  1. Not just a possibility, Sequitors can take Swords instead of the Mauls (there's only the Greatmaces for heavy weapons) and the swords are 3 attacks/3+/4+/-/1 I think math-wise they slightly win out over the mauls.
  2. Warhammer Community announced today that there are gonna be new smaller versions of Soul Wars for lower cost entry points to AoS2. The $80 set comes with a Knight-Incantor, 5 Sequitors, 3 Castigators, 2 Evocators (No Prime), and the Ballista. For those that wanted the new stuff, but not the odd unit counts, that sounds like a very solid solution, especially since they're the same sculpts as the starter box. Get that, 3 Evocators off ebay and the Lord-Arcanum (or wait to get one of the alternate mounts) and you have a "fixed" Soul Wars set.
  3. Actually they did show off those two models yesterday in the pre order trailer for the battletome on YouTube. As well as the Lord-Arcanum on Dracoline kit
  4. Has anyone seen a review where they talk about weapon options for Evocators? Specifically there was a picture from WHF that showed what I believe were evocators with 2-handed staves and 1 model with a big spear.
  5. That last line sums them up. No special weapons, no unknown rules, they are exactly as they appeared in Soul Wars. They are required for a few battalions though. They have stormhost rules, Guerilla Miniature games has a review a page or two back that covers it.
  6. To be fair, how many spells from other faction-specific lores are amazing? We have quite a few good ones in here, the +1 to wound is awesome, Azyrite Halo is definitely gonna get use, I like chain lightning from a flavor perspective, Thundershock is a short range AOE version of the Relictors Lightning Storm, and stormcaller seems unimpressive, but can definitely turn the tide against MSU armies. Also notable: Lightning blast does not have a range. So turn 1 from ~24" away you do d3 mortal wounds.
  7. What abilities are you talking about? The two stormhosts we've seen have 4 abilities technically. The passive, Command Trait, Command Ability, and Artefact.
  8. Yeah, if he still had the double shooting command ability (especially if they removed the general restriction like they did with the Celestant in the battletome), 140 would be a lot more fair. Without it.... oof. The Astral Grandhammer (new model) sounds like it's just a Retributor's hammer. -1 rend, 2 damage, can do mortal wounds. At least that's a better choice than the 5 (now 6) attacks, 4+/4+/-/1 with potential for d3 mortal wounds. Speaking of the Celestant on Foot, his command ability can now ONLY be used if the Celestant is within 3" of an enemy unit, and affects SCE units wholly within 12". Thats.... worse.
  9. Hailstorm Battery Battalion: 1 Lord-Ordinator, 1 unit of Castigators, 1 Celestar Ballista If the unit of Castigators wounds an enemy unit in shooting, the ballista gets to reroll hits against that unit. Going by MWG's review, don't expect battalions to do anywhere near the same thing as they did before. Hammerstrike Force doesn't have the alternate deployment or the supercharge ability and instead got a new ability that lets you choose a unit of PALADINS wholly within 9" and give them +1 to wound (I believe). Vanguard Wing also lost the Liberator slingshot ability.
  10. Well that command ability is lame. At least it doesn't require him to be the general....
  11. Looking at the description for the Battletome for pre order, we get 2 Spell Lores (Lore of the Storm & Lore of Invigoration, which Evocators are not forbidden to take). Table of mount traits for every type (Dracoth, Stardrake. Gryph, Tauralon, Dracoline and one other)
  12. So far there's only the Lord-Ordinator and the Celestar Ballistae, no word on more machines/units besides a hint at more war machines later
  13. Based on what they mentioned in the article from left to right: Hammers of Sigmar, Hallowed Knights, Celestial Vindicators, Celestial Warbringers, Anvils of the Heldenhammer, Tempest Lords. Surprised to see no Astral Templars or Knights Excelsior
  14. So one question that i've just had come up, if I purchase and endless spell (or if i'm playing in a realm, using realm spells, etc) can evocators cast those other spells?
  15. Yeah the comet seems completely insane, even at 100 points. Being able to cast it from outside unbinding range and smash something in a 10" radius is massive. Even if you roll a 1 or 2, its still a huuuuge range to hit everything with.
  16. Yeah I'm kinda wondering this myself. I've played 4 games with them now vs Fyreslayers, Death, Sylvaneth and Slaanesh. Each game they were huge, the worst they did was 1-shotting a squad of 10 Seekers, then tying up 20 daemonettes the rest of the game. Best they did was taking Alarielle from full to 4 wounds remaining while she had mystic shield on.
  17. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/06/26/26th-june-preview-new-heroes-of-the-stormcast-eternalsgw-homepage-post-2/ Hmm.... both of these seem...... underwhelming? Why should I take Solbright over a Lord-Arcanum on Dracoline? It doesnt look like she gets anything special besides her spell. At least Firestrike has a new command ability, new spell and 2 special rules that put him above a normal Lord-Arcanum on Tauralon (well at least what I assume to be the rules for one based off the Gryph-Charger variant)
