  1. I'm not sure Abhorash was ever centered enough in the fluff for those cliches to become grating. For me at least it was just cool for there to be a heavily armored knightly vampire lineage as something a little different.

I will say he never struck me as heroic, at least not until his end times last stand.

I'd like a new character more  but either Vlad or Abhorash would be cool (actually would vote for Isabella out of the three of them).

  2. The scale and freedom are big draws for me as well. It's easy to come up with a background for your army without struggling to fit it into the background.

Right now I'm working on Shyish themed Ironjawz (riding "ghost gruntas" so eerily silent that their riders tie chains to them to make some noise) to fight my wife's nighthaunts. It's really fun coming up with my own little corner of Shyish.

  3. I really want to see the Ironjawz range expanded. Chariots, a goregrunta megaboss.

I'd like to see some war machines, maybe with an ardboyz crew if they decide to expand on them.

Revamping the ogor lineup, especially units like the yhetees.

Destruction humans would be really cool, even as just 1 or 2 auxiliary units. Not likely, but I can dream.

Maybe worth changing the title of this thread since it's not a "Win your basket" competition. It's the less catchy variant "Have something in your basket and if you do, you're in with a chance of winning a bunch of stuff that you then tell GW you want when they contact the winners".

Of course, nothing wrong with filling your basket with £300 of stuff you want (and sharing and discussing!) but this competition isn't that.

The wording in the email they sent today makes it sound like they'd be picking stuff from your cart. I'd be happy either way, myself, as long as some cool stuff was included.

"You've got until 8am (GMT) on the 25th of February. We'll choose 5 My Warhammer accounts, and give them each up to £300 worth of the good stuff in their cart.*"

Gravelords release with plastic blood knights and hopefully updated skeleton and zombie kits. What else needs updating from that range? The wight king on foot?

The wight king on foot looks great, although I wouldn't complain about a new one.

Dire wolves, maybe? Combined with the units from Cursed City and a new vampire lord or two I think the faction would be looking pretty good.

I am so looking forward to Saturday.  Despite the current state of the world this hobby has sustained me through the pandemic, I hope it has for you all as well.  I am so ready to see Gardus, Lumineth, and Cursed City.

It definitely helps for me. Painting has been especially relaxing, and I need to do more of it than I have been.

I'm really excited for Cursed City. My wife likes the idea of a smaller scale board game over big battles and the aesthetic is up both our alleys.

  7. Hey everyone,

I'm working on finally painting a Start Collecting box I bought way back. I think i have the armor and skin sorted, but I'm not sure about the Gore-Grunta.

The armor is Mechanicus Grey darkened down a bit and the details/flames/etc are wazdakka red. I'm not sure if I should go really dark for the fur to contrast or maybe really light. The base will be in dark browns and the intent is that these guys live in Shyish.

Does anyone have an idea for what color would go well with the Orruk's paint scheme?

  8. @Rodiger Thanks! I thought I would be ok but wanted to check. I'd be in trouble too if there was a punishment. I'm awful at painting in a timely fashion.

For the month of September I pledge to finish my Ironjawz Warchanter, half completed when the range was still new.

Stretch goals are one goregrunta and brute, both also partly done in years past

  9. I asked my wife about her thoughts on this subject last night. She's spent a lot of time around the hobby and has been in gaming stores but only recently shown an interest in playing (40k initially but much more excited about AOS after seeing Nighthaunt models).

She said she didn't care much about seeing female models or characters in a game as far as attracting her interest, particularly with armies whose theme seemed weighted towards a certain gender ( she used space marines as an example of this).

She said she was most annoyed if the only female characters were proportioned like pinups or if there was a strong sense of "women are totally represented, here's the single 'girl' character/faction you should play".

She did like the newer female Stormcast and elf models for looking like they fit in with their factions and could fight. She also felt Games Workshop was doing a good job of increasing representation (gender and otherwise) without feeling like it's pandering or patronising.

Her worst experience as far as feeling welcome in the hobby was at the first hobby shop she went to. She told me the people there stared at her when she came into the store and acted like she was an alien species. If that place was her only experience of warhammer it would have driven her away. We found a much better place half an hour away and she's felt welcome there and at other places.

She thought representation was good, but the way she's treated by players or store employees had the biggest impact on whether she felt included.

  10. Hey everyone.

I'm a little behind with how much has changed the last year or two. Are the available two army sets like soul strike and its bigger brothers fairly current with the rules?

My wife likes the Nighthaunt army's aesthetics a lot and we enjoyed the 40k little starter set a lot.

  11. A Morathi faction would be cool. I feel like she got the short straw in the End Times. Cthulu Elves would be cool, too.

I feel like I'd have to curse GW if they got me into Elves, though.  The elf factions were among the few old world factions I never felt the need to spend way too much money on before. :P
