  1. I am kind of disappointed that the Nurgle side is just their start collecting box with a hero change, but I guess I'd be more disappointed if I already bought the SC box(and I almost did) and wanted to expand it.
  2. I'm glad I was wrong about the likely hood of a new starter set. Depending on the price, I might pick this up to start Nurgle and fill my Stormcast/Order with some new models. Looks like the Nurgle side is basically its start collecting with a new hero and slug dude looks like a neat model.
  3. I'm getting pretty excited about the new GHB. For a long time I've shied away from the armies and units that seemed in limbo between the purely compendium armies like Tombkings and newly released Armies like Stormcast even newly updated armies like Sylvaneth or Ironjaws(thought some of the updated armies did fall behind). Now I'm not terribly worried about building a Disspossed army and that makes me really happy as had almost pull the trigger on a Dwarf Army at the end of 8th edition, but held off with rumors of "9th edition" and further held off when it looked like the "leftover" armies might be forgotten. Now I'm not as worried about them getting EOL'd in the near future and I really want a regluar Dwarf army. Don't get me wrong, I like my Kharadron Overlords and steampunk and Dwarfs are always a fun combo, but it'll be nice to get a regular Dwarf army together. I might even cross them over as allies from time to time as allies(I'll probably get the SC! Fyreslayers box as my only FS and run them ally only). And speaking of allies, it's basically all I've wanted since I first the "battleline if" in the GHB. Of the death stuff, I really like the Nighthaunt stuff, the Spirithosts, Hexwraiths, Cairnwraiths, and Tomb Bashshees are some of my favorite models in the game(sorry Black Coach, I hate your model and will never buy you), but it was a very thin army to build out to a full 1000 points, much less 2000 and I'd end up having to plan to bring zombies or skeletons for my battlelines and I'd basically end up with generic death with a few Nighthaunt allies rather than the other way around. So now I'll definitely be building my Nighthaught warband(I didn't have any reason to pull the trigger on buying any until Skirmish came along) into a full army. I'm hoping that one of the Mortis Engine keywords are on the Nighhaunt allies list, because right now it's a worst buy Start Collecting box(but the new Nighthaught mini box is pretty sweet). The initial release of AOS was Chaos controlling most of the realms and everything was just a mess. The first GHB was Sigmar's big push into the realms to push Chaos back and start making things right. And now with this new book it feels like civilizations are getting established again and starting to thrive and now we're getting see what they're like.
  4. I was hoping the Magmadroth price lowering for the SCFS box was maybe sign that GW was going to go back and do more price correction, though I guess it was an even worse issue so it'll be all we see.
  5. With the variety in these boxes, I'm actually really surprised there's not a Wanders set in there too. Maybe it's a sign that GW [has bigger things coming/has completely forgotten about] elves.
  6. Oh look, they put my Nighthaunt Skirmish warband in its own box. I was almost very excite when I saw Grots and thought there was going to be a Start Collecting Moonclan box.
  7. I'm catching up on all the GHB2017 reveals, and I'm excited for the possibilities. I put together a Nighthaunt warband for skirmish and under the current rules, that the furtherest I'd taken it because once I add another death unit, my current units lose battleline and I have to rework the army until it goes from Nighthaunt with generic death allies to a generic death army with some nighthaunt units. It looks like the new allies will actually allow me to finally do my Nighthaunt armies with a few generic death allies to mix things up just a little instead of just Sprit Hosts and Hex Wraiths. While I'll wait until the book is actually in my hands, GW probably just sold some more models as I will now definitely be building out at least 1000 points of Nighthaunt+. Hopefully the Mortis Engine is part of the Nighthaunt allies the Start Collecting Malignants would be my first purchase. Aside from death though, I'm really curious to see where Bray Herds are going with allegiance abilities and such. On a very basic level I really like them, but have been apprehensive to pick them up as an army because they felt so much like WHFB leftovers. I've got my order army in Kharadron Overlords(and hoping to expand that to Grand Alliance Dwarfs now that the Start Collecting Fyreslayers is out), plans to build now build Nighthaunt army with allies, and have been wanting a Chaos army. Until now I've been stuck on Khorne or waiting to see what dropped with Nurgle and possibly combining it with Skaven Pestilins. But if Bray Herds look like they may be in this for the long haul, via new allegiance abilities and maybe round base reboxing, I'd probably go that route.
  8. Nice to see the official confirmation of of the Start Collecting boxes. I know there's not synergy between the various Dwarf factions, but I'm thinking of getting the Fyreslayer box and just mash them up with my overlords and dispossessed for an Order army that just happens to be all Dwarf. I'm not a tournament or otherwise competive player, so I guess I do have the luxury of mixed armies. I'm also looking at the Beastclaw Raiders box and thinking of a mixed destruction with some orcs and goblins and trolls(I've got some rockgut troggoths in the mail just because I like the models and don't really have any solid plans on a destruction army). The problem is that good generic battle lines seem to be hard to come by in destruction. Kind of no sense in buying the Ironjawz models I like.
  9. Assuming that's real, the "2017" naming makes me think that this will be a point tweak and FAQ integration update rather than a 2nd edition of AoS. Which is what I've though before, but this shores up my thoughts on the matter.
  10. Yep, saw that the other day. Gives my hope that the old Dwarfs will be sticking around a bit longer. Now that my first phase of Kharadron Overlords are done, I finished up painting a box of Thunderers I bought a few years ago, but never got around to doing. Now I think I'll add some more regular Dwarfs.
  11. If/when new Nurgle stuff comes out, I wonder if they'll combine the Daemons of Nurgle with the Rotbringers into a new book similar to Blades of Khorne.
  12. I'm also betting on Nurgle and maybe some Aelves.
  13. From a purchasing stand point, I certainly feel better about repacks. Of all the old stuff, I'm too concerned that they just had a ton of stock of some of these and when it's out they start dropping them and thus the faction(in the case of less defined factions like Dispossed).
  14. For AoS /40k crossover models like daemons, make sure you're browsing and click the link from the AoS side, not 40k or the link to the PDF won't show up.
  15. I have Storm of Sigmar and I don't mind the snap fit models so much, but the odd numbers(for matched play) certainly don't encourage me to want to go out and buy more models to expand to a full army. I probably will be getting the Iron Jaws of this though and I can easily see myself expanding it with a start collecting box.
  16. I'm pretty excited about the Skirmish game. I've been trying to decide what I'm going to get next after I finish painting up my initial wave of Kharadron Overlords and now it looks like the answer to what comes after Ago of Sigmar is more Age of Sigmar.
  17. I would love to be able to play more casual games, but outside of my playing with my son, it's pretty much a non-starter for me. AoS was practically DOA around here without points(I was still interested in it, but looked like I'd have few opponents so I didn't get into it then) and has since picked up a big way since the GHB release. That being said, small matched skirmish games are what currently hit the sweet spot for me in tabletop games, so AoS moving into that spot has me excited.
  18. I have high hopes for this. I'm guessing/hoping there will be a two player starter set and then a separate rule book much like Kill Team and Shadow War Armageddon. Realistically I'll have only ever have one or two full factions for an army game like AoS 40k, and a skirmish size game where I can get some bite sized tastes of some Orcs or Khorne with out buying a whole army would be great.
  19. I kind of got the feeling that that some of the more generic "faction" names like Wanderers, Dispossessed, and Free Peoples where just holding places for legacy models. It still might be the case for some(I'm pretty sure Kharadron and Fyreslayers are the future of Dwarfs in AoS), but there might be some home for Wanderers.
  20. I can finally stop talking myself out of buying a Start Collecting Malignants box(luckily my FLGS is aways out of that one, so having to ask to get it orderd was enough extra work to stop me). I was really starting to think the steampunk Dwarf rumors would never pan out. Now I guess I'll save up my lunch money and finally get into AoS in the next month or two.
  21. I'm still waiting for something related to non-Fyreslayer AoS Dwarfs and a crossover with new, however unlikely, Sqauts or some other space Dwarfs would make me ridiculously happy. Heck, one of the minor reason I picked Tau as my 40k army I'm starting is the outside chance that Demiurg will eventually emerge as new space Dwarves within the greater Tau army.
