anyways, anyone else want to see some out there magic? Every time I think of earth based magic I think of stuff like the reality bending of Doctor strange or Inception. Something strange and able to shape reality as the elves fight, even if it is in a limited area. The deepkin already have magic like the aethersea, so it isn't too far of a possibility to see them bend reality to a certain extent. Especially Teclis. I just don't want to see the standard "I shoot rocks" kinda thing.

I’m very interested in the magic the Lumineth get. I’m not sure if I like 100% what they are doing there. Sounds more Earthbender and shamanistic in a way so far to me. Not like what you’d expect from Hysh and the old Tower of Hoeth HE.

But we still have not much information and how Hysh, those spirits and the symbols all tie in together. Definitely interesting. Might end up to be really cool stuff.

The spells so far seem more like of the “I shoot rocks variety” than anything more sophisticated. I still hope all that more learned, mysterious, light flavored stuff will be under the zenith faction though.

For me it's the picture of the realm stone in malign sorcery, it has two slim humanoids with wings supporting it. It also talks of how only the aloof elves of hysh made sense of the realm stone. Perhaps I'm overly looking into things, perhaps not, I'd be far less inclined to believe in the winged elves, if there wouldn't be that picture.

The fluff in the malign sorcery relate to what we already have heard - that the Lumineth know how to harvest and use aetherstone, and that the stone is usually found in rune, or symbol like patterns, which we will here more about in the next part of the reveal.

You could be right. They don’t look anything like the Lumineth we have seen so far (with skull masks, round ears etc.), but they are slim humanoids with wings, so who knows.

After the lowdown we received, for me personally it’s hard to imagine that Tyrion is not part of the Lumineth. They write that Tyrion and Teclis both drive the actions of the Lumineth on the battlefield, so I think he will be the second center piece model. Maybe on a dragon, as that is the only central part of the former HE which we have not seen anything off yet.

I think GW might keep the angels esthetic restricted to the Stormcast Eternals.

If anyone is interested we've put together a detailed post on the site discussing what we would love to see in the new Battletome! https://spruesandbrews.com/2020/01/30/lumineth-realm-lords-what-wed-like-to-see-in-the-new-battletome/

Just read your article, very nice. About Tyrion, he might even have saved Malhandir, as they had a special bond. So might be that Malhandir comes back together with him. I guess if they do that - probably not in its horse form, but as something else.

I honestly think that the Zenith of the Luminith would be all light based stuff, considering where the sun is in our universe. I could be wrong, but it makes the most sense why wind and zenith would be separated. I am eager to see more, though!

Yup, I agree. But that's why it's really fun and interesting at the moment, as long as we don't know for sure, everyone has their 100% perfect Lumineth in mind.

I think it would be weird if they have no Light magic, but then if someone just would have told me Teclis has a sphinx now, I'm not sure if I had liked that - and I really love the model  :)

    Azyr is "Heavens"

Yes, I know, and I think that's why they call it sky or zenith and not heavens, because in the end Teclis spells & abilities will be Light/Hysh affiliated and not Azyr. But of course I might be wrong. Those terms all being kind of similar. And as they have harked back quite a lot to the old HE it's possible that they also give back Teclis his old "Heavens" sword.

  5. Not on expert on this, but as one of the 4 sub-factions of Lumineth will be "river" themed, you probably could do something with the Eidolon and Teclis if you have such a themed Lumineth army. No need to remove all of the "sea" theme, just adjust it a bit.

    Greetings coneheads.

If anyone's interested in Teclis' previous incarnations, I've just started a new blog series examining his every chronological appearance from 1992 to present. The first two parts is a little evident, but I'm currently working on posts covering his novel appearances and roles in the Storm of Chaos and End Times. Feedback as always appreciated. :)

Very nice, well done. Peak nostalgia for me. Looking forward to the rest.

About the Sword of Teclis - it doesn't look like it has any connection to Azyr/Lightning on the art, but of course that doesn't have to mean anything.

My guess is that Teclis will have spells and abilities connected to the 4 geomantic Hysh elements they named in the article: mountain, wind, river, and zenith. Zenith could have to do something with Azyr/Lightning, but then it would be a bit strange if the Hysh Lumineth have no own, distinctive Light Magic (separate from the realm one), so I guess Zenith will be that, but who knows.

This time of speculation is always the most fun part for a new army.

The place where slaanesh is kept is already a miniature realm, almost like the eight points is. If any of the aelves are smart it’s peobably the single most fortified position they have! The only thing they could worry about is if slaanesh broke free himself, and that would never happen!

i almost wonder if these spirits of Hysh would have some way of protecting the aelves souls, maybe making a tower nexus that the spirits guide back to hyish and protect?

Somewhere in the lore it says that Teclis managed to lessen the effects of the Necroquake with Aetherquarz. And Light magic always had that kind of quality to it. So that's possible.

In other news, it appears as though we might owe Katakros a small debt.  Apparantly in the Wrath of the Everchosen, Archaon has found Slaanesh and is trying to free him/her.  Katakros' invasion of Eightpoints interrupts Archaon, forcing him to return and defend his home turf.  This is probably the thing that galvanizes Teclis to lead the Lumineth out into battle.

Oh nice find, that sounds likely, and if not, it something you could play out in a own campaign anyway.

  9. I've played both Cubicle's The One Ring and the WFRP games, and both are really good. The art is great, and both time they hit the atmosphere of the setting.

The One Ring has What sounds like it had pretty similar mechanics (body etc.) and 6 sided dices. I might be totally wrong there of course.

Really excited to see them going into Age of Sigmar. Especially since they've confirmed over on the Discord that they'll make Lumineth also playable (not at the start though).

  10. How funny. I'm just coming back to the game after a long hiatus when my favorite High Elves went down with the whole Old World.

I saw the pointy aelves video a few weeks back and have since been reading up on the lore and everything else AOS. I'm definitely coming back to the game with the release of the Lumineth.

And now to the funny part: "I'm now considerably older, married and living in Korea". In my case in Seoul.  I was thinking only about playing a few times per year when I'm back home with my old friends (who mostly made the jump to AOS when it started). But if you are around Seoul - we could see  if we get something going.

My wife is as enthusiastic about gaming with little toys as yours is : ).

  11. As an old High Elf fan, I'm really happy with what they have done so far with the Lumineth. This will be my entry into AoS. I think they really did a good job with connecting the Lumineth to the High Elves and Eldar, but giving everything a new twist. You can see that they tried to make us "pointy elf" lovers happy as they promised, but also make them enough Sigamarized to be interesting in this setting.

The idea of using aetherquarz to explain how the Lumineth can still be kind of an elite force in a setting where you have Stormcast Eternals, Star-Demons and whatnot is also nifty.

I'm looking really forward to see what monster they'll get. I'm one of those who thinks the sphinx is great, so something like that would be great. On the other hand dragons are always nice. Maybe somewhat done the road they'll put in a half-crazed emotionally-drunk fire aligned sub-faction with dragons etc. Unlikely, but who knows.

Hopefully they'll show at least another unit with the speermen focused information in two weeks.
