  1. Couldn't you take Averon Stormsire + Stormsire's Cursebreakers for cheaper empower? Its 230 for a Knight-Incantor and an empower battery. So, basically 105 points for Empower. Which seems like a decent deal if you want them just to empower Castigators or such.

Is it gonna 5-0 tournaments? No, of course not. But not every list needs to be tournament ready, some of us just want to have a semi-good list that has a chance at our LGS vs whatever may show up. Y'all need to calm down with the "this is never gonna win a tournament" xD

  2. So I'm trying to figure out a list for Bastian, but I can't seem to come up with anything tbh. (Or at least, no lists besides just throwing him in a dragons list).

Mostly I think I'm just unsure of what we've got in the ways of Hammers and Anvils.

    Hammers:

    4x Stormdrake Guard + Knight-Draconis

    10x Protectors + Lord-Relictor (Translocation)

    4x Fulminators

    Anvils:

Liberators, Sequitors, Vindictors, Protectors in Knights Excelsior (?)

Let me know if I missed anything! (I'm sure I did)

Stormcast weapons are just wildly inconsistent on what they do... Liberators with great swords got 3+/3+/-1/d2, I would assume vanquishers had that profile, sacrificing +1 save from shields to get a tiny bit more offensive power, but no. I see no reason at all to ever take Vanquishers and Vigilors at 195 pts is a hard sell, but at least they can give somebody else +1 to hit...

A shame, those models really look good, bu eh, going to break the bank on dragons anyway ;)

Yeah, im disappointed. Im getting vanquishers, they look too cool not to, but the rules are sad :(

why not just take protectors for a higher price to get -2 rend, 5 attacks vs everyone, and an extra wound per model?

Sequitors probably add 1 to save rolls from the shield, to stop 2+ saves

Otherwise maybe 3+ saves are only for Prima....Thunderstrike

Doubtful. Sequitors already got a unique rule for their shields in the 3.0 faqs, the 5+ ward.

I hope they get more than just some extra rend on their basic weapons, but dont be surprised if thats all thats different.

Furthermore, don't expect liberators to be any different either. They'll likely consolidate profiles to 3+/3+/-1/1, but i doubt they'll get a 3+ save and theyre probably just keeping their reduce rend rule.

I only listed units/abilities that are legal in matched play ;)

Counterpoint, Praetors have a Pitched Battle Profile in the General's Handbook, and as all units must have a warscroll, the only usable warscroll is the Dominion one. Thus, they are legal. :)

Unrelated to that, Sam Pearson (rules writer for AoS) has been made aware of the After save stacking and 'will discuss it with the team ASAP'

We don’t know if it was a mistake or a new ability in the book.

    Anyway more Hammerers stuff:

SCE: command trait: if a unit within 12” suffers a casualty, they get +1 sv for the turn. Artifact: double damage to 1 weapon on 6’s to wound.

Looks like SCE had a unit in the sky even though they were playing Stormkeeps. Probably a mistake also

I thought he said he was playing scions?

Unrelated: rules for all the new thunderstrike infantry in Warcry are up on Warcom. Knight-Judicator is insane, 4 damage on a regular hit, 10 on a crit with his bow??? Even with just one attack thats crazy

Edit: been a while since I looked at warcry, but I checked and its actually the same profile as the Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrikes, but with higher range. Could mean that his bow is the same or a similar profile to them, -2 rend 2 damage.

Similarly, the chariot and shooty boi for stormcast. They are easy to build kits, and they'll probably be what gets released first. I think that's what happened with second edition AoS and 9th 40k

Was that confirmed that they're easy to build? I thought we'd seen the mirebrute with options, which usually aren't included in the easy to build kits.

IIRC we were speculating 7/8 wounds and @Whitefang said much higher 😃

Based on this, I wonder if the Stormdrake Guard may be close to Mancrusher Gargants in terms of design space.

A large, expensive, single model unit, but if they're battleline you can take 3 that deploy at once, which are then considered separate units and count for all your battleline requirements.

You don't need different warscrolls to have different pitched battle profiles. For example, Steam Tanks and Stegadons

Good point, I've never looked at Cities or Seraphon too closely so I never noticed those units. Even though its likely surprises for stormcast, I do really hope its for Kruleboyz.

There's 53 warscrolls in the old book, plus gardus and the underworlds warband from season 2 makes 56.

In Dominion there are 7 units.

After that we have have 4 different dragons, 3 new units if annihilators get a second warscroll for the different weapon, 3 new heroes and the chariot.

    That leaves 2.

Persecutors have two listings in the store but only one warscroll currently. My guess is that is split and the missing warscroll is a new scenery kit.

Actually we know that Judicators get their warscroll split in the new book from the points page leak a while back in the how to play videos. So it's likely prosecutors don't change and we get judicators split plus i guess another new unit. Why do stormcast need all this stuff gw?? This is coming from a stormcast player! I love these models but give other factions love too!

  11. Oooooh, the dragon princes seem super neat! Both have fire breath and a super sweeping tail, Krondys (blue) is a caster with a nasty spell and can cast two per turn while using his fancy armour to add up to +3 to his casting rolls while Karazai is apparently a combat focused dragon, but little new information in the new article about him.

Also confirmed that there are 76(!!) Warscrolls in the new battletome. I think other armies need new releases for a very long while, no army comes close to that number.

Ah I don't really have access to purchase/acquire that many annihilators yet. I'm in Oceania and everything has been locked down due to covid, so we never got any releases other than Dominion so far. But I will try that soon.

As of yet, annihilators are only in dominion (the starter sets only had Vindictors and Praetors) so I'm guessing they just Proxied or Ebay'd :)

Translocation is the best thing in this book currently 🤣

Yndrasta is a massive liability. Can’t kill monsters, can’t kill 5 wound heroes, can’t stand up to any pressure from anything. Died every single game after failing to kill something. Would be much better off with annihilators and an Imperatant.

Speaking of which, annihilators with Gavriel are incredible. I am not surprised that lists spamming 5-6 are doing well and I would 💯 do the same if another book wasn’t coming in (**sigh**) 4 weeks.

Bringing back 10 vindictors is also gold

Yndrasta can't kill 5 wound heroes?? With 4 attacks on 3+/2+/-2/3? That sounds more like bad rolls/bad engagement choices. Heck I played a game yesterday, Yndrasta charged 6 Manskewer Boltboyz (no unleash hell as my annihilators across the table soaked UH up) and killed 4 of them, with another running to battleshock. Didn't use All-Out Attack or anything, just straight 4 attacks and she melted through them. 4+ Ward and Praetors protected her from shooting, on top of Heroic Recovery, sure she can die but she can take quite a bit of punishment if protected a little (terrain, AoD, Praetors, etc.)

I was going to bring this up today too. When I read the rules, I got the same thing out of them.

I believe its the extra enhancements from Warlord/Command Entourage Core Battalions.

When I did a cursory check yesterday, I didn't see anything saying you could take Unique Enhancements multiple times, I also didn't see anything that says you couldn't take Unique Enhancements multiple times. So its very much a grey area until clarified what extra enhancements we can take with the Magnificent Core Battalion ability.
