    Hey guys,

I'm looking for advice on what prayers you think would be best for an Idolator Lord (Fiery Orator) and Idolator Warshrine with the additional prayer enhancement.   I was thinking of giving the Lord both Heal and Curse since he can double prayer per turn.  The Warshrine would then get Curse and Guidance.  Do you think that would be a good distribution of universal prayers on top of their warscroll ones?  Any suggestions?  The army around them would be typical - 10 Knights, 10 Warriors, 30 Marauders, 2 chariots and plenty of hero Support (CL on Karkadrak, CL on foot, Daemon Prince and Sorcerer).

I've been using the Warshrine as my general lately with Fiery Orator, for double Favour of Chaos... Along with Daemonic Power from a sorcerer that's all the rerolls all the time!😜

Not gone double prayer enhancement yet. For the regular prayers I normally give heal to the shrine and curse to the chariot (so I can double Favour and curse in the same turn).

EDIT - Although now I've written it out, I think I may have been an inadvertent  massive cheat...
Warshrines in Idolators gain the Leader battlefield role, but not the Hero Keyword.  Booo!

iirc Flaming weapon cannot be given to a named character.

Cheers guys. I knew they couldn't have command traits/artefacts but wasn't sure how it interacted with spells, as they do get to pick from the deepwood list.

In my defence this is the first time I've tried a named character 🤣

EDIT: That said, what's a good Deepwood spell for Drycha? Regrowth for emergency heals?

Maybe. Certainly not worse but I would argue still not better. And there are always other things going on. At my work, for example, we have just received stock that was on that ship that got stuck in the Suez Canal. And a factory fire in Japan last year means we are still struggling to get stock of products that contain their product.  I'm learning a lot about the global supply-chain this year! :)

You don’t by any chance work in the bike industry do you ?

It brings up some questions; who are the haves and the have notes in this? What are the hero-artifact combos being used, and why do they throw the balance out of whack? A given artifact in the context of a certain army (or even specifically keyword within it) is very different from making that artifact available to everyone. I don't feel like runesmiters on magmadroths are really crushing the meta.

As for your second point; your answer is FAR more restrictive than mine. It severely limits army customizability, and it's a stance that you have expressed very defensively. Why do you feel you need the 1-2 double so badly?

Why not? Aren’t monsters with 5+ wards unilaterally a problem?😜

As for “expressing defensively”… that’s just my writing style - I could post aggressively if you prefer, but then I’d probably look like a right idiot🤣🤣🤣

I don’t NEED a double turn at all. But I like the mechanic. A lot. So it’s my preference to keep it.

  5. Are you ok with armies that have similar artefacts to the Amulet of Destiny being allowed to give them to higher wound models? Wouldn't that just be a return to a case of haves and have nots that 3rd was ostensibly trying to repair?

Also , you'll prize double turns from my cold dead fingers 🤣🤣🤣. Don't want to get doubled turn 1-2? Build a low drop list and go second. Job jobbed.

Dunno if my opinion counts though as I haven't been contributing to fan comps since before the first ghb...😜

I agree that was the intent - I would not be surprised to see it errata'd to be a single attack to each enemy model within 3" (possibly in addition to a base number). Maybe it will be less effective than I suspect, but I don't think the intention is to JoJo's-turbo-tail Archaon into the dirt because he happens to be sitting next to 30 Marauders.

I killed Archaon with Decimators in my late lamented Skyborne Slayers list exactly like that!😃

I just keep my coulour scheme. It still fits nicely together.

But Yeah I miss the old hammer Design on the shoulder pad. The sigmar face Looks cool on the shield but on the shoulder it Just Looks like an egg. At least on tabletop distance. The old one Was better imo.

    Completely agree.

I'm partway through my first unit of Vindictors, and with the best will in the world, the right shoulder icon is just a blob!

  8. Oh man, I've not played AoS since the start of the pandemic and the Dominion box got me keen to start again... But the last few pages of this thread are making me regret it! As if losing Skyborne Slayers wasn't bad enough!🤣🤣🤣

Anyway, while I like the new models, I wasn't keen on Yndastra's feathery wings - it just didn't sit right with all the other winged heroes.

So, 1 issue of mortal realms to the rescue and she has Knight Azyros wings!

What do we think? Good idea? Terrible mistake? I do still have the feathery wings to convert back...

    320. i think its either 270  or 260 for a regular slann(which isnt bad)  Perfect for allying in. Im thinking about taking out the 2 incantors. Losing the auto unbind is rough, but honestly aside from maybe umbral spellportal, WLV isnt as popular and FEC is just getting hammered by everything else.

Alternatively, taking out 1 incantor, azyros (since slann give you cp to use to re roll 1s) , and geminids should be enough for a Slann build

    WLV?

Look at the huge vanguard auxiliary chamber battalion, it's doable at 2500 and with it you'be basically got everything. Anvils Longstrikes are the most powerful Vanguard unit, though (some would argue the only one)

Why would  you start with them onboard ?

If I have other Heroes in my list outside of the battalion, that I may want to deploy with Scions.

Or maybe I want to (try to) keep deep striking enemy units away from an objective. Basically using 5 Libs and 5 Judicators for board control.

  12. 2 minutes ago, Maturin said:

So, what's the consensus on the judicators from the Warscroll. Longbows ? Arbalests ? How many of them ?

In Slayers? I ran 5 of each.
Crossbows for clearing screening chaff, and Skybolt's in case I wanted to start them on the board and the could contribute from further away.
Although if I had the models, I would consider 2x 5 Crossbows.

  13. So... I went with List 1 in the end and went 3-2, including playing Changehost twice!

Game 1 was Scorched Earth in Chamon vs Big Waaaaagh, and it was a hell of a game to start with. Ended up getting a major win 21-20!

Highlight for me was one shotting his mawcrusha with the Celestant!

    89359509_game1.jpg.7d20da844b248ef1bebed66d19cb50f8.jpg

Game 2 was Relocation Orb vs Ravagers Slaves to Darkness in Ghur. I'd never played in ghur before!

He took quite a varied list, including a Khorne Daemon Prince, which I was quite worried about as it could turn my 5" charges into 10 " charges.
As it turned out, I out dropped him and went second, then proceeded to win all the turn priorities and kept going second, scoring 3 pt's per turn. As I won the 4th priority he could no longer catch up, so we called it there. Major Win! (Although I forgot to take any pics)

Game 3, and it was Changehost time! Battle for the Pass in Ulgu.

Host Duplicitous, 1 drop, you all know the score... Started my Liberator phalanx on the board to deny him my objective, but then they were pinned there all game as I FORGOT ABOUT BRIDGE OF SHADOWS!!!
Had some real bad rolls at clutch moments (so much so, that my opponent gave me some dice...). took a turn longer than it should have to kill his Keeper. Had most of my army left at the end (opponent got 200 kp...), but he'd outscored me a by a lot early on. Although Changehost is strong for sure, this was by no means unwinnable. It was the first time I'd ever played them, so with a little more practice and a little less bad luck, I reckon its 50/50!
    Anyway... Major Loss :(!

Game 4 - Shifting Objectives in Aqshy vs Lords of the Lodge Hermdar Fyreslayers.

Lets get it out there - I lost. Playing catch up after turn 3, but it just went downhill. No idea what happened... I think my decision making faculties were still asleep in the hotel. I play against Hermdar almost every week dammit! It's the main reason I have a Divine Light Relictor in the list. Eventually the lib blob was ground away, doing very little damage in return :( - Major Loss

Game 5 - Focal Points in Ghyran... vs Changehost!

I had a bit more of an idea of what the army could do this time. My set up was a little better, as was my rolling. Mostly. Obviously it whiffed  when starsoul macing/sword of judgementing his keeper in the face, leaving it on 3 wounds. However, the situation was saved by the Malevolent Maelstrom on it's only successful cast of the weekend. The death of an exalted flamer plus a unit of flamers giving it +2 on it's explodes roll, it duly did in a 7" radius, inflicting the final 3 mortals on the keeper (and killing a decimator and a liberator, but we wont mention that...) 10 points well spent.

The next 4 turns were spent essentially mopping up his units. Major Victory!

All in all a great weekend. 5 great opponents. Two things I took away - 1 I need to practice more, and against more varied opponents. And 2 - pay attention to the hidden agenda's dammit!
