Also we have 50mm 1" melee units....

I think we will definitely end up with the 40k rules of second rank fighting as long as the first rank can. If not it will ruin so many other armies not just beasts including the SCE poster boys with 40mm and 1" reach!

I think we will be fine with the new rules.

Some nice little bonuses and hey look, you can roar to keep them from re-rolling 1's after all.

Also I think someone questioned if Cockatrice would stay in the game and it looks like it judging from the pic for titanic duel (with the least titanic monster in the game).

This makes our herdstone a little more vulnerable, however having a dedicated cockatrice to go smashing faction terrain doesn't seem like a bad shout!!

Previously it was non-monster heroes, 40k used the 10W limit. From my understanding it's a nerf to the Shaggoth, Troggboss, Eidolons, and Radukar the beast, and a buff to the new voice of slaanesh (but not the talon, since it has 10 wounds) Not sure if there are any other effected.

Not much of a buff to the voice as they have a built in -1 anyway!

Also shaggoth is a monster so no change for us for that!

  4. Not massively thematic.... but Syn in a legions of the first prince just choosing heroes for flamers to delete.

As with no range needed it could make deleting the bigger heroes a piece of cake!

-inbuilt spell - whisper of doubt, pick 1 enemy hero, roll 3d6, if over bravery get +1 to hit (its basically just a slightly different version of mortal spell, and arguably worse than what heralds get)

I could see this this working to spike out Heroes with Blissbarb as it is just +1 to hit rather than just in combat. Essentially goodbye LoS for that hero!

So synessa has the staff of slaanesh, a weapon epitomising the prince, on a 6 it does nothing....

why couldnt talons battleshock immune work on mortals.....

It does seem mortals have just been left out a bit. It's a massive shame that the voice isn't as much of a buff piece or caster as we were expecting!

I'm pretty sure the leak mentioned run and charge. Assuming at least a 12" move (but would guess 14"), they'll be in there turn 1 if they want to be. Especially if board size is reduced like it was in 40k.

To be honest, if board size is reduced, I think it'll massively help us. The KoS will be easily able to make a first turn charge, Glutos's aura will cover more, and we will rely less on Lurid Haze. In addition, shooting units will be easier to pin down.

With a board size reduction and change to command points I can see a big switch into godseekers from lurid haze which would be nice.

Pretenders would also be a lot more viable with the extra command points !

The talon rule is worse than I thought. I thought she just gained extra attack each turn, now its just after she fights, so if shes slow she will likely get turn 2 charge (unless lurid haze which is becoming more and more the only way to play) so by turn 3 she gets +1 attack.... very scary

If they have more than one melee attack profile the +1 attack could really stack up!

My favourite quote about them is from a guy who was the Ghorros, Rambull champion of 8th ed from the Herdstone days:

"they chuck rocks,... um.... they chuck rocks" :P

I've had mixed results.  I tend to outflank my 4 monsters in Darkwalkers and push the Bullgors forward slower.  I think being cheaper is a decent shift for them.  They will hit a lone mage on a 5+ with a rr (i believe internet-stats makes that a 3+, so one should hit, and hopefully get 3.5 wounds through.

Oh wow Herdstone.. is that even still a thing? I think warseer and Dakka are probably still about.

I quite like running two as local meta has a lot of monster casters so on good days they're gone in turn two and i can dispel the little casters a bit better!

I've been running this with a fair amount of success 7/5 atm, Spawn and 2 x Cygor aren't in the battalion.

It's going to be a shame when BoC lose their battalions in 3.0

If there’s no destruction soup army with Kragnoss leading it like they’ve hinted at  in his reveal video and images I’ll be bitterly dissapointed and probably won’t bother buying either the book or Kragnoss himself.

If he is getting one it'll probably only be a two pager like with Legion of the first prince!

  11. I too love shalaxi, I love spears and polearms. Absolutely love the two from the Dread Pageant and going to be using the new SCE for a unit of myrmidesh!

I'd love slaanesh to have a group a polearm using infantry!

All this waiting is killing me now I need to know what Saturday brings with the new kragnos rules.

One worry is the voice is an absolutely amazing buff piece and we become the next Archaon home!

Yeah, autohits would also work. I would consider "count all hits as 6s", but I think that would be a bit much.

Basically, they just need to make them the best hero hunter in the game. Not "one of the best", but the actual best as that's what they were made for.

And I agree - Soulpiercer isn't good enough to justify the single attack. I'd actually like it if they took a bit from the fiends and varied the number of attacks based on the wounds of the target, with an additional +1 if they're a hero/monster.

Shalaxi definitely needed some help with getting into heroes; the challenge is cool, but can be refused for not too bad a price, or the charge can be failed if they're far away/can't fly.

They need to strike fear into an opponent who has a hero undefended. As of now, they're barely if at all scarier than a  base KoS.

Maybe damage = 1/2 would total of hero or monster. That's scary damage but the smaller heros aren't negatively impacted meaning you only throw shalaxi at a worthy foe. As first 6 v heros means you just go picking off the small fries.

Personally I think Shalaxi's spell should be just a constant ability that's always in effect, and their spell should be something that helps them reach their target (e.g. double movement and fly, but can only target heroes with their attacks that combat phase)

With shalaxi as they don't seem to be opposed to autohits have the spear autohit Vs monsters and heroes similar to the lumineth blademasters strike.

  14. Slaangors are just so gutting especially after seeing the statline from Slakefrey before the book released so much promise!

I do also like pretty much all of the book the warscrolls are pretty good a couple of nerfs on the epitome and Kos sucked but overall pretty good.

I'd really like a reason to run shalaxi though as the lore is great just nowhere near as effective as it needs to be now.

Hopefully kragnos holds some great things for us.

It's a shame that their warscroll wasn't more in line with their lore. They should've had something like -2 rend, 2 damage on their claws with the gilded weapon being 3 damage (they're supposed to be wicked strong), a +1 bravery aura for mortal hedonites (they're lavished with attention and seen as a living embodiment of Slaanesh by mortals), and run and charge with either a 6 inch pile-in or a pile in and attack on death (to represent their reckless tendency to throw themselves into the carnage).

Instead we got a paper-thin unit that hits like less than its points in daemonettes, does mortals IF they survive the combat (why? Seriously why?), and get a bonus attack if they charge (this one is fine. Not good, not great, just.. fine).

I mean if they just had double the attacks with the claws they'd have the same output as enlightened! They also need the brayherd keyword like the enlightened as them not being able to ambush sucks!!
