Hammerers vs Executioners, which is a better investment, assuming they both have the support they need to be their best?  Both get the MW on 6s to hit don't they?  Executioners can get Tenebrael Shards going with them.  Guess that potential rend -4 though on the Hammerers is basically all MW on most armor saves...but they lack speed and the strike-first possibility of Executioners.

    Who runs both?!?

i have tried both and executioners are best.

the damage per point is more or less the same(hammerers are a bit better).

    but:

executioner have 50% more move(4 vs 6), have mortals that hammerers not,can attack first allways when charge that hammerers not,can have a ignore save buffs  that hammerers not,in general their support piece(sorcerer) is great and is a must have even if we dont bring elfs but the dwarf heroes are useless and we only bring them if we want use the dwarfs orders(that again dwarfs orders are useless and the worst of entire book).

in short, hammerers are great but executioners are even better because they have better orders and buffs available

  2. hnn i dont know what u mean with comas and apostrofes, but is true i dont know because i use ' and not ,

i said 8,8 ignoring the thorpedo why usually everyone ignore captain when calculate the damage of a unit because is easier, per example if we ignore captain we can say 10 models make 8,8. then 20 models double and etc but if we count captain then the damage of the captain reduce with more models(or the % of increase in damage of the captain to the unit), so usually everyone ignore captains when calculate damage of units.

oh is true blisbarbs have only save6 but they have easily ward5 so it is 11 wounds 6+ 5++ that is so much better than 10 w save4.

and yes i have said maaaany times that hammerers are great, the best unit of the book and i allways play 40 in every game(two units of 20) and they allways are my mvp. but i dont know because nobody use them.

by the way i never said citys are in bad spot, they are balanced in external balance, but monsters, copters, irondrakes and ironbreakers need buffs

im open to other options to send feedback to gw.

im not joking,i usually send feedback to the faq aos team because it is where they tell us to send it in their facebook when someone send one feedback.

but if we have any better channel i would be happy to know

I’m pretty sure the AoS rules team aren’t going to take your feedback on that, despite your passion.

Cities have been out in full for about 11 weeks, which included Christmas and stuff, and are an army that isn’t the fastest to paint. I’m not surprised that they aren’t winning a bunch of tournaments, though I have seen a number of 4-1s. I’d honestly be a bit worried if they had won a bunch. I do agree that I have they were relatively conservatively pointed, and feel they could use a helping hand, but I think you have an inaccurate view of how much help they need.

On the iron drakes, I’ve seen you post the 8’8 rend 1 damage thing on multiple forums and still have no idea what you mean by that. It also ignores that the grudgehammer is rend 2.

The iron drakes damage output is already competitive with most stuff in the game. I agree that the no movement thing is a major downside, but you let the march order benefit them then they end up being move 7, high damage shooting with a pretty good armour save. I really like iron drakes, but I think you might need to increase points if you gave them that. Personally it might be a bit too specific, but allowing Iron  Drakes to choose between counting as stationary for the order OR getting 3” movement might be enough? They’d still be slow, but able to move somewhat.

You already can’t try to use multiple whisperblades on the same command, that’s not a rule change it’s just the rule.

I think in terms of rules changes I wouldn’t mind a change to Warforger spell, making it either target or maybe even only effect melee. If you made the spell melee only I think it would open up a potential big points drop to fusiliers.

Otherwise I think general minor points drops would be nice, potentially bigger ones to our monsters.

A big overall concern is shooting getting too good, we don’t want leaf blower lists. It’s not fun, it’s not good for balance and it gets you nerfed hard.

the 8'8 number is the damage median that irondrakes make

its a unit with 10 models doing 20 shoots at 3 to hit and 3 to wound,if you calculate the 66% of 20 and then the 66% again, then you get that irondrakes damage is 8'8

and is easy to see  he irondrakes are bad rigth now if we see entire data with treathrange that is the range of the weapon+move of the model,so how far really he can shoot.

only to compare i gonna add the two best shooting units of the game(reavers and blisbarbs)

reavers 160(or 150i dont remember) for 8'8 damage rend 1 with at 24" or 10 damage at 9"

blisbarbs archers 170 for 8'8 rend 1 damage  at 30

    irondrakes 160 for 4'4 rend 1 damage at 19" or  8'8  rend 1 at 15"

so i think is easy to see that these 3 units cost the same(10 points more or less) but irondrakes have same damage with HALF treathrange or HALF damage with betwen 5 and 11" less range.

    how is that balanced?

if they give us the order to can move and ignore this useless penalty then irondrakes MUST spend one order of one hero to have same damage, similar treathrange and similar cost that these 2 units.

even with this change irodrakes would be worse than these two units......

also is true that irondrakes have 1 better save than these two units, but in case of blisbarb archers is the same tankiness, because more or less +1 save if 16% less damage and blisbarbs have 11 wounds that is a 10% more than dwarfs,so both units have same tankiness per point.

also note as irondrakes have ABSOLUTELY 0 buffs in this new book to their damage or rend while per example blisbarbs have multiples buffs availables.

in short irondrakes are useless and umplayables rigth now,and even with this change they would be worse than other books similar units, but could be playables

I would imagine that they’re comfortable using this older wyvern for promo shots one way or another.

Pretty sure that they’ve shown the old Bret battle standard bearer, which has also been replaced (in that there’s the new resin one).

nop, they haven showed the old models, they just didnt show any of the renewed models neither their old version before the release.

in fact we know that dwarfs are getting one new shielbearer.........you see any pic with the old metal alric(shieldbearer models)??? nop,he is magicaly missing in every single pic.

same happen in other armys as wood elfs where the forest dragon is missing in every single pic and is pretty obvious that the wood elfs gonna get a new forest dragon as their centerpiece in the new box.

I just read on another forum that all the CoS dwarfs are out of stock. Which ofcourse is not so rare anymore with GW products. But I wonder if the rumours that a dwarfs release for TOW will be sooner than later that they will be repackaged? It will be a bit ackward to see the same unit in different boxes? Pure logistics wise it would also be a strange decision.

dwarfs have been for a long time only the clasical white box,so they arent getting new boxes

I would wait a little bit, with an expected balance slate so soon. The command corps are probably too cheap with what they do. I think ideally points overall come down for CoS, but Corps feel a bit too good in comparison to some other options.

Speaking of the balance data slate, what are people hoping for? It feels like we could do with something, but it might not need too big a change for it to become problematic. I kind of wanted Iron Drakes to get the benefit from march and count as remain stationary, but that might make them too efficient too easily.

yes,i have sent multiples email to aos rules team to balance irondrakes because rigth now they are useless.

i sent them many options and one is as you said add them to the order of move and dont count as moved.

oh and they wont be too efficient because they even with that buff they are 160 points for 8'8 rend1 damage at 16" when reavers for same 160 points do same damage but at 24" and slanes archers also same damage and point but at 30"

we have had city for some months allready and we havent won any tournament so far,so we need buffs and not nerfs.

but im sure that as allways fusilers, zelestra and comand corps gonna be nerfed because many persons are crying about that build even if it havent won any tournament.

pretty sure that they gonna faq comand corps to not can use the revive d3 models on same unit and cant use the cancel cp of multiple comand corps on same cp.

also more increases to fusilers points and zenestra.

while ignoring how bad are dwarfs and monsters

  8. as means quite clearly that we cant use them in tournaments? i see in the post of today bery clearly that, but not in the old post.

i see that they omited this information CLEARLY to only gain money selling these armys and then today 10 hours before launch at the last moment is when announce this that had to be said 4 years ago

edit:yes im salty because i see clearly that gw only omited this information to get extra money and just released this info in last second and not 4 years ago.

some of you read betwen lanes that they said it allready but the truth is that they never said nothing untill today.

last post because i have said my point allready.

Doko, it reads as if you're arguing in bad faith. I don't know if that's your intention, but maybe step back a bit/reword things? It comes across as raging and less of a civil discussion.

So Dark Elves aren't supported. Proxy them as High Elves then, if the pdf rules aren't to your taste. Malekith is, after all, the True Phoenix King. If you went out and bought stuff without having anything solid to go on, that's on you.

We have known from the horse's mouth since May 2023 what factions are going to be supported. That's around 7-8 months. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/05/23/old-world-development-diary-the-main-factions-revealed/

They have also, at nauseam and ad infinitum repeated about scale, base size, legality of play regarding bases, and so on. Since 2021. Even in April of 2023, they stated that movement trays would be a thing. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/04/14/old-world-development-diary-on-bases-and-the-barons-of-bretonnia/

so they said this in your link:

These legacy faction army lists will be made available for free as pdfs as a service to fans who have these classic armies on their shelf, so they can still bring them to battle for old times sake

where here they said that we wont can play with them?because i read we can play them

    but today article said:

though please note that they won’t be considered legal for tournaments, and won’t receive ongoing support.

i havent have bad faith but i think im blind or these two phrases meaning the oposite, first say you can play and second say you cant

It's that simple. The 9 core announced factions for ToW are there because they don't step on AoS faction feet. The Legacy factions are there because they do

beastmen(full range in aos is playable im tow),warriors of caos(almost entire range is playable in tow the same that vampires) and dwarfs(entire aos disposesed is playable im tow) dissagree with you and wood elfs are in same situation than dark elfs(silvaneths+kurnothis and malerion)

given how much GW has stressed that the non-supported factions weren't going to be supported

    proof of that before today?

also i disagree,i spent 300€ in some wytch elfs, cauldron of blood etc to add to my cities of sigmar dark elfs and play to tow because gw said that dark elfs were getting pdf rules to can play.

of they had said THIS POST OF TODAY THAT DARK ELFS WERE GETTING UMPLAYABLES, then i wouldnt have bougth the wyches and i would have been happy with my dark elfs in cities.

some of people here continue saying that gw said allready this when is FALSE.

show proof of this because its wrong,gw only said that they cant support the full armys at launch and so half armys were getting pdf...........and nothing more.

as this means that these armys are being deleted as they have said today?

    its easy:

-they said they cant support these armys at launch=with time they gonna support them

-they could have said we cant support these armys as they did today= these armys are umplayables and gonna be deleted.

    see? this is diferent

I think the problem with TOW is that many people didn't follow the project until very recently and most of the things are complaining about were mentioned in those early days warcom posts. Like how a YouTuber was complaining about metal models and how they moved from resing to metal recently when ages ago warcom gave us an article where they mentioned we would have metal minis as well. Or the factions topic. It is not something recent.

thats wrong,i have been following tow since the first day and they NEVER said that the pdf armys were going to be ignored and let die.

they said that at the launch they cant support every army and so half gonna only get pdf rules, that meaning that with time they gonna come back to those pdf armys, they could have said that they wont support these half armys and not said that they cant support them at the launch that meaning diferent

show me where gw have said in those 4 yeara since tow started that the pdf armys were to be umplayables?

I am surprised. Wasn't everyone seeing this already? From the moment that they announced the core factions (and it was a long time ago) it was clear to me that we couldn't expect much from them.

Also, they are not playable in tournaments, but with the free PDFs nothing stops us from playing them.

wrong, they clearly said that they coulnt release every faction at the launch and so half armys was getting pdf.

that means that every army gonna get the same support with time and not that the half armys gonna be deleted.

also how we gonna play with the pdf? if it is as aos legacy armys........no points,no spells,no army skills etc. just a pdf with the stats of units and nothing more

    • Confused 1
  15. yes i cant believe how dirty have been this move by gw.

they have had 5 years to let us know that the half of the armys gonna be umplayables, but no........they waited untill the last moment(the day before of launch) to say us this.

so they can sell those unsuported armys for 5 years to people like me that bougth dark elfs to play them in tow and now is wasted money because we cant use them.

was so hard tell us this 5 or 1 year ago and not wait untill the last second to get max money?

  17. its a shame the price finnally so high. i was especting 150/170 for bretonian box(doing a calcule of the old price with the increase of 5€ that fantasy boxes got in aos and then around 40% disscount due to be a starter box)

When we tougth was 180€ yesterday i got a bit sad but i was fine and i was going to buy these boxes of empire, dwarfs, wood elfs and high elfs.

if we compare the price of the white dwarf there(11€) with the actual spanish price(9€) we can see around a 25% increase in the table,so if we calculate with 25% we  get that bretonian box gonna be around 180€ in europe

I'm wondering how other people are planning to balance AoS and ToW? I got back into Warhammer a few years ago. In my childhood I played WFB and 40k. On returning to the hobby, obviously WFB had been blown up and so I got into AoS and really enjoy it. It's been interesting seeing how the setting has developed over that time.

I don't plan to stop collecting or playing AoS but I just can't ignore the pull of the old world either. My large dwarf army can finally return and I always craved a bretonnian army so that's my launch box sorted. I'm finding though I'll have a lot of crossovers with my collections... Cities of sigmar humans and bretonnians. Cities of sigmar duardin and dwarfs. Gloomspite and orcs and goblins. I guess my AoS choices were trying to recreate what I had in WFB!

I'll likely end up trying to use some models in both formats but it kind of feels a bit strange to be doubling up and I'm not sure how I'll end up splitting my hobby time. Has anyone else thought about this? Or just accept I'll have twice as many armies now 😂

im with you,as you i collected aos armys with fantasy units(dwarfs, dark elfs, high elfs, wanderer, humans, vampire).

i intend use my disposesed as dwarfs(but i gonna need buy this starter box to get warriors and quarrelers),also i gonna buy the empire starter to fill my humans of city,i bougth 3k of dok this last black friday because i got two battleforces to get wyches and cauldron for old world.....and only getting morathi i got a dok army also haha.

i gonna use my minis im both aos and old world, just with movement trays nobody gonna complaim about the round bases

    Dwarfs

    • Plastic - Slayers. They're the only infantry unit which didn't receive a plastic kit (except Rangers) and presumably the CAD exists due to the Dragon Slayer releasing with 8th. They have however shown a photo with the old metals, repainted at that, so maybe this is just a fool's hope (or they're deliberately being sheepish about revealing them yet).

    • Plastic - Anvil of Doom. Thorek Ironbrow's model was ancient and it's never had a 'generic' version in model form. The Dwarfs have never done big centrepieces and I think this would serve as an appropriate middle ground.

    • Resin - Dwarf Lord with Shieldbearers. I could possibly see this being plastic instead of the Anvil of Doom, but ultimately, it is just two dudes holding aloft a third one. The other metal/Finecrap Lords were otherwise pretty modern sculpts and have aged fairly well, plus we've already seen several of them used for TOW photographs. The Shieldbearer is a very iconic Warhammer Dwarf thing, so I'm 100% convinced we'll see a new one in some form.

    • Resin - Ranger/Hero. The Engineers and Runesmiths may be getting their old sculpts reused and we know from the Grand Army of Bretonnia that they've come up with new Lords and Heroes. A Ranger Hero (or even Lord) seems like an obvious new inclusion that would justify a model to boot.

    • Resin - Named female Queen. Call it a hunch.

    i would vote for:

centerpiece: runelord/warden king on throne of power and we can build on foot the other version not mounted

    resin heroes:

      -king with shieldbearers

     -standard

    plastic kit: the rangers

i dont think we get slayers due to fyreslayers(because many persons would use these slayers as fyreslayers in aos and i guess these of fantasy gonna be WAY  lower in price). i have 4k of fyreslayers so i dont mind as i gonna use them as slayers here

i love that guy and their channel,by the way if the price is only around 150/180.......with the usual 20% disscount in online stores gonna be around 120/140. that gonna be VERY dangerous,i gonna buy many of those armys that i was with doubts as wood elfs or empire

Even with much fewer armies, WFB could not even give an army book to all of them in a 5 year edition. AoS is supporting 24 (or more depending on how you count them) with at the very least one new model and a brand new book each 3 year edition, with more and more armies getting range expansions/updates regularly

my fyreslayers getting only one new unit in 8 years is worse than many fantasy armys as support of new units.

i really dont mind or want new books,i preffer get new units and not only useless foot heroes and books
