I mean, with 11 attacks 3+/3+/-1/1 you have to be pretty unlucky to not do at least one wound on the vast majority of units, and the +1 to hit last in shotting AND melee phase, and can affect several units at once if they attack the same target. It seems good value for me.

Lord-Arcanum on Tauralon has his Comet Trail ability, which lasts until your next hero phase. There is no prerequisite to it other than the shooting unit must be within 3" of the Tauralon.

LA on Tauralon also has better damage, equal wounds, better save, is a flying 14" monster/wizard for only 90 more points. And also can trigger Cycle of the Storm (watch @PJetski's Stormkeep video to see how/why it is good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qbwMyCH-ek&t=82s&ab_channel=TheStormkeep)

If you are committing to Vigilors for the +1 to hit bonus, the you should fully commit and spend the extra 90 points to upgrade them to a Tauralon every time.

Why do people don't like vigilor ? They don't strike me as top tier but their damage for their cost doesn't seems that low compared to our other ranged units, their melee profile is actually quite correct and the +1 to hit they can give to many of our units seems to be more than worth it and compensante their slighlty lower damage output

    Plus the models are magnificient

It's best to compare them to Judicators, since the Vigilors are only 5 points cheaper
    Less damage than Juds
    Less range than Juds
Target must take a wound in order to activate the +1 to hit (there are better/more reliable sources of +1 to hit)

Overall they are too expensive for what they do, and there are better options for the point cost.

I completely agree that the models look beautiful though.

I played that a bit actually and I can say that this is due to several reasons. but one of the absolute main attractions of that list was the grasping plate artifact that allows a big unit of varanguard to engage and pile in within 6", that is still good, but far less reliable due to reposition. Also Varanguard damage output suffered a lot being only rend 1, which does not really cut it against the save stacking meta.

I have seen it be played in 3.0 and it can still win, but it aged very poorly into AoS 3.0 and the emerging meta lists also completely wrecks them, as this big unwieldy unit needs to do just about all the work in the list and if they get tied up with a Morathi, Gotrek or Nagash etc it is quickly game over.

Yeah all of that seems about right lmao. I have my own Archaon/Varanguard army but I was never confident enough in Varanguard to run a KotET list. But I was happy to see at least one non-Archaon list making the rounds.

Hopefully we will see more diversity in SCE in 2022 than STD is seeing.

...because they have never nerfed anything else that's been a problem?

They have also power-crept the game to a much higher state. Sure they have taken steps to slow the growth, but have not reverted it in any significant way.

GW has been nerfing strong stuff from the very first GHB. It has happened every year for five years now. He is basing an argument on saying that is not true. Are GW bad at it? Absolutely, but that isn't what he said.

dare to call out when someone is trying to undermine my argument with points that are objectively untrue but I'm the bad guy. Real friendly community you are promoting here, where members are criticized for defending themselves.

No one has called you the bad guy and no one has criticized you for defending your point. We are disagreeing with you, and you seem to be taking it as a personal attack by assuming people are being intentionally disrespectful to you.

I think this conversation has no where to go but downwards, so these will be my final words on the topic.

Because letting toxicity ferment without addressing it will just breed more.

I would be careful presuming you objectively know GW’s interests and disinterests based off a single FAQ.

Even with the Archaon’s nerf to his rerolling 6s, I still feel like he is incredibly top tier (I still have like a 90% WR with him). So much so that he still dominates the meta alongside Lumineth, SoB, and DoK. Just because GW nerfed Archaon in the most recent FAQ does not mean they are interested in nerfing the top four factions down to an equal level. At least for sure it isn’t an objective truth. And there certainly is enough wiggle room to presume that someone else is not being toxic by stating otherwise

If you aren't going to treat me with even a basic level of respect, there's nothing else I have to say.

I think it’s bad-faith you assume he isn’t treating you with a basic level of respect.

I think we should just cool off. I don’t believe anyone here is intentionally trying to be rude or disrespectful. And we all just wanna talk about the game 👍

In the Rumour Thread they are stating that we won't see any dragons until christmas, because of problems with the moulds. On one side it's a pity that we have to wait that long for them, on the other side, they eventually survive the winter FAQ that way. They will be hit with the nerf-hammer definitely...

I've heard that it also has to do with the global shipping crisis. I've had a box of secondary market 40k models from china that has been sitting still since early July. And with no updates in sight, it could be a while before I get any type of product. I'm sure this has been affecting GW big time.

As much as I am frustrated that we aren't getting our models, I'm not entirely sure it is GW's fault. So I'm gonna extend my patience and hope for the best.

Paladins would be pretty weak without some means of teleporting in 9" away from the enemy.

I mean to be fair Scions of the Storm is not great unless you’re specifically using Annihilators or using it to keep units alive from an alpha strike. It just doesn’t have the consistent, offensive potential that a first glance might suggest. And I don’t want to bring a Knight-Vexillor just for the 1/game TP.

I think the main reason I don’t want Translocate to change is because it makes a lot of units competitively viable that wouldn’t be otherwise. I enjoy the (competitive) roster flexibility that Translocate brings to the battletome.

Great content! Question: how viable are the lists if Translocation is FAQed so that the unit cannot move after it? Specifically, are Protectors still strong given their 4" movement? For example, would you swap Protectors for something else in the Hallowstrike list or the final list (9. Grandslammer by Martijn)?

If Translocate is FAQ'd, then the vast majority of stormcast is no longer viable. Basically only Stormdrake guard lists would be viable.

Nothing in AOS happens simultaneously. All attacks, abilities, and effects are resolved one at a time. If they happen at the same time (eg. "at the end of a phase") then you still resolve them one at a time. Fully resolve one effect before moving on to the next.

You can drop Imperatant with Scions and then the Annihilators >7" away since the Imperatant is now on the battlefield.

I assumed this was the case because all of the triggers happen at the end of the movement phase, but it still is tricky.

  11. Here is a question about Annihilators (Both variants). Their warscroll states under Blazing Impact: "In addition, you can re-roll charge rolls for this unit if it was set up on the battlefield in the same turn." Would this work with Translocate? It is separate from the previous clause (D3 MW within 10") which procs when they are set up on the battlefield for the first time.

So if I, for example, was to drop the Annihilators with Scions in on turn 1. Then on turn 2 I translocate them to another point on the map, would they get to re-roll charges?

EDIT: Another question. If a Lord-Imperatant deepstrikes first with Scions, could he then guide a Thunderstrike unit that lands after him on the same turn?

I would agree with this, the difference between Liberators and Vindictors is very minimal. If you don't give them save buffs the 3+ save characteristic is exactly the same as a 4+ save with +1 to save rolls.

In the original post I was asking about Vindictors to Sequitors. Would it be more valuable to save the points for a triumph rather than upgrade them?
