Guys. GW has always had a flagship faction or two for each of their properties. It's how they roll. At least in Age of Sigmar, they have two flagship factions - Bloodbound and Stormcast - and they aren't really neglecting any of the other factions (at least the ones that they actually intend to support, as opposed to the compendium factions, which I have a feeling are going to be supported in name alone).
-
Almost certainly a Stormcast. Looks kind of wizardly. Though, I think I'd rather see the Stormcast continue to not get a wizard, because I like the distinction... but then again, maybe GW will handle it well?

I actually really, really like it. If I were to start playing Tzeentch Arcanites, I'd totally stick this guy in as a daemon prince or greater daemon or something.

Stick it to a metal sheet and magnetise the models. Wallhammer is a go

Speaking of oop minis, has anyone else got any of the '90s skeletons? I scored a box of them on eBay, and they're pretty cool. They've got a beastman head!

Oh man…if they sold bits, and well priced? So many eBay sellers would go under.

Hm... yeah, I might get some skeleton archers, actually...

If this turns out to be true, what metal models will you all be ordering?

Wow… your work is awesome.

It's gorgeous. I want one.

I will predict that if this 40k release includes Daemons, it will have AoS relevance. However, that's not a given. It could be all power armor.
-
I wouldn't go so far as to say that 40k is ruined... but then again, I mostly play with a pretty chill bunch who are open to having pregame conversations and fudging the rules to keep the game fun. I wouldn't want to even think about a pick-up game of 40k with someone I don't know. I think I'd have more fun Free Playing Age of Sigmar with some random person!

Spoke to someone from total war at the AoS open day who said Feral games are working on the mac version. He did say he thought the release date had been announced but last time I checked feral were just saying autumn, hopefully that means pretty soon
I just saw that on their website. Awesome!

To me this box looks a lot more exciting!
Yes. Well. My 30k jam is Salamanders. Space Wolf and Thousand Sons flavored bits aren't going to be very helpful to me!

I wish I could play Total War, but they're being barbarians and not releasing a version for Mac. What is this, the 90s?
I'm disappointed by the direction they're taking the Burning of Prospero. It was fun to use Betrayal at Calth to catapult myself into playing 30km, but it looks like this new box isn't going to be as generally useful.

iirc sometime around the release of the Sylvaneth battletome and General's Handbook GW said they'd explore unique allegiance abilities for the factions with an existing battletome at some point in the foreseeable future. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember an "Allegiances of the Realms" book ever being mentioned, and think it's probably more likely that new allegiances will start to appear in whatever future campaign books succeed the Realmgate Wars, in the same way that 40k armies with hardback codexes released before 7th edition started getting detachments and formations to bring them up to speed with the 7th edition codexes in campaign supplements like Shield of Bhaal.
The first page of this here rumor's thread lists it as forthcoming and notes the source as a "scanner from Spikeybits."

Dude... I'm gonna have to get a subscription.
Also, can I briefly be a butt and re-ask my previous question? This Alliances of the Realms book... what's the evidence? Has anyone got a link?

I thought this had been confirmed. I find it strange that GW were so up front with the General's Handbook, and let us know it was coming way in advance, yet they make us wait for everything else. I'd love to see transparency when it comes to the release schedule.

Eh. It's a corporate decision-making culture thing. It can take a while for those sorts of things to change, and sometimes they backslide. I've been very impressed with their changes up till now, and one backward step isn't going to change that.

So... how likely do we think this one really is? Can anyone send this poor, hopeful sap a link to the Spikybits post where it was revealed?

*Sigh* I guess I deserved that.
What I meant was that some factions aren't being "neglected" so much as they are being sidelined. Permanently back-burnered. Unofficially pseudo-squatted. Technically they exist but they aren't going to play a central role in the narrative and they aren't going to get new models.
Kind of like the Sisters of Battle, except GW continues to throw them some narrative love even as the codex and model line languish.
I think that there's a difference between the way GW is treating those factions that they just abandon for years at a time, all the while claiming that they are still important and continuing to include them in the narrative, and the factions in Age of Sigmar that are clearly not viable. It's a matter of clarity.
