Wow, never heard of these before, very nice lore! Thank you!

So, can we surely expect a good number of new models today? Indeed an unusual hype for a 'side-game' built up by GW.

I'd expect a single model and a name, and anything more than that is gravy

I think that's true for all armies appart from the ones at the bottom (Gloomspite comes my mind). Some micro-armies can disguise that problem because they don't have enough units, but it's exactly the same: only a few units are used in the competitive scene.

Instead of Fulminators, Longstrikes and Dragons, we had HGB spam, Ironclad+WLV, Eeel spam, Morathi/Gotrek and/or snake spam, Mortek Spam (Petrifex), etc... With SCE having a larger roster than other armies, it's easy to see the problem.

I read that Nu'Nurgle has some flexibile and unique lists that let you use a bigger competitive roster (5++ army-wide helps a lot I suppose) and maybe Lumineth, but I'm not really sure about that.

Lumineth had more comp variety in 2.0, the battalions really helped the temple units over the Vanari. Now in 3.0 it's Teclis and sentinels or you're doing something more casual it feels like.

Good catch on the blocky tree body. Could be the rumored Lady of Vines for Sylvaneth.

A Ylthari 2.0 with the tree body but spite limbs that just resemble an aelf.

Would aesthetically go with the new Warsong who combines some Sylvaneth ethereal spites with a hint of Lumineth icons.

(edit: unless of course it’s more Aeldari. With 40k, Killteam AND Necromunda on the menu they have a lot of knife ear spots to fill for both those shadows)

As for the NightHaunt I wonder if he’ll be connected to the Death book rumor engine? I had a theory they might act as Death’s version of Bluescribes as creatures that wander the infinite Realms to collect any knowledge. In this case to rebuild Nagash’s destroyed books he lost in his invasion of the Realm of Light?

Afraid the model on the right is very definitely an Avatar of Khaine, they showed the pose in a video earlier today, the hand is in the exact same position, looks like it'll have head options.

  4. As someone looking to maybe get into the army starting with the Battlebox, are there decent builds that are semi competitive *without* resorting to a million sentinels? I quite like the range as a whole and boiling it down to wardens and sentinels just feels disappointing to me when you have so many gorgeous models, like the spirits and Bladesworn etc

Biggest changes seen to be the change to unleash hell (6" rather than 9"), heroic recovery needing to by 3" away of a enemy and the amulet of destiny going to a 6+ ward.

Nagash and kragnos got new warscrolls.

I wonder if they will release a separate points change document with the article talking about the faq or If there will be no points changes this time.

There should be points changes considering this FAQ is supposed to be the one changing the Dragon's points?

Same. I'm holding off on additional list building and thus model buying / building / painting until I know what changes are being made. I think we are assuming before end of year but I don't know that GW has actually made that commitment this FAQ pass?

They've only said "December" and not much else.

    Alright
I saw the nerf of the dragons, here’s what I think about it:

    - I like that they adjusted the points before anyone could buy too many of them

    - It is curious that this point value is exactly the value Warhammer Weekly and other channels wished it to be

    - It is strange that nothing else has been changed. There’re other units that are overcosted in that book. In this case we’re not talking about slightly overcosted Models (like Karazai) but ridiculous point values like the Lord Exorcist.

So I come to the conclusion that they did not playtest it at all, instead they listened to feedback.

This is good and bad at the same time:

    - Listening to good feedback is ace!

    - Putting such too low point costs into the Battletome at all is witness to how much they actually test their products: They don’t, or they must ignore feedback at that stage.

Which brings me to the next point. Why does playtesting not to be a thing?

    - Is it too much pressure (too few time for too many rules)?

    - Is it arrogance?

My personal feeling is that they don’t have much time, they are also not interested in touching rules and or warscrolls a second time (most warscrolls are a copy and paste of their old incarnation with little to no creativity). And they are not interested in fixing broken units or factions unless the uproar and therefor the pr gets too bad.

We really need a point fix for Slaanesh, we need Warscroll rewrites for several units like Black Knights and we need more common sense and creativity concerning rules and Warscroll design. As of late AoS rules have felt like a half baked, neglected product they don’t care for.

They REALLY need to improve their communication with their fanbase. They are doing too little, too late and are too rigid in their way.

Do note that these changes are part of a much larger balance update due in december, in the article they state they're letting us know about *these* ones in particular to not cause feelbads about rebalancing dragons *after* they're available. There may be many more changes, we just don't know.

Ugh I bet the new core set is going to cost the same as Harrowdeep, games is good but I do think this is probably going to be precieved added the worst season by the community with already how bad Harrowdeep is

As someone looking at maybe getting into Underworlds, why is Harrowdeep bad?

Well GW have just posted a road map for the rest of the 2021 40k codex releases, although still with keeping mystery around the final 2.

Something like this would no doubt help those people unsure on what's coming down the line.

I noticed that October is completely free of 40k Codexes, which is when the Chaos battletome is supposed to hit. Maybe it'll be a slightly bigger release and not just a book?
