  1. Hi all! I wanted to feedback a bit on my first battle! Some of you helped me to understand how to perform against Skaven. It went pretty good as my opponent concede at turn 3.
The only think that disappointed me is the shrine. It was a mission with 6 objectives (and diagonale setup) and I had to setup it very very far. So not useful.
Loreseeker was gold. He was alone and survived 3 turn. He cast the rune between his unit (thanks to aetherquartz) on t1. A lot of damages, took 1 objective (only for 1 turn) and killed a flamethrower T1. Then he distracted some clan rats. And cast ambient light next turns for max damages on acolytes.
I realized how the cathallar was good when she died because of vermin lord on T3. The next battleshock was terrible.
Bladelord was very good as well. They was only 5. They well protected my cathallar and the 3 remaining for close combat did 19 attacks on rats!

Dawnriders with speed of hysh did a very good T1 but died after.
Calligrave was soso but I made the mistake to keep it in the shrine.
It was a great party. Very tricky to think about everything (especially during setup) but I liked playing LRL!

What kind of game are you playing? When I first introduce someone to Age of Sigmar I start with Core Rules + Warscrolls only, Open Play and a simple battleplan.

I already did 2 small battles just to learn the rules. This time it will be one of the objective mission chosen randomly. Thanks a lot for your advices!

  3. Guys the time has come were I need your help! As said in some previous post I never played any AoS game.

And I will fight against my best friend (who did few games) and who play Skaven (probably Skryre or pestilens)! I heard it is a terrible matchup isn't it? The party will be 1500 points. 🥴 I can use some proxies!

So please give me any advice you could have! Here are some areas of discussion. Because for now I have really no idea. 😀

    • what are the main threats (I think he has a lot of missile weapon / MW)?
    • how do I counter his "teleport" ability?
    • what is the recommended nation? Maybe illiatha trying to have multiple re-roll on sentinels and snipe the snipers? Or Alumnia to send dawnriders in melee quickly? Or Syar just because it is better?
    • any preferred hero, wizard, lore or spell?
    • any strategy to recommend? rushing in melee, trying to kill somebody in particular, protecting somebody?

    Thanks a lot in advance!!

  4. Sorry about the noob question : in this forum I see a lot of discussion speaking about persistent spell that are not LRL like cogs, spell portal, a vortex and palissade. Are they all regrouped in one bundle? Do you know where I can find the rules if I want to test them and use proxy?

BTW thanks @chosen_of_khaine for this kind of explanation before. This is very valuable for a beginner like me. I was not aware of this paradoxal rule of the donkey with 2 carrots at same distance 😀

About assault of stone, Do i understant it correctly that if i cast it on a 3+ save unit, it is useless? What if cast with a fully charged Twinstone, and a couple of more bonuses, Could be devastating to throw15+ dices.

    Yes indeed it is useless.

About the trick I thought about it as well but it sounds not viable to me. Imagine you keep your stone counter just for that, and you do 8 on your role = 15 dices (6 from the stone, 1 from zaitrec). On a 5+ save unit, you deal 1MW every 3 dices (exactly the same as sentinels with one spell) -> around 5MW. It looks to me not to so good; It would have been without the restrictions on 1, 2 and 6 I guess.

Teleport spell is amazing on Wardens

Can you please point me to a link refering to the wind spells please?

Very excited to these them out, especially the Loreseeker and the Twins.

Very candid question : don't have you too many heroes in this list?

Do you have already a plan :  loreseeker setup, 1 wizard close to 1 bladelord unit (but to cast what?), why do you need casting bonus so much (zaitrec+stone)? thanks

You do not cast it. The sanctum requires you to position it outside 3" of enemy units and with the caster inside, which is impossible if you're locked in combat. You would have to retreat from combat, yes.

Thanks! But I’m a bit disappointed then.

it means you have to succesful cast it (before charging), pray to not be dispelled. And in oponnent phase you can be conjured. Then as you are locked you canot cast it again...

I have really enjoyed the Rune of Pet.  It's been cast in both my games (I play Zaitrec so the bonus' help), and man.... it's a beast.

Thanks for the feedback. I really want to test it. But I never seen it in any list.
And I cannot answer your question. I dont know the rules very well yet! 😀

  8. With the 1st BT I was thinking I’ll never play the sanctum.
But with Indiana Jones or new heroes like Twins or regent I guess it becomes very decent?

My question is : can we cast it when the wizard is fighting? How do we place the sanctum : moving the wizard 3’ from the ennemy, or is it just impossible?

And what about the rune? Does it become good with Indiana being able to cast it quickly?

  9. What, what, what? Guys what is the garrison rule? Even without the shrine, how a unit become "garrisoning" please? :)

So you think the shrine will be deployed in our zone with a hero deployed on it? As probably noone can jump/climb unless he can fly.

Indeed, if the shrine can move it makes the CA benefit a bit pointless. On that subject, what are the CA you are using the most? I'm new to AOS (never played yet) and I think LRL don't have so much (useful) CA apart the common ones (some nation even don't have any).

This apart, I don't know if you already discussed about that, but loreseeker and calligraphe are both Scinari. Do you think they will be CATHALLAR as well? I was wondering why "absorb desper" is in battle trait and not in scinari cathallar warscroll.

Yes, seems so, no MW with that profile

I have the feeling they will suffer the comparison with wardens.

The maths are complex. But wardens will strike with 2 attacks each, with more range and with MW will do more damage even on armoured heroes...

On another subject I've spotted that with Vanashimor Banners you can roll a dice even if this is your own spell :) don't know if there is a benefit

  11. Hi everyone! I'm new to this topic, new to LRL army and new to AOS (I was a battle high elves player 15 years ago... ouch!)

I learned a lot of things reading your comments guys, so thanks a lot. I'm eager to do my first real battle : after lockdown and after assembling enough figurines.

Great to see more people being drawn to the light : ). That seems to be the general tenor - a lot more people being impressed by the second wave.

I don't have this feeling.  I mean, the new model are awesome (with a lot of movements and details). But I don't like at all their oversized helmet! What did they do?? Is it even possible to wear a 1m/20kg helmet like the new Sangoku or the two brother/sister have :D

Lyrior only getting 1 melee attack with his Lance seems like a typo surely haha

You are right. I hope the typo won't be in the new battletome. + I'm a bit disappointed about his melee range. I was hoping for him and other bladermaster a 2" because the sword is huge!
