Saw these photos on Facebook the other day, he's a lot smaller than the plastic giant but not too far off the older giant model which is returning to the range soon (likely on the 50mm base option for giants). Could put him on a tactical rock if you want to match the height of the older giant more closely but it's not a big difference IMO...

This is great, thanks. Not having seen the Crusher in real life it was hard to judge his size, though I had suspected he might to short for the giant as I do remember the plastic one being rather lanky and tall. Great to know that he is almost as tall as the old metal one, so if that one dose make a comeback then maybe with a little tactical terrainage I could include a Crusher just for the look.

Failing that the suggestion as unit filler might be something to think about.

    They make great minotaur.

They do, I just don’t yet know how raking allies woks and if Warriors can take Beastman units, so was looking for units in the WoC list that they could fit as from a rules standpoint.

  3. As my Bretonnian box and the books have not arrived yet I have been thinking about what to build as a second army, both so I can switch things up from time to time and to lend out for people to use if they want to try a game. I have a bunch mortal Chaos so Warriors it is I think.

    I have available:

    • The Christmas box (10 Warriors, 5 Chosen, 5 Knights, Lord on big mount, 3 Ogroid things)
    • Most of the Krone guys from AoS1 launch (5 Warriors, 10 light infantry, 1 Battle standard, 1 Lord with pet)
    • Lord on Lizard thing from a while ago (or most of him I think, not too worried if I can’t find him/use him as I have the lord from the Christmas box)
    • Wharmammer + Sorcerer

I have on order with my local independent:

    • Vanguard Slave to Darkness (10 Warriors, 5 Knights, Lord on foot, chariot)
    • Box of Chosen (5 Chosen)

Also considering Khagra's ravagers as a source of additional Hero characters / sorcerer

Would a Fomoroid Crushers work as a giant or is he to small?

So with the above models in mind I was thing something along the lines of the following in terms of unit composition/equipment.

    • 1 Lord on demonic mount to join the Knights
    • 1 Korne battle standard bearer (using the AoS1 guy) – join unit on foot that has mark of khorne
    • 1 chariot / hero on chariot (horse or beast thing?), would this be good for a magic caster?
    • 10 Warriors with hand weapon and shield – Full command
    • 10 Warriors with halberds and shield – Full command
    • 15 Chosen/Warriors with great weapon – Full command, thinking of using the 5 korne AoS1 warriors and spares parts to convert them to great weapons
    • 10 Knights/Chosen Knights with lances

The 10 Aos1 Korne light infantry guys could be marauders I guess, but not fussed, they may also end up as some jackles for my world eaters

The tree Ogrid things I guess can become Chaos Ogers, or maybe dragon ogers depending on size, or ally in relevant beast man unit??

  4. So this new expanded Kroot range has me once again contemplating doing a conversion project to bring them into AoS or (maybe Old World).

Do Cities of Sigmar still have demigryth knights from the empire range, the Krootox rampages looks like they could be a count as for those, then convert the carnivores into ranged and melee infantry. Normal Kroox could be the new ogre with gunner on top, or perhaps the cannon.

We know from the new year shadow there is going be another mounted kroot thing, so maybe normal cavelary there.

  5. With the new Kroxigor I thought it might be time to work on Lizards again, and specifically a Kroxigor centric army now that they can be battleline. They do however appear to have not done enough sunbathing as they are now slower than before and can’t keep up with their little palls.

As there are no Kroxigor characters it will have to be a bunch of conversions and count as. Taking the movement, save and wound of the Kroxigor as a baseline and selecting characters that are in line with this I am looking at a 1000p list along the lines of:

    Version 1

    • Nakai the Wanderer (Saurus Scar-Veteran on Aggradon)
    • Kroxigor mage (Skink Starseer)
    • Kroxigor
    • 2x Kroxigor Warspawned
    • Kroxigor with Solar Engine (Spawn of Chotec)

    Version 2

    • Nakai the Wanderer (Saurus Scar-Veteran on Aggradon)
    • Kroxigor Icon bearer (Saurus Astrolith Bearer)
    • Kroxigor mage (Skink Starseer)
    • 2x Kroxigor
    • Kroxigor Warspawned

    Thoughts?

Currently I am eyeing up the Necron Canoptek Sentinel from forgeworld to convert into an insane tunnelling machine, with warpstone rivets along its carapace charging up a wicked Wyrktek drill at the front. WIll model it erupting from the ground and smashing through ruins, to be run as a Hellpit Abomination

Go for it, I have only built the Stalker and not the Sentinel but it is a really posable kit as each body segment is a separate piece. Just don’t do what I did and put the little claws and the legs in the wrong sockets.

Maybe also have a look at the Plastic Canoptek Spiders. The body can be built without the large abdomen and the legs can be positioned in such a way that they touch the ground and no flying stand is needed. Might make a good mechanical mount.

Cheers, the feet were an odd sticking point for me as there was no natural anchor point for the pedals, when I do the version 2 model I'll be using jewelers chain to suspend the pedals from inside the central cockpit to give it better support and more logical walking function.

I had been eyeing the Scions but most of the ££ cost of the kit is made up in special weapons that are useless for sigmar. When buying two boxes to get the ten models they're similar price to the Krieg/Auxilia models that I find slightly more appealing.

Good to know that the next one will be even better.

Fair point on the Scions, though if you do go for them for any of the units you can probably ebay the special weapons to recover some funds.

From your description and the picture the Cogfort is giving me a Howl’s Moving Castle vibe, loving it.

  8. Just popped in to see if you have any new fantastic conversions for me to admire and get inspired by and you certainly delivered. The use of the Iron Circle Domitar is great.

My one minute pint of criticism would be that the pilot just seems to hang there with his feet dangling.

    Other than that looking good.

For the infantry, what about Scions? Build them without the backpacks, trim the little lamp of the armour, head swaps and gun swaps could look good. The armour plates might look a bit too good for 5+ though.

  9. To me the Suneater riding Magma Dragon sounds like an interested idea and I would love to see what you do for this.

In terms of rules, would it work ok as a count as Stardrake for the Sentinels of Jotungard? Or would this be the start of an entire new army?

Squiggoth with cannon and orger drummer sounds interesting as well but the first thing that came to my mind was a 40k Squiggoth with some ork lightning gun thing. I am sure that whatever concept you are working on it will look great and completely different but Dawn of War gamplay just keeps going round my head.
