If the Cryptic text is anything to go off it's most likely a redone Stormcast Celestant Prime.

A redone Celestant Prime but the leaked pictures had old Celestant Prime art so I doubt it's that. Also Whitefang liked a post saying it was new Prosecutors or a new Knight Venator.

  2. Ok here's my Stormcast theory.

Dacian Anvil and Gabriel Surehart are dead.

Knight zephyros, Knight Questor, Lord Castellant, farstriders and Steelhearts's Champions are gone.

Liberators, Lord Celestant, Prosecutors,  Judicators and lord Relictor are getting new models. Prosecutors and Judicators will be just one warscroll each.

There will be about 5 new units. That would leave us with about 4 fewer warscrolls than there are now.

Interesting to see a confused react to this by Whitefang. I'm guessing no Khul,  definitely not Nighthaunt for Underworlds as they've had a warband pretty recently and presumably at least a couple of minis from the launch box.

No no. I am genuinely saying it. I ran a quick look and they were all looking different from one edition to another in 99% of the cases.

    Codices (List) - Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum

List of Warhammer: Fantasy Battles Books - Warhammer - The Old World - Lexicanum

List of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar books - Age of Sigmar - Lexicanum

I only noticed six repeating cases, all from AoS 2nd to 3rd: Skavens, Sylvaneth, GSG, FS, NH, and SBO.

The 8th edition 40k codexes mostly use art from 6th or 7th edition. The 10th edition Tyranids, Dark Angels and Admech books all reuse art. That's half the 10th edition books. The Tyranid book is the most surprising. It's the major antagonist of the edition but it uses a slightly altered version of old art. The DoK and OBR books have new covers but the art isn't new.

  5. My desires for the ruination chamber.

Push the gothic to eleven. The Dark Angels don't go nearly far enough.

Have a new type of monster as a mount. Maybe giant wolf inspired monsters but more scary and less cute than the space wolf thunder wolves.

I really like the annihilators so a new paladin unit that's similar to them armed with axes or halberds would be cool.

The regular unit could be similar to the liberators but their armour is damaged and they carry personal trophies.

A hero on a mid sized monster and a new lord relictor on foot would round out the range nicely.

    Or just in-store promotional magazines.

The title "The Mortal Realms" looks like a new edition starter freeby for introducing the setting

Yeah it's definitely this and not indexes. Indexes would either be cards or much thicker books. A free magazine to introduce the lore is a really good idea though. Even after 3 editions, there editions there are still loads of people who can't wrap their heads around the setting. A free magazine with some cool art and lore is exactly what is needed.

It's a funny leak really. It tells us exactly nothing we didn't already know. The clearest Skaven picture is of a hellpit abomination which we already have.

It's 5 days prior, with the last one coming on tuesday.

I don't think it's gonna be less than 5 teases since there's A LOT of reveals coming just outside AoS. I'm toooooootally coping (GIVE US LOVE, OH BIG HORNED ONE) but I think warcom won't waste this chance to begin building expectations.

The teasers were cool when they did sillouetes, but they've got more and more vague in the last few years. We already almost all the factions that will be shown. I'm not expecting anything surprising.

Alright, we're less then a week out from Adepticon, so if anyone on this site has managed to get a hold of unfiltered sprues of upcoming models post them now or hold your piece.

Hold your what? I had no idea this forum was into that sort of thing.

In other news I just re-watched the 40k leviathan trailer. Every single model from the launch box featured in the cinematic. From the teaser, were definitely getting a cg trailer for AoS so even if they don't show off the full box we should get a pretty good idea of the contents next week.

So given that rumours point to an index at the start of 4th edition. Anyone like to theorise what kits/subfactions/armies are being cut?

    I'll start:

    * Bonesplitterz (sad face)

    * Cities dwarves

    * Beasts of Chaos cease to exist, but some stuff gets rolled into slaves

    * endless spells and (possibly) faction terrain

    * Most fatcast from first edition: prosecutors, liberators, paladins. They'll prob get replaced with thunderstrike equivalents - we've already seen what new liberators look like in Realms of Ruin. Unsure about the fate of the pyjama-cast, or vanguard.

    * Skaven resin/metal stuff as rumoured

    * yhetees, old gorgers, cats, maneaters, firebelly, slaughtermaster

I think GW is going to be brutal next edition. For the past year or more there have been serious stock issues, with some people waiting a year to get hands on a loonshrine, for instance. Even plastic kits go out of stock for months at a time.

I get the feeling their factory or warehouse can't keep up with production demand. This is only made worse by their ever expanding catalogue. They need to cut back to make room for new releases.

The index isn't the time to make cuts. If we use 40k 10th edition as an example, all the old kits were there. It's only when the codex comes out that we see the changes. Indexes are mostly used to keep the old playerbase happy. "Look here's rules for all your old toys. Don't worry." New players are more likely to buy one of the launch factions and GW wants to encourage that. The time the changes are made is with the codex. This is the chance for GW to say "look at all this new stuff. Who cares are Razordons when we have this awesome new Spawn of Chotec."

With the possible exception of the Beasts of Chaos, I don't think they'll cut anything going into 4th edition. Resin kits will be cut and hopefully replaced when each book comes out.

As for book cuts with books I don't see anything major. With the launch of the new cities range, the biggest piece of negative feedback was about the lack of Duardin and Aelves. Gw has to realise they hit on a popular idea with the melting pots of the cities. They keep writing new fiction that features cities Duardin. It's much more likely that we see new Duardin and Aelves for cities than those ranges get dumped and the book becomes human only.

The reason the new minis are all humans is because three years ago when gw were planning the new range, everyone was asking about normal humans. We've seen this time and time again with AoS. Remember when people were complaining about the lack of Aelves in the setting or when their were complaints that Death hadn't got any AoS minis yet.

TLDR Resin models will go away but it will continue to happen gradually.  Indexes will include ALL current models. Cities Duardin and Aelves aren't going anywhere but could get new sculpts. Beasts of Chaos- who knows??

Oh, it's not that I didn't expect it, but it took me for suprise that they would erase such an iconic unit of the army (vespids) when the update is around the corner. Just had to hold on resin for, what, like 6-10 months?. Makes me suspect clan Pestilens lists will have to use botafumeiros, and Moulder clan lists will be characterless if the rumours are correct.

The rumour list from @SG Warhound said the arch warlock, warlock and master moulder would all be getting new kits so Skaven probably won't be losing any characters. If anything the character roster will be getting bigger. If the rumour is to be believed, we're losing the smaller rats but gaining wolf rats.

The real question is about gutter runners (and night runners) and plague censor bearers. Clan Eshin could be looking pretty low on units in the new edition.

Ok, so, the tau codex has been leaked (not gonna pass it here until there's a reddit post) but one big takeaway for AoS armies:

-They've taken out ALL the resin. Firesight, Aun'Va, even vespids, which are suposed to have a refresh via KT, have been eliminated from the codex

So, skaven players should expect the same and not be surprised when they discover that ALL of the resin/metal stuff on the webstore stops being sold whitout a proper substitution.

That's not remotely surprising. They did the same thing with the Seraphon book. Kits like the Razordon and some of the heroes didn't get replacements. The Vespids thing is actually encouraging though. Assuming they are real(and Valrak's been pretty accurate recently),  it suggests we could see gutter runners  or plague censor bearers return in a warcry warband if they are cut from the battletome.

I wonder if they go the hero + tome route again if we are getting indexes. Doesnt make sense to me at that point to release tomes asap.

I'm sure they will. Over in 40k land they are doing it. It's just it's codex and hero model in big fomo box this time.

I think we'll get a couple of hero tomes at the end of this year. My current favourites are Soulblight and Nighthaunt. They've both done very well with minis recently.

  14. With less than a week to go to Adepticon, it's time for some predictions.

    Adepticon show.

    40k:

two chaos heroes with box sets.

Flying Sisters hero with box set.

    Agents of the imperium teaser.

    AoS:

Dawnbringers book 6 with Abraxia or whatever her name is. No other heroes.

    AoS 4th cinematic trailer

A couple of minis from the launch box shown but not the full set.

A few details about rules. Indexes are mentioned.

    Kill team:

Gsc Vs loV box. Next edition teased

    Warcry:

    Sylvaneth Vs OBR

    Underworlds:

New box set. Who knows what warbands but maybe Nurgle Vs Cities religious types.

    The Old World

Dwarves. A couple of new heroes. Would love to see the missing tank.

    Necromunda:

    Necromunda secondus teaser

    Horus Heresy:

    Plastic Admech teaser.

That would make for a pretty good show with more to look forward to in the rest of the spring.

I do hope they unify the Stormcast mounts if they're redoing the line. Like give them the flying stormdrake and maybe a non winged version for the ground? Basically make the dracoth look closer to the flying drakes.

Hard disagree. The menagerie of different creatures is one of my favourite things about the Stormcast. I hope we see another unique mount added to the range.

I think Kurnothi might still not be exactly what this forum thinks they are. They could also be 'normal' Sylvaneth that follow Kurnoth, like the Kurnoth hunters and Belthanos.

I think everyone is aware of this possibility by now, but I think it safe to say I'm not alone in much preferring the other type of Kurnothi. A Kurnothi warband in the vein of the underworlds warband or the cursed city hero would be an instant buy. Some slightly different looking Sylvaneth would not.

Also, I cannot remember now the source, so it could be something plotted in my mind, but I am quite sure that Nagash stole Stormcast souls to use them somewhere else. So we also have Death Stormcasts.

I agree, I doubt GW would cross the line of having actual Stormcast switching their GA, but for me that doesn't make it less Stormcasts turning into another GA.

If a new Space Marine is created from scratch directly under the ruinous Chaos powers would it be less Chaos Space Marine? I don't think so. Eternus is the same scenario to me.

I think we are talking at cross purposes here. Is Eternus functionally a Stormcast in the way he was made and what he does? Yes. Is it possible for Nagash and even the Skaven to make their own versions of Stormcast. Yes. OBR are kind of that already.

To me those aren't particularly interesting questions though.

For me, the interesting questions are:

Is it possible for a Stormcast to willfully turn against Sigmar in the that Archon did and what would happen to them if they tried?

How much free will do the Stormcast actually have?

What is the nature of the flaw? Was it deliberately engineered? Can it be reversed? What would happen to knights Excelsior if they suddenly got all their memories back?

    How benevolent is Sigmar?

    Can Stormcast actually die?

    I'm sure there are more.

The question of whether another power can copy the process of making a Stormcast isn't interesting to me simply because the answer is clearly yes.

Well, Stormcasts are just souls forged by the Azyr/ lighting powers. He is a Varanguard whose soul is forged by those same powers. He is a chaos stormcast.

Yeah but the lore implications are not remotely the same. We've yet to see a Stormcast switch factions from order. That is a lever that GW has resisted pulling so far. Eternus was a chaos worshipper the whole time. He just switched from supporting Archon to Belakor.

  19. Very excited to see the full cg trailer at Adepticon. Don't expect to see more than a couple of minis from each faction but the trailer will probably give hints about the rest.

As for the lie, my feeling is that he lied about the possibility of a cure. He knew the search of the sacrosanct chamber would yield nothing. The flaw is inherent to the process and he lied about it  in order to give the Stormcast hope that a cure could be found. Also turning into a lightning gheist is a matter of when and not if. Also I don't think we're going to see Stormcast turn to chaos. What if a bunch of them try to give up the fight and return to their old lives only to be treated like monsters by their old families? This could make them to to Nagash to preserve their souls and we finally get Deathcast Eternals.

Looks like Katakros might end up becoming the main character of Death this edition, given him giving out orders during DB4 to halt expansion and take up defenses and this most recent White Dwarf segment featuring Karash, his Liege-Immortis.

    image0.jpeg

It would make sense. OBR is definitely the next death faction in line for an update. Soulblight got a massive update at the end of Second edition. Nighthaunt will end up with 5 3rd edition kits and FEC just got a big update. I'm much more confident that OBR will get a second wave than I am about Fyreslayers, KO or IDK.
