I think there is good utility in priests and warshrine at the moment. There are some powerful abilities in the prayers to make use of

Slaughterpriest has bloodbind. This is excellent, pull a unit off an objective or away from a hero. Especially if you couple of with a sacrificial chaos spawn. Now that huge unit of god character has to go run at a rubbish throw away model and risk being charged by it so it’s tied up in combat. For extra lols this could be a unit of furies that redeploy away.

Question. Can a unit of archers which have been hit by bloodbind and run still unleash hell?

Curse is an excellent prayer to get some valuable MW output our army lacks. The best vehicle is the warshrine as it needs to be up close in combat and so is survivable, plus it synergises well with marauders.

Brass Skin is excellent for save stacking with al out defence, finest hour, garrison to negate rend on a valuable unit. I just had a wrath of Khorne blood thirster tank a lot of damage from rend 2 kurnoth hunters.

    Bloodboil is still handy

Sacrifice is still good also. Getting tithe move in hero phase avoids redeploy and unleash hell. Or fighting on the hero phase or just a bonus command point.

Skulls are great also. Armies like lumineth will have issues if the 8 goes off and unit leaders get killed.

I think one priest is a must. I am wondering if 2 has value - maybe a priest and warshrine. I may experiment w 2 and a shrine.

I play two slaughterpriests cause I usually play 6 heroes and I do not have a huge collection. I favour killing frenzy and bronzed flesh but I think I should give blood sacrifice a try. I do not have any STD models. Skulls I think are fantastic since they really mess up opponents wizards and they are two models that can block the movement.

Yes. If you have 20 then you can have 2 banners of your choice.

That is what I thought after actually reading the rules properly. I missread it initially and I think I may have cheated in a game or two where I summoned only 10 bloodletter.

  3. Rules question. Bloodletters have this rule:

STANDARD BEARERS: 1 in every 10 models in this unit can either be a Bloodsoaked Banner Bearer or Gore-drenched Icon Bearer.

Does this means I can get both banner in a unit of 10 or if I want both banners I need unit of 20.

  4. Given that clarification in FAQ confirmed that priests can only chant one prayer and "judgements" count as invocations so priest can either chant a prayer or invocation or remove other priests invocation what is the threats though on priests and prayers?

I am leaning toward having at least one priest, cause with out one you can not "deal" with opponents invocations. Heroic willpower can allow regular hero to unbind or dispel but to remove invocation you need a priest. Now depending on your "local meta" you may not have armies that use invocations but if you want to build an "all corners lists" one priest looks like a potentially good investment.

As for our invocations Bleeding Icon I think is not worth it. Looks like the weakest of the three. Skulls look really good against wizards. Not sure how prevalent magic will be in 3rd but icons paired with Altar, Bloodsecrator and potential multiple ways to unbind seems like it can cause a lot of problems to magic heavy lists. Axe I am still thinking about. If the opponent has no wizards and no priests Axe look like a nice MW dealer that can not so easily be dealt with but I am not sure how often this scenario would happen.

In the end to me Skulls look like a best option and something I would consider for more competitive games.

    What are your thought?

It's spelled out in the FAQ that its specifically so he rerolls 1s outside of BoK.

Thanks a lot. I missed that bit in the FAQ. This was the first time I played any daemons in my Blades of Khorne. I usually play Mortals only.

  6. Hi guys,

Played the game on Saturday and noticed something in the battletome and I wanted clarification. This was the first time I played Skarbrand so that is why I never read some of the rules in depth.

We have Locust of Fury ability:

You can re-roll hit rolls of 1 for attacks made by friendly KHORNE DAEMON units while they are wholly within 12" of any friendly KHORNE DAEMON HEROES, or wholly within 16" of any friendly KHORNE GREATER DAEMONS.

Now Bloodthirster of Insentiate Rage has Rage Unbound:

You can re-roll hit rolls of 1 for attacks made by this model if it made a charge move in the same turn.

This ability seems redundant in a Blades of Khorne list. If I am reading correctly Bloodthirster of Insentiate rage will always be in his own aura and will always get reroll 1 to hit from Locust of Fury. So Rage Unbound ability seems like is only useful if he is allied in non Khorne list.

Am I right or am I missing something?

  7. Hi guys,

I bought Soul War Box and Nighthaunts WarCry box. My collection at the moment is

1 Knight of Shrouds on Etheral Steed

1 Guardina of Souls with Nightmare lantern

    1 Spirit of Torment

    1 Lord Executioner

    20 Chainrasps (1 Leader)

9 Grimghast Reapers (1 Entoller of Shyish)

9 Graveglade Stalkers (1 drum guy)

    4 Murmor Banshees

I am chasing one Grimghast reaper on eBay to make a legal unit. What would you guys recommend to get this list to about 2000-2500 point that will be decent and varied for 1500 points games with friends?

Riptooth gives you a cheap dispel and the rest of the unit is small enough to fly under the radar (especially in Goretide with a ‘Stoker) where they can be flung across the map into a squishy target that will hopefully net you a few BT points. All the underworld units have a place at Khorne’a table; small and relatively squishy BT points.

If you look at them as BT then I agree. I was more looking at them rules wise as a unit that may actually do something besides die. I do not like them. But I could be wrong off course. I was wrong more then once in my life. :)

It is either Invocation or Prayer, which in my opinion is quite a nerf concidering that Invocations disappear quite fast on their own compared to Endless Spells. You can only chant 1 prayer and you summon invocations by doing exactly this.

Wrath Axe and Incon only disappear on a roll of 6 when checking the effects grade.

I thought that will be the case. That my understanding was wrong.

Even if you say that slaughter priest that could do Bronzed Flesh, Blood Boil and Wrath-Axe in one hero phase was to strong for 100 points this seems like quite a nerf considering Slaughter priest went to 110 if I remember correctly.

Regarding invocations : do they work like endless spells, aka activate in each hero phase, or only in "our" hero phase ?

The rules say they work like endless spell but doesn't say anything about their activation process, it's not very clear for me.

From the FAQ I read they move at the start of the controlling players hero phase.

After this invocation is set up and at the start of each of their hero phases, the commanding player can move this invocation as if it were a model with a Move characteristic of 8" and that can fly.

So the way I read it we get to move it when we set it up originally and at the start of each of our subsequent hero phase.

  11. Two questions regarding FAQ:

In Core rules I think they wrote priests can do one prayer plus one invocation.

20.3.1 SUMMONING INVOCATIONS In your hero phase, you can attempt to summon 1 invocation with each friendly Priest. When the prayer used to summon the invocation is answered, the invocation is set up on the battlefield as described on its warscroll. If any restrictions make it impossible to set up the invocation, then the prayer is not answered

Now with FAQ people seem to think it is either one "regular" prayer or one invocation. Which is it?

Does Wrath-Axe disappears every time it deal damage or only if I roll a 6 on the second damage effect? From the FAQ wording it looks like it is the latter.

What are people's thoughts on Magore's Fiends/Riptooth now? I like the idea of using the Goretide Ever Onwards ability along with the natural re-roll charge ability from Riptooth to send a very tight unit of them flying into the enemy. Plus they have gorefists and Magore has two rend-1 weapon profiles. They can also be good for padding out your number of Khorne units for the coalition rules. And you can put them in the Battle Regiment core battalion so their two drops can be offset.

No idea. I converted one Magore and Riptooth into Mighty Lord of Khorne and another into Exalted Deathbringer. I love the sculpts but I think their rules are relatively bad. I would not play them.

The Generals Handbook under Matched Play Battlepack rules specifically says that Coalition units can never count as Battleline, but do count as Leaders, Behemoths and Artillery. So I imagine for the vast vast majority of games Coalition units are not going to be Battleline.

Thanks a lot. Was really helpful. I haven't got GHB through my store yet so count not read that one.

    COALITION UNITS
Coalition units are ignored when determining if the units in the army are from a single faction. Coalition units cannot be generals.

Designer’s Note: Coalition units are not allied units, so the limitations that apply to allied units do not apply to them. This means that coalition units can be given one of your army’s enhancements, as long as they have the correct keywords or are of the correct unit type needed to receive it.’

so coalitions cant run your army but can benefit from its buffs put simply, as they get the keyword for the army.

so i can take a unit of bullgors in my blades of khorne and they get the khorne keyword, but that doombull can’t be my general- he has to come native from my battletome.

Thanks a lot for clarification. I read the FAQ after I posted the question. I basically quoted what I read online.

  15. I have read various discussions online about how armies will be able to use units that are not in their "core" battletome.

    My understanding is:

Allies are determined on Pitched Battle profile for each army. Battleplans tell me how much I can take of them. They can not be the general, can not be given relics and do not benefit from allegiance abilites.

Coalition units have no limit can take artefacts, be general and benefit from allegiane ability. They do not count toward mandatory battleline count.

My question is in what book/document is this "not count toward mandatory battleline count" specified? I managed to find all the other stuff regarding allies and coalition units.

    Thanks in advance

Since it's slowed down I wanted to ask a question that got ignored earlier. Would it be acceptable having more than 1 color scheme on the table as long as they're based the same? I've got old color schemes I tried out that look good, but I now am switching to an easier scheme. Do I need to strip them and redo them or would using a stormhost's rules still be fine?

Are there examples of stormhosts mixing for battles or even a campaign? I remember them being in the same battle, but working more as separate entities.

Thanks for any help, For Sigmar!

For tournaments I am not sure. For a casual game depends on the opponent. I honestly would not care if you had five different color schemes for your Stormcasts.

  17. Rules question

    Slaughterborn:

Every swing of this warlord’s thirsty blade is a vision of murder.

You can re-roll hit rolls for attacks made with melee weapons by this general.

If this trait is given to Mighty Lord of Khorne it does not let the Flesh Hound to re-roll hits correct? Only the Lord with his Axe?

  18. Anybody has a list, screenshot, leak anything of the new "secondaries". Kill general, hold the centre, kill unit in opponents deployment zone etc. I watched to games on YouTube where they played one of the missions from the new rulebook but failed to get the full list of these secondaries. I have a game on Saturday where I would like to try them out.

So if anyone has them I would appreciate it.

I'm confident that this is a game vocab that is going to officially change to everything being a "prayer."  They all use the same mechanics, after all.

I'm disappointed that our Invocations can be dispelled AND they still often disappear at the end of the round.

I don't recall if they move in each Hero Phase like an Endless Spell.

I am sure they will and I will play them as such until there is a new battletome or FAQ. I am positive that is the "intent" but I am not sure about RAW currently.

  20. 16 minutes ago, LordRhulak said:

The wording just says that they know the prayer, not that they can chant an additional one. The rules never let them chant an additional prayer. RAW I would say that they can't. RAI, I suppose we wait and hope for an FAQ?

But these are not prayers they are blessings. Or maybe I am just splitting hairs. I hope they clarify this in an FAQ or GHB so I do not have to guess.

  21. @Ganigumo How then that works for the command trait? Cause the wording is really confusing me then.

27.3.2 COMMAND TRAITS Each time you take a command trait enhancement, you can pick 1 command trait and give it to your general. You can never pick more than 1 command trait for your army, and command traits can only be given to a general that is a Hero.

Cause if I can take one for free and then pick extra one for battalion does this means my general will have two command traits? If I get one for free or not and I only get one if I have a battalion why does it says "Each time" implying to me I can do it multiple times, but then says "You can never pick more than 1" implying I can only do it once.

Maybe it is confusing because english is not my first language.

No CT or Artefact or book spell or book prayer. Or mount bonuses.

Ok so Slaughterpriest then does not get one a Blessing of Khorne (Bronzed Flesh for instance), Lord-Arcanum can not take one spell from the lore (Chainlightning for instance)? You need to take battalion for that?
