 123
    Drops: 2

  7. 1. Prices increasing with each new release

I ve been buying a lot less as price have kept increasing

    2. Rules bloated. It sometimes takes more than 4 books / releases to have all of the rules together.

I look for sites where I can find all my rules in 1 place. Eventually the warhammer app could be that but not today

    3. Power level increasing with new releases, leaving older armies behind.

it s a mix bag.  New army doesn t always mean higher power level. I d say at this point while I still attend competitive events,  I set goals based on my army only knowing the game is not balanced and some match ups results are set before deployment

    4. GW basically neglecting certain factions, wich just don't get anything new and up to date.

With so many armies it s not a surprise. Better alternative models are usually available if the current aesthetic feels too old

    5. Models being locked behind paywalls, or big box sets, for a long period of time.
I convert or buy from third party the model itself if this is something I want

I think lately GW has been faster at releasing them on their own a few months after the box release

    6. FAQ debacle.

I have a hard time with the FAQs. I admit I always set my expectations too high and I am always disappointed. GW needs to do a better job with this IMO. The battlescroll update feels like a step in the right direction however

    7. Massive FOMO

The more GW focuses on 40k the lesser it is a problem for me since I do not play that game system

But in none of those books, have there been blatant warscroll nerfs like in this fyreslayer release

While I understand your frustration, I disagree with that statement. Slannesh warscrolls got a worse treatment on their warscrolls. This may have been downplayed because of the big mortal release that came with the BT but the deamon warscrolls got nerfed in every way and here we are almost a year later

Thanks - although I don't think any of these add extra rend to deal with armour do they?

Are there ways to get extra attacks on the KOS?

They add reliability and more chances to do a 6 on the wound rolls with the claws for 5 mortal wounds,  it will do on average 8.86 damage vs a 2+ save. You can get an extra claw attack in pretenders via an artefact

What are the best ways to buff a KOS to actually do any damage against well armoured foes? In fact how does Slaanesh deal with armour in general?

Godseeker keeper of secret with hunter supreme and vial of the manticore on the claws (universal artefact). Sacrifice to the fane and hit on 2s rr 1s, wound on 3s rr 1s with the great blade and 2s rr 1s with the claws.

This reliably do good damge to heavy armour piece
