Would you suggest more than one set of any other units?

I would advise you don't get many multiples of the same unit, since in a couple of months we'll have the other half of the model/warscroll range and our list building will have many more options thus enabling you to make more inform desicions..

So better get some units you like and go harder once the new Broken Realms book comes out! 🙂

    Here is some data

I see.. so if I read the chart correctly we are on the low end of Mid-Tier at the moment and I feel vindicated when I insisted the army is not as powerful as some players claimed.. Of course this is the beginning of the faction and I expect we go upwards with the new releases + us getting better at using the army, but I feel it is very representative for now..

Are these the AOS shorts stats?

  3. Presonally I don't feel cheated. I own both Lumineth and Daughters.

Regarding Lumineth yes I was dissapointed with the delay of their release and I would prefer more models in the initial release but I am excited we get new  shiny models and I would have bought the Broken Realms to follow the story regardless so it's all good in the end..

Regarding Daughters the last battletome was in 2018, so getting a new one now is only natural, so I'm good with it. Anyways the broken realms book left many things that needed refresh in terms of rules..

Sure, shoot a pic of all the AoS books you got and we can calculate how much you paid for them

You clearly miss the point here, so I won't continue debating with you. I have already replied regarding the cost of the books per year and there's nothing more to say really..

Let's agree to dissagree and both be happy.

I mean, mate, you're obviously not buying all the books required to keep up with those armies. Maybe you have buddies that share out their books. Maybe you pirate. I dunno, but just those armies alone is almost 300 dollars for the BRB and those battletomes. Not counting the GHB, which are required to play the game, plus malign portents that you probably bought, and broken realms now, which you are going to have to buy again. And probably a third and fourth time to keep all those armies up to date. And I am forgetting a book or two that were all the rage for like a year. You are spending dramatically more than 100 euro, or finding them through alternate means.

Personally I have bought all my Battletomes in physical copies properly. I like them so I buy them.

What you say is not correct because not all 6 of my armies get a battletome every year, main rulebook is every 3 years and campaign books with rules will not include always your armies or be available every year.

In 2020 I bought 2 books. Lumineth Battletome and Morathi Broken Realms (didn't get the GHB due to lack of gaming).

In 2019 I bought 3 books. GHB, Sylvaneth  and Cities battletomes.

So as I said it's really not that much.. 😉

  6. Sentinels are very dependant on casting their own spell in order to do the damage. If that fails or is unbound their damage output is abyssmal really..

The snake archers of Daughters of Khaine have the same damage output and do not need a spell (or two if you also want lambent light) to perform, plus with a command point Morathi can double their damage by making them shoot in the hero phase too..

Sentinels are good but they can be muted easily with good unbinds and are very squishy if the get shot first..

GW's rules delivery system is hugely out of date, and doesn't make much economic sense. Printing those hardback books is hugely expensive; most of the reason we pay so much for rules is just paying for the physical printing of the books, not their content.

Many miniature companies give away the rules for free online, realizing that their profit margins are in plastic, not in the rules. If GW started making all its rules available completely for free online (or even in the app, for the $1 a month), its profit margin would probably increase, not decrease.

I don't dissagree here and though personally I love getting new books and have the excitement of opening a brand new battletome and read the fluff and the rules (it renews my hype and interest for the faction), what you suggest may very well be a viable way, at least regarding the gaming aspect of the hobby.

Now whether that would be more profitable for GW I can't say for sure as I lack the economics background to have an informed opinion..

If you are someone for whom 100 euros is a "drop in the ocean" you are definitely GW's ideal customer, but I'm not sure about the validity (or, frankly, good taste) of trying to generalize your experience.

I would appreciate if you didn't twist my words.. I said in a previous post that 32,5 is a drop in the ocean compared to the money the vast majority of us invest in the hobby and in miniatures and that is a fact.

100 euros is not a drop in the ocean, but if one has 6 armies and wants to have all of them up to date in terms of rules having to buy 3-4 books per year is logical..

As for me, my income is quite small so 100 euros is a substantial ammount of money for me.  The fact that I got 6 armies during the lifespan of Age of Sigmar and not sticking to 1 or 2 factions only is a personal choice and the consequences mine to deal with.

I have no interest in generalizing my experience nor in forcing my view to others. I am free though to express my opinion regarding this topic. You are free to dissagree and have a different opinion of course.. 😉

because the rules sunset at best in 3 years, and at worst, like 6 months and you have had to buy the main rulebook, your battletome, two to three generals handbooks, a campaign book and a second campaign or supplement book in that 3 year time. Running you almost 300 dollars. Which could go into models and hobby supplies.

I'd prefer spending money on models honestly, and not a book that maybe has 1 page relevant to my gameplay out of 100 pages. The value ain't there for most of these books.

General's handook and main rulebook have no relation with battletomes and their cycle.. Regarding 2 campaign books this is hardly the case for any army that exists. If you prefer to use the money for the painting part of the hobby good for you, but you can't have a good ruleset with additions and fixes and not have to invest some money.

Campaign Books have also lore and advance the story.. If someone isn't interested in this part it his choice and his problem really.. If there is a book that only has one page for your army, just download it from some source or find a picture from someone who has it and that will be that

I have full armies for Stormcast Eternals, Sylvaneth, Lumineth, Cities of Sigmar, Idoneth and Daughters of Khaine and Idon't think I spend more than 100 euros per year for books.... And that is with me owning 6 full factions, so I fail to see the argument on the financial investment to be honest..

Yeah GW starting to charge £40 for 5 cavalry in Lumineth is worrying to say the least when you consider that they are fixed pose no option models. Esp when our current seekers are £17.50 and £20!

I think the worst offenders are the Alarith Stoneguard in the case of lumineth (and seeing the Swordmasters in the preview video be 5 models makes me think the Swordmasters will get the same treatment) were for the same price you get 10 Wardens or 10 Sentinels you only get 5 Stoneguard.. Mind you we are talikng about the same size of models.. So with the same money you get half the models.. This in my opinion is one of the most agressive price raises in the last years from GW and makes me think that will be the new trend..

I think we all want upgrades, but not too quickly :) to take a more ridiculous hypothetical, let's say you play Khorne. If Khorne got a battletome with a few new heroes, you might well think that's great - and I'd agree, it's good to keep armies up to date. I'd see it as a problem if you got a second Khorne battletome with a load of new models two months later. The first battletome would have felt like a wasted purchase, and you may have bought models to fit into a battalion that no longer exists before you even got the chance to paint them.

Obviously Lumineth, Slaanesh, and DoK are nowhere near this bad. I think the question is 'how soon is too soon?' I think everyone would agree that an update a month would be confusing, messy, and unsustainable, but is a new battletome every year too quick? I think that's a point of contention.

I think so far with a few exceptions battletomes have a 2 year cycle... I believe the sweet spot is between 1,5 year the soonest and 2,5 years the latest depending on the state of the army rules-wise and the number of new models ready to be released..

  12. 1 hour ago, Overread said:

I think its worse right now because over the last year many of us have been unable to properly game at all. So for very new tomes (Slaanesh) and for those who bought into armies in the last year or so; the tomes have sat mostly unused for games. People have been able to buy and build and paint but not really game properly in many regions.

So it feels more like a worthless purchase because we've not had the fun out of them in the game area.

My view is that so long as a fast update comes with a chunky change I'm ok with it. Slaanesh getting this new Battletome so soon after the first is fine for me because they are near doubling the range of models in the army. They are giving a huge update to the form and function of the army in one big go so I'm ok with a faster turn around because it means I'm getting a huge chunk of new models to play with. I also know that GW is not going to do this again in 1 year, if anything Slaanesh will likely now slip to the back and might not get anything outside of a token model or warcry warband for several years now.

That said I think those who have one army and buy into Generals Handbooks feel it more so as well; they've 1 army but they need 2 books to run it; 3 if there's a campaign book like Morathi. That starts to become a lot of paperwork for running 1 force. Those who tend to complain less can sometimes do so because they are in the middle - they've enough armies that campaign and general books update several of their forces at once; but not so many that they feel overburdened with battletome purchases. Then there's collectors/competitive players who want to own every book and they really feel the pressure of an accelerated release rate - but they aren't GW's target market as such - they are an exception to the norm.

I agree with your points.  They are valid. I can see why some people may feel uneasy..

But isn't it better that our armies remain relevant to the game and expand with shiny new models? We all know that there are many instances where some units in a battletome are in bad shape and need an update.. Or the whole battletome needs a refresh to keep up..

Isn't ite better to get the updates? Don't we all want new models to sink our teeth in? I started playing Warhammer back in the 6th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battles and I vividly remember the nightmare of having to wait 3 or 4 years to get an update on the book.. If it was good, great but if it was bad you were stuck with crappy rules for years..

Now we have a living breathing game were we get a nice stream of new things to get excited for.. Even the metagame changing is nice and keeps things fresh and interesting! And again it's not that much of an investment.. The Lumineth battletome is 32.50 euros.. with the same ammount I can get an Alarith Stonmage blister.. So for me not being able to get an extra Stonemage is really a small price to get new exciting rules and lore to have fun with!!

The reply is not directed to you as we more or less agree ut to all the guys/gals who feel bad for the quicker releases.. I wanted to give a more possitive viewpoint.. 🙂

I think right now they are planing for a release in March. Because that's when the accompanying novel is scheduled to become available. At the first release of the LRL GW did the same thing with a tie-in novel published at the same time.

Now the novel at first was scheduled to be released in February, but they recently changed it to March. So that's something to watch.

Ι am of the same opinion and I hope both of us are correct!

The delay/wait all these months for the release last year really did a number on the excitment for me.. 😅

Yup, very likely a Lady. The named hero might be a guy. So far, both of the unnamed Lumineth heroes have been female, as well as some of the unit champions.

I hope it is a dude or worse case scenario have both options.. I need my avatar on the field of battle!!

If it is a she I will for sure make some type of conversion.. 🙂

  15. Thinking back from all the artworks it seems they really wanted to push the Alarith aspect of the range.. Battletome cover + both Novel covers + Soulbound cover all depict Stoneguard as the main focus... It's like the army has no other units.. 😛

Regarding the mount it could still be a non-feather chocobo style creature.. Long-limbed does not mean four-legged..

I bought the case with it. What I bought was called PACK 720 Mole Lumineth Starter Load Out or something like that.

I see! I will check it out because in the summer I searched high and low on their site and all the cases were either too big or too small and I ended up putting the foams in a bag which is far from the optimum choice.. 😅

Thanks for the help mate! 🙂

Today I’ve received my Battle Foam Lumineth custum-cut foams. As mentioned, this is only to show an alternative to people who can’t easily use magnets. The models fit well, and are relatively easy to put in and out (wardens, sentinels were easier than Dawnriders). You can have a bit of friction, so I have to see in the long run how well it works, but so far it looks good. The box is also really sturdy.

I have bought the same foams myself but I haven't found a case for their size... Did you get it also from battlefoam or from another company? 🙂

Sorry but that is 100% the same sentence that every player playing a overpower class in a mmorpg gives moments before of getting nerfed.

I agree that every other monster need buffs, and i would prefer that, but as the time have showed us every company only need nerf the single class\unit that is overpower in place of many buffs to others to bring them to his place

I wrote the reasons Leviadon is fine. You are free to disagree of course.

The point is to fix all monsters and not keep making sub par warscrolls for them. As I said the monsters of all armies should be good not just Leviadon, so you implying that I am a powerplayer only caring for myself winning is not a valid point..

Nerfing the Leviadon makes all monsters bad which I believe is not what we want if we want to see diverse armies on the tables.. 🙂

  19. The Leviadon is fine! Most of the other monsters are sub-par..

GW for the first time seems to get better at creating monster warscrolls. These big monsters NEED to hit like a ton of bricks imo and I hope all the other armies get powerful monsters so we can see them more in competitive play.. 🙂
