  1. I have ten exalted, ten Twinsouls and 33 Blissbarbs now. Plus the older hedonites and the characters. It feels like an army of characters. It’s definitely the show off army. That said, I contrast. A lot.

and as soon as I confirm that Vindicator torsos work w/Myrmadesh arms, I’m buying ten for 2 units of Myrmadesh.

  2. So, someone earlier said the Blissbarbs are like painting a unit of characters based on their detail. You know? …good. Slaanesh, of all armies, should have the foot soldiers feel superior and on par with characters. Pride is still one of the sins of excess. It’s a sneaky way to fit in one more aspect of excess; make the minis excessively ornate, even the basic ones. Doesn’t make it easier to paint. But makes it justified. Hello contrast!

For real, Khorne is a joke right now and it really feels like noone in GW Developement Team cares for the faction:

    • Khorne wsas just 1.0's generic baddie faction
    • Lore is so badly written that you can break down each single khorne related lorebit to "Angry man kills stuff"
    • 2.0 Battletome was just a loveless wording correction and added just the "necessary" new features like Judgements and Suballigiences.

I imagine this to be also the reason why we won't see a real update for Khorne in the future as simply noone at GW's has a cool idea what to do with this faction. They would have to add some new lore, rewrite a lot of stuff and this is something you don't do when you can't stand the faction anyway. If GW devs perceive Khorne as bland, they will keep making it a bland faction.

So go for it and play some games! I can only recommend it as it helps to see our faction more in a context within the game.

I’d love to. Two babies at home, combined with the pandemic not really being over (yes, I do take Delta seriously)…yeah, games are tough to come by. Even on a simulator. List crafting and posting are my hobby time (aside from building/painting).

As the edition develops, I don't doubt that we'll find viable strategies; I can't help, however, feeling a little adrift right now when our previous coping strategies have been undermined by the new core mechanics.

I have to admit, I don't see the value in 630 points of Blood Warriors. They'll get where you want them to go fast, and then do what? There's the reroll of ones to wound but that's wholly within 12" of an objective, and that's a tight squeeze; and the reroll of ones to hit for paired axes. It sounds a little optimistic to me.

Bloodstoker gives re-roll to wound along with +3 to run and charge. It’s a huge blob that can do 61 attacks (again, spread out), reroll wounds, reroll hits (needs a command, cuz you want the fist), and then when attacked back by numerous units, they do MWs on 6’s and attack when they die. It is 100% a blaze of glory attack that should be hilariously epic, do a lot of damage, then get followed up by multiple charging chimeras, knights, DP, etc. it’s “wave 1”.

That unit can potentially do 122 attacks (assuming death of unit), PLUS MWs on 6s to save before even getting a single bonus attack. Weight of dice. If you’d like 122 attacks swinging your way, you’re a better man than me.

and a Bloodsecrator, Wrathmongers and Aspiring Champion nearby all increase the amount of hits too.

  5. Honestly, I’m of the opinion that on paper, Khorne is in a better place than ever. Points went up heavily for everyone, but Khorne suffered minimally. MSU is encouraged and even FORCED, to an extent. Khorne loves MSU for the tithe. We have two characters and a Bloodthirster that allow for 6”-8” pile in to ignore Unleash Hell/Retreat.

We can throw a 30 man (60 wound) unit of Blood Warriors 24”-30” across the table in a conga line to hit MULTIPLE units at the same time (if opponent isn’t prepared for Goretide) that can re-roll hits and wounds.

I see the doom and gloom, but I don’t share it. I love Khorne’s options in 3.0.

Chaos Warriors make very good Painbringers too - very easy conversion and very cheap (if you use the old kit) :) Just need the swords, shield, and helmets and you get some bulky Painbringers.

Too static for my taste, and the new stormcast have fitting armor for haughty Warriors of slaanesh. I got rid of all of my old static Chaos warriors, and they won’t make a return. Lol

  7. I was considering Namarti originally for Blissbarb conversions, but it was the same $ price, and I’d be short the haemonculous. But it looks good for a Twinsouls! I’m still confident the Dominion Stormcast Vindicators are going to be good fodder for Myrmadesh conversions. I just need to get my hands on one to test out my theory.

if I could get down to my local GW to get a sample model, I could test it out.

My issue is less with the powerlevel and more with just how miserable listbuilding feels in hedonites, Feels hard to make anything feel thematic or cool looking, always run into feeling of "if I just had 200 more points". I would probably be happier if we just had one or two cheaper options, I am still holding hope for a infantry slickblade mortal unit at around  100-115 pts for a battle line.

I feel put off by fully picking up the force because even outside of issues with core army in order to play to factions strength id need to haul around like an extra 2-3000 points of daemons just so I can take advantage of summoning. Amusingly I feel my gloomspite gitz army might actually require me to bring less models to a tournament to play optimally.

    For summoning pool id want

    30-60 daemonettes

    3 normal chariots

    1 exalted chariot

    1 keeper

    3-6 fiends

    10-15 seekers

    enrapturess, epitome

For me armies issues have never been in "are they strong" I play CSM in 40k im used to playing weaker armies, my issues are with the army doesnt play fluffy, and outside of that to have it play optimally and lean into its toolbox requires a silly amount of models to bring. I can cut the summoning pool out but will feel bad when I get to those fights where I could take advantage of the mechanic but dont have it due to physical tansport issues.

We actually have one infantry Slickblade model. She’s in the Dread Pagent!

  9. I’m gonna be honest, I hate “Netlists”. When one person finds something, posts it, and everyone jumps on it…yuck. Then everyone builds against that list (if they can; first HoS book…forget it, there was no building against it, just prayer).

if you bring something unique, expect people to not be prepped for it. That’s a serious advantage. Prepping for a tournament means prepping against the popular netlists. Be a decent player and bring something unique (that you’ve found works for you)…I think you’ll place higher than by running a net list.

  10. Fair. I still want to stick them all in one unit, ambush them in the backend, yell “Leroy jenkins” at my opponent and just shoot up a bunch of stuff for depravity as a suicide bomb, while Syn shoots from the back, Dex and Siggy do their thing, and Hellstriders rush around for objectives. Great, awful, or nuts. Some combination of all.

I don't know if anyone else has built one of the Twins yet, but their fingers are the most insanely fiddly things I've ever had to glue. They're tiny. Does anyone have any recommendations for handling them? I cannot get them into position properly to save my life.

Pray. Yeah, I built both twins. It was tough. Those fingers were ridiculously fiddly. I’d say use a good pair of tweezers and try to assemble fingers onto arms while they’re still off the body.

Nobody told me that “excess” when it came to models meant excessively frustrating small parts!
