  1. I am hoping for a surprise IDK/Maggotkin release. Sort of like when the DOK/Slaanesh release came out that I was not expecting. I am sure some people followed rumours more closely or may have had an idea but for me the DOK release came out of left field. Would be pleasantly surprised to see this :). Not a rumour but hopeful speculation that I could see happening.

I'm hoping for 2 things character wise for Mawtribes in 3.0.

8 new plastic Maneaters, each representing a different Realm.

Globb Glittermaw and Frost King Braggoth Vardruk getting models.

    Firebellys for 3.0!!

If Ogors receive a model refresh I fear for my wallet :p. Between adding a very large SBGL and DOK I should probably take it easy....but if Malerion comes out to play or new Ogors...or Duardin or even updated Seraphon sculpts (love Kroak but still too much derp) I couldn't help myself 😀.

I understand why GW did what they did but I'm still avoiding as many spoilers as I can for BR Kragnos, I'm excited for Destruction to finally be here and I hope that continues into 3.0, if they become another footnote this Edition and the only new minis they recieve are the new 'Morruks' and an Underworlds Warband or two I'll be gargantually disappointed.

We need that Big O energy. New Ogor minis 2021 lettttssss go.

  4. This hobby is so expensive and when you put all the time, effort and money into an army you usually want to see GW put continued effort into it as well. You get wrapped up in lore, rumours and tournament play and I find are usually rooting for the armies you play at events. All this considered, if I was a Fyreslayer player or KO player (I did play KO btw and sold my army recently) I wouldn't be happy to see me army souped. I don't mind something being added in the lore but if I play army A and it is souped with army B I would be kind of annoyed personally because if I wanted to play a different army I would have done so in the first place. I would prefer they add on to these armies and keep them separate. Maybe add some souping rules in an expansion or white dwarf. However, I do know some love the idea of KO and Fyreslayers being together and that's ok too. I would just love to see Fyreslayers expanded on. Possibly because I have 20 Hearthguard sitting around and am listening to Realmslayer currently :p.

  5. I would absolutely love for Fyreslayers to get a few new models and some love from GW. I have 20 Hearthguard painted up just because I love the models and lore. If GW shows them some love then I will too and start the faction...here's hoping. Also, It would be fantastic to see Ogors get a re vamp this year too with updated sculpts for things like Gluttons.

I'm suprised we got a Rumour Engine today!! But damn this teasing is so much fun, the only downside is (If you can even call it one?) that I'll be away camping next weekend and will have to await until Monday to see everything revealed!! I'll have to hike to a top of a mountain or something to get signal because this reveal is going to blow my Gargant socks off.

Those are some mighty big socks to fill! Ohhh baby I am hoping for a Tiki Mask-Crash Bandicoot style army with some dark swamp flair. Bring on the creepy little gribbly monsters.

I miss the times when GW sculpted women models to be femine...

That is nice for you. I am sorry you can't **** off to your feminine miniatures anymore but she is a badass chaos warrior. I am not sure if being "feminine" is her number one priority 😂

it's in mortal wounds on sixes for zombies, grave guard and the spirit hosts carrying manny, nef, mortis, throne, & palanquin; impact hits for lauka/venga/mounted wight king/black knights; screams on terrorgheists & mortis engines; and Vhordrai's lance.

Not a great answer, but there you go.

but yeah, dang would wight kings granting +1 rend to deathrattle units have been nice.  Maybe not nice enough to make them could, but enough that I wouldn't be feeling so bad about the lousy new gorgeous wight king and their terrible, terrible black knights.

That would require getting your 4 inch move units into the protected units you really want to deal MWs too. I find with MW output you are usually targeting high priority and strong units that tend to be fast or protected. I do like Lauka but it is not very reliable. Terrorgheists seem kind of weak for their points in Kastelai and Vyrkos and Vhordrai....he is just a boss. I feel you but I do think there is still a weakness with having no shooting, unreliable mw output that requires a lot of things being in place and only a few higher rend options. I do really like the book and am looking forward to playing! More observations of things I believe may be weaknesses to overcome in future games. There are def some janky and funy plays though.

Belladamma and Necromancer can pass wound to wolf/zombie, that make them pretty strong vs shooting. Zombie also do a tons of mw if you are looking for that.

I did notice that which I thought was fantastic. Zombies I am not sure what the damage output will really look like. Time will tell. I am more looking to play a "semi-comp" army with the models I enjoy so Bella and Radukar are a must.

  11. I have been taking a look throughout the book specifically for abilities to help with shooting based armies. I find in general I don't rate casting highly with murderers row running around (Teclis etc) and find the hardest armies to deal with have high mobility, MW output and shooting. We seem to lack MW output and shooting and high powered casting but who knows what is going on with 3rd edition :). Maybe there will be a nerf. I own a KO army and Deepkin army as well so I am not looking to smash every list I play but this book is going to take a little more work and figuring out. Should be fun!

I think the Kastelai artifact that increases the FNP to 5+ for a turn with blood knights and the innate re rolling ones will be awesome to help stop shooting alphas and the -1 to hit on a vampire lord on zombie dragon. I really didn't want to run a Zombie Dragon because the model is just....derpy. But -2 rend is so important to have. Also, the Vykros artifacts aren't out correct?

well, she is 3+ save now so it is a bit better. Also the CA says roughly "untill your next hero phase subtract 1 from rolls to hit from enemy melee weapons that have as a target soulblight gravelords units within 12" of this model".
This plus her spell and how durable skellies are tell me that LoB is the defensive faction

If only our Queen could provide -1 to hit in general for all that filthy shooting 😅

Usually when approaching things like this, my biggest interest is in units performing similarly to how they would in the lore.

I'm mainly concerned with things not being a flavour fail, for strong units to be strong, fast ones to be fast etc.

Which is why, for example, I get worried when it's looking like Blood Knights may not be our go-to tough unit/hero/monster hunters.

To me, the writers have failed even if the rules don't line up with the lore, even if the book ends up being strong.

That said, I usually have a lot of leeway and can happily ignore things not being perfect. But I guess that's where the emphasis is for me.

I understand your thought process here and can definitely respect that. I am of the belief that the lore can never really effect the game in a perfectly realistic way. Otherwise, Teclis/Nagash would be able to wipe out small armies themselves. Or for example, one space Marine could defeat 500 guardsmen etc. The lore influences the rules and then the writers try to balance (which is never perfect). If we wanted to play a perfectly balanced game we would play Chess. So far I have personally really liked everything revealed but I respect others do not.

To be fair, I played Harlequins and Deepkin for years and when 9th edition came out in 40k the Harlequins facebook group was screaming doom and gloom and I had a strong feeling they would be super competitive (which they did) and then when the Broken Realms update came out for Deepkin there were many complaining. When new updates come out I find it tends to bring out polarizing opinions aka a lot of doom and gloom. Which I get sometimes. Imagine being a Sylvaneth or Slaanesh player 😅. Enjoying more competitive play I tend to still want fluffy rules that feel lore driven that are also balanced internally. There was a 60 player tournament in Australia recently where there were 10 differect factions in the top 10 which shows the game is in a pretty decent place so I have strong hopes for the tome and rules.

Fair enough.  I haven't gotten around to that one yet.  Really need to.

As for Nef in game... Mannfred's looking fun and trolly on a rule that Nef probably won't get.  And Manny's new rule to me implies that his defensive stats aren't improving, which means nef's probably aren't improving either, which has me worried about how viable she'll be.  Hopefully we see something similarly cool for her tomorrow.

I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it. I loved it so much I was really tempted to buy a LON army right then and there but I had a feeling new models were coming. One of the fantastic things about the book without spoilers is one of the main characters is a Black Knight and the skeletons get a ton of character. I enjoyed it much more than Ulfenkarn.

I tend to not get worried or put too much thought into things until I see the entire tome and warscrolls etc but I understand that when you put a ton of money and time into your minis you want them to have strong rules. I have really liked what I have seen so far.

  15. Neferata is definitely my Mortarch of choice and I was hoping for some strong rules for her and a bit of a fools hope for Blood Knight battleline (I knew it wasn't happening). I have to say after getting into some recent lore and listening to her recent audiobook Neferata: The Dominion of Bones, she ends up resurrecting a loyal servant to be a Black Knight and it was really cool to see the character develop for this skelly boi. After listening to the audiobook I can definitely see Black Knights being batteline in her force.

  16. I'm not sure if this has been posted but I thought it was pretty cool.

I know beasts. I have spent my lives – both of them – hunting them, studying them, taking their measure as I run them to the ground and drive my spear into their sorry hides. So listen to me when I tell you of these creatures, and listen well, because it just might save you: whatever it is they want in Ghur, it goes beyond a simple desire for violence. As long as they and their Earthquake God roam free, none of us are safe.’

Maybe? This rule is weird because the core rules state

Retreats are normal moves, and units within 3" of an enemy can already make normal moves (it just needs to be a retreat). This  means either they can make an extra normal move (what?) or it's literally just saying the unit can make a retreat move (why?). Maybe the rules are changing with 3.0 but still...
    "Watertight with no ambiguity"

Mathhammer: 5 of these guys do 8-15 damage to a 4+ save on the charge (the lances have +1 damage on the charge), with no other buffs. 5 get 16 lance attacks and 15 mount attacks. This isn't bad damage, and it wouldn't take much to push them into a proper hammer

The Sword and Lances actually have the same stats :). Which I love because many times you only end up using the stronger weapon options so I feel this will help with model diversity.

  18. The Blood Knights are such a hit for me. I cannot even start with how happy I am that both the swords and lances having the same weapon profiles. Too often I find units using the same loadouts because it feels like a handicap by not taking the better option. The rules previewed  have a fantastic balance between strong for matched play and also very fluffy. Love them!
