  1. Definitely an interesting read. I really want to play an all-dragon or dragon-ish list and have been considering a number of things. Here's what I've been considering so far: Krondys Knight-Draconis Knight-Azyros Stormdrake Guard (swords) Stormdrake Guard (swords) Fulminators Desolators This comes really close to 2000 points if I have my math right. Krondys does Krondys things, the Knight-Azyros gets the Mirrorshield so he can't be gunned down outside of 9", and subsequently has an important role to play. He can fly, he can move pretty quick, and he can point at a unit and give your other units +1 to hit it. Going from 3+ to hit to 2+ to hit on a beefy unit that you want to kill will really help with all of the extra attacks you get, for your Fulminators, for your mounts attacks, and a bunch of other things. Of course, you have to take Hammers of Sigmar to make this list legal, but a 6+++ FNP isn't too bad, considering so many of your models have so many wounds. I mean, heck, this is 11 models with 94 wounds? All with a 3+ save and none moving slower than 10"? That seems pretty spicy to me. Also consider that all the Stormdrake, including Krondys and the Knight-Draconis, do mortal wounds on 5's according to their wounds within 1" when they are slain. That means you're either forcing your opponent to not get as many attacks in, or you're doing an extra 2-3 mortal wounds every time a Stormdrake Guard model goes down. In terms of other support units, I don't think we should count out Dracolines. They fit the 'dragon-ish' theme and, as stated before, can do some pretty decent damage. From there, it's really a matter of figuring out what support heroes or characters might be able to keep up or give you really important bonuses to help your damage output. Looking through the battletome... Lorc-Arcanum on Dracoline has the ability to keep an expensive model alive on 1 wound. As far as I can tell, there's not a lot of limit to this ability, only that it's gotta be within 18" of that model when they are slain. The Lord Arcanum on Gryph-Charger has this ability as well, and also has a healing spell that can help keep your very few units alive, as well as a redeploy mechanic, letting you put it exactly where you want it to give the most support. It's not a dragon, but with its redeploy mechanic it can be anywhere you want. The Knight-Heraldor lost it's very handy ability to help other units re-roll charges, but now it can do mortal wounds to enemies that get too close to terrain features. If a unit of snipers tries to hide in some terrain, blast them with Thunderblast every turn. Still might not be worth it... And of course there's the Celestar Ballista. Considering your other units will likely be able to hem the enemy in where you want them, or at least limit their movement with your sheer speed, you'll likely be able to get quite a few shots off uncontested with this nifty little weapon. It may not be dragony, but I feel like it'd still be a good support unit in a dragon army.
  2. From what I understand of GW's practices, a lot of times models are loaded up into their warehouses months ahead of time to prepare for simultaneous distribution to all the game stores around the world on release day. It's more likely that they're just struggling to keep an even cash flow while also being behind on releasing big-name things like Black Templar. The Aeronautica stuff was also really overdue. I'm sure now the schedule is going to struggle between the rest of the stormcast stuff and the rest of the Black Templar stuff while also prepping for the next wave of releases and also struggling with global supply chain issues.
  3. I'm still hoping for the 'sleeker dragon cavalry', but at this point I'm also ready to be disappointed. Will be interesting to see what the 'Dawnbringer Crusades' are, and the terrain for the Stormcast that we've seen in the background of the videos.
  4. Great stuff. I look forward to slaying these new stormcast and orks in the name of my vampire lord.
  5. It's always tough to say, and impossible to know, the numbers that GW is looking at behind the scenes. Kharadron Overlords remain incredibly popular for their unique playstyle and thematic models, but Fyreslayers are a tough sell. Naked mohawk dwarves? Not many people want to look at that. But, it doesn't push out the idea of a new Dwarven faction. GW has been pretty indecisive with certain AoS factions, like the beastclaw raiders and ogors. They split them up, only to mash them together again, despite trying to give each a very different thematic feel, lore, and style of play. We'll see what happens. Dwarf players tend to be as stubborn and resistant to change as the lore of the models they collect, whereas elf players seem pretty pleased with just about anything.
  6. The issue with releasing small numbers of units more often is that it means they'll release more books more often as well. I would prefer fewer books, big releases, and a cycle that actually sees armies get updated, rather than 10 waves of space marines.
  7. FW's development has been pretty much devoted to Old World and potential future Horus Heresy stuff. It doesn't surprise me at all that they've produced nearly nothing for Age of Sigmar. There are a handful of Titanicus upgrades, some Necromunda characters, and then the rest of Forgeworld's business model is Horus Heresy (with a few things that get 40k rules and so end up in the 40k side of things too) I'll definitely be hoping they expand on a few factions going forward too. Deepkin, Fyreslayers, Kharadron... small factions that need some expanding. Skaven, Seraphon, Sylvaneth, old factions that need some help... We'll see how they do it.
  8. If GW does the same thing they did with 40k, there will be the big Dominion box, but the rest will be available later. The only thing you'll miss out on will be the savings. Indomitus saved a lot of money over buying things individually, but all of the models are still available, there was nothing really 'limited' about it IIRC. The interesting part to me will be the boxes that come out after the fact. With 40k, the new 'core starter set' has fewer models but more terrain. I wonder if we'll see that in AoS too? Stormcast and Gobbos and some terrain and a board to play on.
  9. Hey all! First time poster, long time lurker. I have just begun a Stormcast army, knowing that we're likely going to get some updates soon with Yndrasta and the like. I've always been fascinated by dragons, and Stormcast are really the only army that really have a proper dragon! So, I want to make an army around it! I've got the Stardrake, and I've got some Dracothian guard coming soon, along with a few other units (liberators, judicators, the full boxes, not the etb), and I was wondering what else I might need to really get the most out of the Stardrake and Dracoth units? Are there any particular Leaders, Heroes, or Wizards that help these units really shine? Also, how would you recommend I equip the Stardrake? As a Drakesworn, or Celestant? The Celestant's ability to buff the Dracoths seems really good, or is it? Thanks so much for your help!
  10. Have we talked about how the 'wolf foot on swampy ruins' rumor engine could actually be the 'light dragon cavalry' that the Stormcast are rumored to be getting? I completely forget where I heard this, but I'm sure I read earlier on that Stormcast were expected to get new light-dracoth cavalry, and I'm actually building a Stardrake right now and the back foot of the stardrake reminds me remarkably of that rumor engine.
