  1. I know it was stated, but is the Darkoath expansion maybe a glimpse of what we could get with COS? We could easily get a dwarf expansion of like 5 warscrolls that could be used alongside COS or as their own subfaction. We have seen 40K do this with the new Kroot, even though it's a much larger expansion. From a gameplay standpoint many of the armies are fleshed out and while many just want models as cool concepts to add to an army there has to be a balance between the two. COS seems like it was left completely open from a design space so that it could continually add things to it over time. Look at all the extra units Nighthaunt has gotten since it's original release. I could see a similar pattern for COS. Unfortunately, from a logistics and business perspective the process to give us what we want is very slow!
  2. The Darkoath models are brilliant. But is it just me or does the art on the boxes seem so elegant and cool!! It feels more like a limited edition item. Might buy just because of the box….
  3. Definitely think BOC will get updated. Would be a bad look to have an army that’s been in the game for almost 10 years get completely wiped without an alternative. I imagine it will be a cities type deal. Where a few kits will stay and the rest would be reimagined, revamped or redone. Seeing how they handle the Skaven launch will probably give us a solid idea of what to expect.
  4. Whitefang hinted before that Vandus could finally officially die. Maybe death means that stormcast are actually in fear of dying without reforging during next edition.
  5. I definitely feel like we will see some sort of refresh/new third part of the warclans. How similar or different to bonesplitazz I’m not sure, but I feel there is still a gap to complete the AOS orruck race. Going into the new year and the rapid speed of Dawnbringers I had this overly optimistic thought that maybe they would drop right before 4th to close out the Ghur/beast edition, but then when Dawnbringers 4 stringed us along for three months I realized they were probably pushing the series to the end of 3rd editon
  6. Do we fully expect the new launch box to be filled with remade models? Are people going to run to buy the box with remade liberators and clanrats? Quite possibly yes, lol but for some reason I feel like we are going to see a completely new clan to launch the edition and then over the edition the other Skaven models will be replaced or axed.
  7. I know sylvaneth has gotten a lot of love over the life span of AOS but I agree that the one spot it is lacking is the "darker" side of the army. Drycha and the spites could use another unit of two and then I feel the trees would be good till the end of time!
  8. Could Krethusa possibly be the glue that would set up a Malerion/DOK book? She opposes Morathi and has a different dark aelf look. Could she be the main character of their version of the waghh for a mixed dark aelf sub faction. Maybe those Mandrakes have me hard on Malerion hopium but growing sense he’s getting close
  9. So this is where I feel another big difference between WHFB/TOW and AOS lies. TOW seems like vast armies fighting giant wars against each other with tons of models. AOS feels more exaggerated skirmish. Where there are random groups of whatever in a battle. I feel the lore often leans that way as the story progresses. Most dawnbringer battles have been small execursions of an army. So think you said it perfectly. These aren’t armies. They are large warbands and I feel that’s intentional from the design of the game and the lore.
  10. Still. pretty badass. I'd love for Ushoran to become more prominent. I find Nagash stale.
  11. I don’t expect the new Chaos Dwarves to resemble the old ones. Again, looking at all the new stuff based upon old stuff they usually go in a different direction. In theory a dwarf can follow or be corrupted by chaos and could be into a million different things while still having a few call back strings. Sylvaneth is an example of this. They are wood elf’s without being wood elf’s. I also think the game can only handle so many armies. Chaos already has a decent sized roster. I’m in the same boat as some others have recommended that in some way, ideas from beasts of chaos might be mixed with ideas from chaos dwarves. While many will say their old lore would never matchup. GW can basically write it anyway they want. I for one think it would be amazing to have evil dwarfs taming/enslaving jabberslythes and bull/goat and whatever the hell you can come up with to help them conquer territory.
  12. When looking at the core faction list for TOW it appears that GW has innovated and reimagined a lot of previous designs into something new. AOS 1 took on a lot of these armies and models for use early in the game. AOS 2 saw us lose Tomb Kings and classic orcs. AOS 3 saw the removal of classic COS units like Wanderers and other empire things. Most of these things were reincarnated into something else. Tomb Kings led way for OBR transformation. Ironjawz and Kruleboyz have replace classic Orc tribes. High Elves into Lumineth, Wood elves into Sylvaneth, Empire of man into new human Cities…etc. Following this trend, it would seem likely that we would get beastmen/beasts of chaos into a complete reimagining. What that means I’m not sure. But is kind of exciting at the same time.
  13. Beastmen = TOW Beast of Chaos = AOS There’s an important difference there. BOC doesn’t mean there HAS to be beastmen. While certain elements have been written in AOS lore, it’s not impossible to switch things up a bit. Also keep in mind the rumor does say “likely will be cut at some point” extremely vague and wishlisty. The oggroids seem to be the AOS spin of “beastmen” style creatures. I could see them being expanded upon considering they like to build from existing designs for new models. From my perspective GW cares a lot about the aesthetic look of models on a table. When you look at a game of AOS as an outsider its unique in terms of creativity, model design and quality of sculpts. Especially, when 3D printing is rampant. They have to raise the level to force consumers to buy their product over a cheaper competitor. They do not want those older lower quality models on display for potential customers to see. Hence why 3.0 was all about cleaning up existing Old World models. If I was a betting man. And I unfortunately am….. I’m guessing the current line will go to TOW. Maybe fully at 4.0 launch. However, at some point we will see a new Chaos beast type faction. I could even see if somehow meshing with chaos dwarves with the shaggoths and whatnot.
  14. I feel like with a unique paint job it could be added to another army. I always felt like the original incarnate dragon would have been an awesome model for OBR specifically. Could have been a cool one off monster for them summoned by a bone shaper or something. Especially with the lore of OBR the death version of stormcast. Would have been a cool design to be their answers to the Stormcast dragons. Bone spider might be a bit more difficult. I guess it could be a one off monster for gitz as they summoned a spider?
  15. I think you’ll see additional models not a re-do. Similar to what IJ got. They will keep all the old stuff current like they did with FEC
  16. I see a huge difference in the sculpting. AOS has more defined depth and edging in their models. Tbh I couldn’t tell what that was around the bones at first in the tomb swarm. I had to zoom in.
  17. Kurnothi feels like a must. I wonder if we will see expansions of these subfactions through COS. Especially with the regiments of reknown rules. Kind of feels like testing/forshadowing. Dropping 3-4 units of Kurnothi would make sense since it could work with both Cities and Sylvaneth.
  18. I don’t assume we will be getting anything else exciting till after new year. I feel like this is always the slow time and then they kick the door in come January. They like to use the New Year New Army motto to start the hype train again.
  19. This is a good counter point as Tyranids would very similar to Skaven relaunch. My only push back would be those revamps came in later editions. I wonder if they would roll that type of revamp for 4th edition of the game. However, to go along with your point even more Idomitus and levithan box sold very well.
  20. Was thinking about all three edition launches of AOS. Khorne got a ton of new stuff but was an already established army. This makes sense as it was a new game and wanted an easier transition, just like TOW is doing with its starter armies. This makes sense from a business standpoint because you want to make an easier ramp into a new launch. However, nighthaunt and Kruleboyz were completely new aesthetics. This is important because they want people to HAVE to buy new models. If Skaven is going to be a launch army for 4.0 it doesn’t make sense for them to redo kits and sell them. They will lose some buyers because people don’t want to spend money on a new model. This leads me to believe that we will get a completely new type of Sub faction of Skaven. Similar to Kruleboyz andWarclans.
  21. This!! Season of war Thondia was great. The GHB is great. However, I think I'd like to see these combined more into the yearly thing. A larger book with new rules and battleplans alongside the lore of a region or realm is the best of both worlds.
  22. I know that there are heavy rumors that new Skaven are coming and that it will be with 4.0 launch….. however, I always found it odd that they would launch the new edition with current armies on both sides and nothing new. What if Skaven are refreshed and released prior to 4.0?!? We know there should be a chaos Dawnbringers book and Skaven could wind up showing up there. Narratively it could make sense as well. With all the humans traveling around the cities could be left unattended for Skaven to hatch a big plan that then pushes the narrative toward 4.0 and the aftermath of their actions. They could have a release that mirrors FEC. Maybe, maybe not
  23. I feel like this was the consensus on Nighthaunt until their latest Battletome. I think most completely new factions struggle because it takes time to get solid feel for their identity. Shoot a lot of the first edition armies didn’t really find their way till the third or fourth try. I expect Kruleboyz to find their way whenever they get their next rules release.
