Outside of the discount, local stores always just have a nicer atmosphere imo, official GW store staff feel very overbearing at times. For some reason the local GW store for me stopped hosting gaming and painting sessions for non beginners which sucks. Also as a mtg player it's nice to have one store/community to deal with for everything, I imagine it's the same for people who play other games too.
Ye, stopping non-beginner games seems to be company policy now : (
Even in my old local where I really got on with the manager, it's just sorta like what's the point anymore; I could justify the extra costs for getting free tables etc, but now I'll just take the 20% off ta

Also IG because Orcs and Gobs technically have a bunch of new plastics that can be ported over from AOS
Stone trolls, squig herds, squig hoppers, (extortionately priced) wolf riders, fanatics...
It's a bit boring but as they go they're one of the better looking factions rn- 2

AOS rules for Daggok et all have dropped; sadly seem kinda mid. If they just generated cps that'd be good, but I can't think that they're valuable enough to be worth caring about the benefits of command abilities on them
also kinda surprised that Daggok isn't a hero tbhEDIT: Just realised they're only 70 pts, so that could make them worthwhile
EDIT 2: Wait heck that debuff is good, I just got distracted by the not-cp ability

I reckon chaos dwarves could do it 👀
But yeah it's almost definitely skaven

I think some things translate better than others. Look at the thousand sons codex, for example
All the greebling and little flame designs on the armour trim looks cool in the art, but IMO, it would look horrible being translated to miniature form. You can see this with a lot of other chaos art inn particular, but general IMO some things, particularly very sharp, deep, details don't translate well into miniature form. One good example is hair and fur, where often a simplified design can look more visually pleasing than a very realistic one. Another example is GW vs FW nurgle- OTOH I prefer the GW offerings just because FW designs tend to have too much 'sharp' detailing. Personally, I never worried too much about models being too dynamic, but I find being too 'noisy' is a big turn off

I did some enhancery, the factions seem to be r-l:
Harkon (Walach?)
Pontenne*
Reachwald
Esselhafn
Durlselmound(?)
Jaardorf
Uvetovsk
Ortegeta
Monteaux
Gastonne*
Gordorno*
Aquilena
Donalba
+ Athel Loren ofc
Marked with * seem to display Bretonnian imagery/symbolism

New article up on warcom about the border princes. Some interesting tidbits, but for a tl:dr, started off as the 'your dudes' faction, the environment is constantly changing as new lords and ladies are made and deposed. The map just represents some such factions at a moment in time. Seems cool!

Maybe it's just me, but it kind of seems like Middle Earth has run it's course to a degree. They have definitely started to pull out some really obscure characters lately. I would not be surprised if GW want another fantasy core game with more room for new releases and view The Old World as a good option, since it's their own IP, has crossover potential with AoS and targets a different player base at the same time. That would certainly be an explanation of how they plan to serve The Old World with the huge amount of kits that game would require to meet the expectations of former Fantasy players.
That makes sense, but IMO this would be a really weird time to drop it(Middle-Earth), with the new series coming out you'd think that would lead to a massive popularity spike

I think unbind range should be reduced to 18".
We now have a much smaller board to play with, it's time to let people actually play and enjoy the magic side of their armies.
This 100% - another way that could help the current problem is by making it so that after a single model cast or unbinds multiple times, say more than 2 or 3 would be good IMO, it becomes harder with each successive cast or unbind. It also might not be to bad an idea to re-add dispel/destroy scrolls in again also to help give an easy dispel regardless of power level

New monster article includes an alt build for the creepy troll. Less fiddly polearms will make this the more transportable build option.

Oh that looks so much nicer with a less crazy colour skin imo- orange was really offputting to me but this just set my mind at rest :D

I'm thinking about switching all the black cloth on the Kruleboyz to off-Whites and sand- or cream colored. Then go for sand dune bases. I think going for desert instead of swamps would be a great fit for the bandit- or raider theme they"ve got going on.
Cool idea! I'm thinking about going Hyshian- pale green skin, yellow shields with glowing electric blue eyes and maybe slightly blue tinted robes. Oh, and lots of retro checkers ofc

I'd assume the 'non special character' version will be something like 'Killaboss on Sludgeraker' or something?
Probably "Snatcher-boss"

One of the annihilators has a bear face? That's new!

It was a Lord-Commander @mystycalchemy!
Also, more lords seem to be getting knight variants- relictor, arcanum- Knight-Celestant? GW knows too well not to capitalize on stormcast lieutenants!

What do we have above an Imperatant then? Named character? Lord-Commander? The Imperatant is about equivalent to a lord-celestant right?

Battle tactics still feel weird to me too
like, the benefit for outflanking the enemy should be that you've outflanked them, not that you get points for it (ofc the current ruleset arguably doesn't best suit that versus a more trad rnf game)
I feel like it requires you to rethink victory points as being a sort of 'battle resolution' score where if you gain enough points by the end of the game, your opponent is outmaneuvered or routed, as opposed to more tangible material objectives, like realmstone deposits or communications towers
