Foolishly, with only two hobby evenings to go until Blood and Glory, I've decided to make some new terrain!
I bought an old copy of the Mouse Trap board game a while back, knowing I probably didn't have time to get it assembled and painted in time as well as finishing my army to a decent standard.
I was right, but I'm going for it anyway.
Sorry for the rubbish photos. I'll take some better ones when I finish them tomorrow (fingers crossed!).

The last time I posted things were very different.  I'd started to paint some clanrats for my mostly Moulder list.  I was planning (as I'm traditionally a slow painter) to paint the army over a period of months.  I'd even written a month by month plan - of an unambitious 'one unit per month'.  Then, on a whim, I finally decided to bite the bullet and go to my first tournament.  I bought tickets to Blood and Glory!  My army painting time had been cut from seven months to less than two!
It has proven the motivation I needed!
Three weeks to go and I'm well on the way.  The rat ogors and the abomination are only at the basecoat and shade stage, but I'm getting there.  It's a chilly outside so I won't be venturing down to the shed to get pictures, but please enjoy what I have on my phone.

I'm pretty proud of my rat ogors thus far.  I've never really done any green stuff work before and, whilst I was planning to spend on months on these, I think they look reasonably coherent considering I've had to slap them together in a week.  I have sixteen in the list and they hit like a train.  If I do make any changes to my list, it'll probably be to add even more!

I'm mighty pleased so far.  The skin on the rat ogors and hellpit needs lots of work but I'm comfortably ahead of my pre Blood and Glory schedule!
I think I'll put this whole army in this thread and only open a new on for my next project.  Comments more than welcome.

I'm finally painting! I have my army list written and a monthly plan to stick to. I've initially got one eye on making my tournament debut at SCGT next year (I know, I'm a slow painter) but I've made a solid start in the past week, so I may well revise my painting plan.
I think I'll create a separate blog post for each unit type and add to them as I go, or I might just end up throwing it all in here. We'll see.
Anyway, here's pics of my clanrats so far!

After a day of Warhammer World (http://www.tga.community/blogs/blog/15-hobgoblinblog/) and drinks in Nottingham, we were up bright and early to make the hour drive to Coventry and Warhammer Fest!  Somehow, due to roadworks and wrong turns, that hour turned into three.  The question cards from Trivial Pursuit kept us occupied and we arrived around 11ish.
Blood Bowl was the highlight of the Fest for me, so I'll start with that.  I had a good chat with James Hewitt, the writer, and I'm pleased to say he allayed any fears I had.  The game will come with two teams (orcs and humans) and will be a 'fraction of the price' of the other boxed games (I'm guessing this means £50/60).  Four more plastic teams will follow: skaven, dwarf, nurgle and 'some kind of elf'.  Also on release day will be Death Zone Season One, which includes rules for league play.  Following all those treats, they have plans for resin teams, resin coaching staff and refs (probably as event-only minis), more Death Zone sets up to at least Season Five.  Most interesting is the plan to move the timeline on.  Season One will begin with all of the classic star players.  As the seasons progress, these players will age, potentially become managers, and be replaced by new, younger stars!

There was also this really nice Laketown set coming out for the Hobbit.  It might be a tiny bit too small for AoS, but it's a really nice kit.  There's a picture of some 40k stuff here too.  Dunno how that got in here.

@Painted by G entered a few things in Golden Daemon and won a couple of pins!  Well done him!  Here he is, having just been duped into holding Scott's burger rubbish, next to the only model he entered which didn't win a pin (sorry, it's the only one I photographed).  I'm not sure why the slaughterpriest didn't win as he was superb.  From sad faces to smiles!  We ran into @Dan Heelan who seemed like a thoroughly nice fella and took the photo opportunity.

That's pretty much all of the non-blurry pictures I have.  I clearly got caught up having fun and forgot to take more.  I leave you with a small selection of the entrants to Golden Daemon.  I think only two of these won a trophy (the magmadroth and skarbrand).  Shows what I know about painting!

After many months of waiting, last weekend was the Hobgoblin Club Road Trip!  A wonderful time was had by all.  On Saturday we visited Warhammer World in Nottingham, and on Sunday we travelled to Warhammer Fest in Coventry (http://www.tga.community/blogs/entry/76-warhammer-fest-hobgoblin-club-road-trip-part-two/).  I've kept things brief, as it's only the pics you're interested in anyway.  Enjoy!
So, we set off early on Saturday morning (8am I think, early for us!) and drove down to Nottingham full of excitement!  Premier Inn checked into, we were quickly off down the road to take some obligatory photos of us posing in front of the giant Stormcast, before entering Warhammer World.

Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower looks like an excellent release.  The first army idea I had for AoS was Tzeentch beastmen, so this box is really of interest.  Sadly, I don't think I'll be buying the four/five copies of the game required to get sensible sized units together!  It was great to get our hands on the miniatures though.  The Mistweaver Saih is a superb model which has got us all very interested in what the future holds for aelfs in AoS.
Other treats included seeing some of the Forge World monsters up close for the first time and the new orruks, who looked very impressive in the flesh.

After browsing the stores, and each spending varying amounts of money, we headed into the exhibition.  This consisted of a single room last time I visited.   These days it costs £7 to enter, but it's now pretty large and well worth visiting at least once.  Some of the new dioramas are mightily impressive!  I'll leave you here with some shots of the what I thought were the best bits (see I said I'd be brief) and follow soon with a post about our visit to Warhammer Fest on the Sunday.  Thanks for scrolling!

I know those last two images aren't AoS but it was quite a spectacle.  So impressive that it almost made me want to take up 40k, almost.

Finally laid the rest of the floor and it's looking great!  It really finishes of the 'Is this a shed or a sauna?' look.
Also got the electrics in the shed finished.  They just need to be hooked up to the house, which will be done while I'm away at Warhammer Fest.

Having waited a week for materials to arrive, the Blood Shed build is moving again!  The roof is now tiles and I have to say that I'm over the moon with it.  I'm not sure the name 'Shed' will suffice for this place.  I've seen less substantial bungalows!  Scroll down for more progress...

So the roof is on and just needs finishing off tomorrow.  Today has also seen the internal electrics almost completed and the floor started.  I feel like it's all coming together at once.  The double glazing is due Monday!

The door was hung to day and the window frames assembled for the two windows which will open.  The door is a nice old reclaimed one, which is about three times the weight it should be!  T
That's all that'll probably happen this week unfortunately.  There's going to be a delay now while we wait for the glass (double glazing!) to arrive.  There might be some shots of the roof going on and more internal work though. I'll keep you posted!

By popular demand, a project blog of the building of my new man shed.
Somehow (I'm already confused as exactly how, though I'm not questioning) in the recent past, I persuaded my wife to agree, as part of a whole garden rejig, to allow me to rebuild my man shed.  We moved house a couple of years back and I was lucky enough to find myself the proud owner of a 30ft shed/garage.  Apparently, the previous owner had built it specially to house his boat.  Fun nerdy times were had, but it quickly became clear that the roof leaked and, before long, the whole place would collapse in on us if we rolled too many dice at once.
Fast forward two years, the wife wants the garden done, so it's time to clear out the old, and start anew.  @Ben suggested I blog the build as it appears, so here's the initial photos after two or three days.
So far, it's just a concrete base, with the six supporting posts set in the concrete,(complete with obligatory handprints) and the beginnings of walls.  I opted to use floorboards to construct the walls, rather than shiplap, as it was considerably cheaper.
I'll probably post everyday with progress reports.  Hopefully the whole thing shouldn't take long.

Things seemed to really leap forwards today.  After two 'maybe I'll be along' and then no-shows, the electrician finally appeared. Even though we knew he'd have to take some of the panels back off to hide all of the wiring, we'd decided to press on a ****** everything in place for easy removal.  We've already lost a few days thanks to injury, breakdown (vehicular) and delayed deliveries, so time is of the essence.  I also want it all finished by Saturday 7th May as we're scheduled to play some AoS.
Just a few snaps then to show the changing interior.  Panels were off and back on easily enough.  The wiring has been done for 5 double sockets, two strip lights and a fuse box.  You can see one of my kids there, taking an interesting in proceedings.
Tomorrow that doorway is getting filled.  Hopefully time will also allow the window frames will be made.  6 days to game day!  Much to do!

The walls are now complete and the roof boards are fully on.  I realised I forgot to say, for those interested, the pitch of the roof was dictated purely by where the 8x4' boards met.  Nothing more scientific than than.  I did have to shop around a bit for a piece of timber long enough to stretch along the apex (5.4 meters, and, yes, I'm working in both metric and imperial at the same time).
I've cut the hedge down, despite the shed being far from ready, just to enjoy the view from the windows.  I'm debating getting double glazing in, but I don't think I have the budget.
This will be the view from my painting bench.

While this will be the view from my building and basing bench.  Ten points if you can spot the sniper!  I'm told he was just hunting 'wabbits'.

Perhaps most excitingly, the polystyrene insulation has begun to go in!  I've got high hopes that it won't be freezing in the new place.  I've attached a couple of photos here showing it cut to shape and the first of the boards going on.  Exciting times!

Today was all about the roof of the shed.  Finally, we had a morning without ice!  That meant the felt could go down.  This stuff seems thin and flimsy, but apparently it's now watertight.  The wood is just to hold the stuff in place until the roofer (father-in-law) returns at some point next week to do the tiles.  I cannot wait to see it all tiled!

And on the inside, the insulation has gone in, and one or two of the boards.  Despite the fact that there's no windows or door on yet, sticking all of this in has already made a noticeable difference to the temperature in the shed.  Promising signs!  The last Blood Shed was freezing nearly all year round.  Tomorrow the electrician is coming!

Not the most exciting day but some good work done.  The insulation and boarding of the walls is nearly complete, giving a good sense of what the completed room will feel like.

The trench is also now dug for the electrics to go in. Frustratingly, the electrician couldn't make it last night, so some of the panels will have to be taken back down to hide all the wires away.  This shouldn't be too bad as they've all been screwed up, rather than nailed.
As I said, not the most exciting day, but there should be big changes over the weekend.  Work on the outside of the roof starts tomorrow and the inside of the roof is getting insulated.  Then it's on to the windows and door.  Following that, there's only really the floor left.  Aiming for a first AoS session on the 7th May!

The new Blood Shed is rapidly rising from the earth!  Most of the walls are almost complete and the first sections of roof have gone on.  You can just about see the corner of the old Blood Shed on the right hand side of the first photo. Sorry, not the best photo of the external progress (I was looking after the kids so trapped in the house).

The new building will be used exclusively for geekery: AoS, hobbytime, D&D etc. etc.  The floor is 13x18' and the plan is to have two 6x4' gaming tables in there.  I'm going to lay the room out in such a way that the gaming boards can be slid over to rest on the hobby benches, to allow four 6x4's when needed.  Difficult to explain but all shall be revealed. Hopefully, we'll have an eight may AoS tournament at some point over the summer - maybe with even more players, if the weather sorts itself out and we can have some tables outside.
The interior!  I can almost see the ghostly outlines of the friends who'll play and be merry in here for years to come.

I've included two of the interior of the old shed for comparison.
