All 3 models look viable from looking at the warscroll, but which one sees the most competitive play probably depends on which lists they fit into. I do agree for the lists I've written so far, the arachnarok shaman is winning out.

The damage output from the Dankhold Troggoths looks very weak.

@Infeston I think the only thing that defines a Troggboss above his peers is how you paint/present him. You should be able to do whatever you want, and still call him a Troggboss as long as he sticks out in some way next to his kin. In a way, we could almost treat it as a unit champion.

At least I hope so. I think the gw troggboss build looks really bad compared to a "regular" dankhold Troggoth.

On the topic of Dankhold: outside of thematic lists, what do people prefer in terms of pure stats? A Troggboss, or a Loonboss on Mangler? Asking because they're the same cost, so kind of competing with each-other.

Looking on stats I prefer the Loonboss on mangler squig 😊

This is something I am aiming towards to as well. Eventually would like to get 12 Enlightened, in case I need to repay some poeple who just have to be "that guy" and bring the worst cheese possible. But before I get more of those 6 Skyfires is what I want.

So I was thinking despite the Jabber nerf, there might be times where it might be useful. Buddy of mine put togather High Elf army playing a flying monster circuss of one Drakeseer and two Frost Phoenixes and won 2/3 games on our local tournament, loosing one just because of random objectives.

Seeing those birds in action I think Two jabbers countering one (2 jabbers are 60 pts more) while something else tackles the other one, and a Battle kitted BL/DB with bunch of bestigors tackling the Drakeseer might the right way to go.

Yeah I am either going to buy 6 more Enlightened or 6 Dragon ogors. I really like them both.

I have another question. Does the Dankhold Troggoth have three head options?

Looking at the sprues it seems to me like there are three head options. But I might be wrong.

As we have seen only two options, I would be interested how the last option looks like, because I don't like the Trogboss head with the fish on the head (or whatever the thing on his head is).

If there are three head options, does anyone maybe know if there exists pictures of all versions in the new battletome or somewhere else?

Looks like three heads. Troggboss, and then two others. One with open mouth and another with closed mouth.

Just 3 Skyfires are a bit underwhelming. Skyfires are primarily a melee unit, with shooting as a bonus. Because of their reroll mechanics you want them to delete or at least seriously cripple what you charge with them, so they should be used in a unit of 6 to make that

Then I will go to my original plan with 6 Enlightened and 6 Skyfires. That way I have  strike first and last rerolls. Thanks

  6. I am about to buy by the last stuff for my Beasts of chaos army. I play Gavespawn with the Phantasmagoria of fate battalion. I was planning on using 6 Enlightened on discs and 6 Skyfires. But for the same points you can get 12 Enlightened and 3 Skyfires. But my question is, will just 3 Skyfires do anything?

warscroll cards are great. especially the new format.  most warscrolls really don't change... every now and then a rule on one will change. These were just updated, with 2.0 in mind. I'd be surprised if more than 1 or 2 changed over the next couple of years....(out of 35-40 warscrolls!) way better than having to look up everything on your phone.  I feel rude to my opponent actually when i have to spend a lot of time looking up stuff on my phone.

Agreed 😊 and even if some cards would change I would still buy them.  The tokens are great too.

The book has so much potential for different builds I’m finding it hard to work out a list I wanna stick with, I still think grot heavy with squig support is the way to go though.

At first I was thinking Grot/Troggoth mix but now I think that mostly Squigs is the way to go for me 😊

And yet you bought the stuff that will be obsolete within weeks lol i never buy the dumb cards now. Warscrolls change way too often and too fast

Well not really a problem for me. I really like the tokens you get 😊 and I don't want to regret not buying them when they are sold out.

  10. For the first time ever I have not bought any models at the time of the release for  a new army I want. Just the book and cards. I learned from my mistake when I bought everything from the Idoneth deepkin and Kharadron overlords release and ended up not using half of the stuff....

I really want a competitive build for this army 😊

Yep Fuethan has Thralls and Reavers

Ishlaen Guard do not suit Deepkin playstyle at this moment. Ishlaen are really bad against mortal wounds and sitting on objectives is a  waste of points. They would be great support unit for any other Deepkin playstyle but right now Thralls lists are bad because there is almost nothing in the Battletome to support such playstyle. It's all about Morssar right now.

Makes me glad that I never got the time to glue my stuff together 😅

    Sure

    Dhoim-Haim I use is :

Volturnos, Aspect of the Storm (Cloud of Midnight), Soulscryer, Tidecaster(Steed of Tides), 9 Morssar, 2x6 Morssar

    Fuethan is :

Tidecaster, 2xSoulscryer, Aspect of the Storm(Ethereal Amulet), 9 Morssar, 6 Morssar, 5 Heartrenders

Looked at this again. Have you stopped using Ishlaen guard?

Personally i dont like the look of the deepkin. Flying blind fish just looks abit stupid to me, and the thralls weapons are massive compared to themselves. I only like the look of the tidecaster and the reavers.

Thats allright 😊 I think that the Eidolon of Mathlann is one of the best models made in years.

  14. Oh man this is a tough one. At first I was really excited about the Troggoths. But the more I read and for every picture I see I think that Grots and Squigs are the way to go for me. But I'm not sure if I should pick up this army or not. Idoneth deepkin models look better but the Gloomspite gitz seems more fun to play and really remind me of my youth and I get really nostalgic.

I've played a lot comeptitive AoS with Deepkins recently. Mainly two builds Fuethan Reverse Tides Alpha Strike and Dhom-Haim Volturnos Eels, I had more fun with Volturnos but you need Aspect of The Storm in it (in Fuethan you can go both ways) I've used Doppleganger Cloak (pre FAQ), Ethereal Amulet and Cloud of Midnight on him and like Cloud of Midnight best but Ethereal Amulet is great as well.

As always I'm interested in your lists 😊

Hi guys ive started beasts. I want to play awhile with pure beasts then move on to a heavy beast khorne army. Just a quick question do any of you have any idea if khorne will get a new book soon. Seems unlikely but with new scrolls coming in wrath and rapture i dont want to waste money on the battle tome

Well Blades of Khorne is very new so highly unlikely. They have many other battletomes that needs an update before Khorne.

If you're running them in Beasts of Chaos, I'd say Tzaangor Shaman, Shaggoth, Bray Shaman, Enlightened (on foot or disc), Skyfires, Tzaangors, Bestigors, Ungors, Ungor Raiders, Centigors, Dragon Ogres. Then for filler or specialized purposes you can find the following useful in certain lists: Razorgors, Warhounds, Chariots.

I have 3 start collecting boxes, 3 boxes of Enlightened, 2 chaos spawns, 1 Beastlord, 1 Shaggoth, 1 Tzaangor Shaman and 1 Herdstone so far. Planning on buying more Ungors.
