I barely know anything about AoS except that the model line actually greatly improved which has carried over to 40k.  Of course Nagash is basically never going away like Orochimaru...also there's wierd alliances now that seem to be based upon the different levels of structure and civility regardless of what morals steer those factions in those areas. It seems morathi is a con, got exposed, decided to double down on the con and then somehow absorbed all clout meant for Khaine and reached God mode.  Which seems kinda cool. It doesn't matter to me really. dark elves just are the coolest looking elves.  Though I don't like the majority being females from a lore perspective. I rather enjoyed the more uncommon females. Because they mostly were the biggest manipulators and some of the most deadly fighters around.

I also bought a lot KO stuff. I like the aspect of Flying Stunty Soldiers of Fortune..

I really appreciate the information.  I like the idea of using everything dark elves.  I'm still wondering about the Shadowstalkers from warcry. Is there a way to field that as a unit in AoS? Or do they just have a mixed squad formed from other units available?

Shadowstalkers have a warscroll, which is also in the Battletome.

Drusa Kraeth's Shadowpact may be of interest to you if you can find it in a local store, the box has a lot of old Dark Elf stuff at a decent discount.

I've only really skimmed through the book. Mostly because I dont know all the rules for the game anyways.

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that maybe some DoK bonuses are only available if your whole army is DoK. If not then I may use them they look way cooler than say the witch elves..maybe proxy them.

Where do the shadow stalkers fit into the army? I only have battle scribe ...I can't see where to add them although I've been told it's possible

If you use allies then your army still receives the bonuses of army allegiance. 200 points for 1000 points games and 400 points for 2000 points games.

  3. @Prince Tûrion Rilyalöce Good model. You could proxy him as Avalenor, as he's a Character and a large unit. If you have Archers, they go well as Sentinels and Spearmen can be Princes. Silver Helms and Dragon Princes could both be the Lumineth cavalry. Swordmasters or White Lions could be the Stoneguard.

@Gecktron Love the designs for the Great Nations! Going to use them for sure!

Hopefully we will see a Tyrionic hero and another Aelementiri temple at some point! I would really like a combat hero, I was thinking of using an allied Idoneth Akhelian King (High Elf Prince on Griffon) to scratch that itch.

I was thinking of using the same model for an Eidolon of the Storm! Might be small, though.

How does an Eidolon look as an ally to the Lumineth?

  5. Read through the rules a little, really liking Zaitrec in rules and in lore.

The part where they prefer to get the information "straight from the source, rather than the mouthpiece" and how it irks Teclis to Tyrion's glee is hilarious. Makes them seem far more like characters we know rather than super serious powerful gods, and that's really nice for the Mortal Realms.

Hope it works out better for you than it did for me - but I hate hate hate HATE the Polyurethane primer by Vallejo with a passion. And I really dig Vallejo outside of that one. To be honest I can't even imagine a varnish making it much more durable, at least the ones I've used (and I tried every trick in the book - from washing the minis to diluting it with Ab thinner to not diluting it). You should really test it first on a spare model - it's amazing to look at for sure but it can really easily be scratched (or even rubbed) off. The only good thing about it was that I could easily be removed even a week later without any residue.

Sorry for being a negative nancy here, keeping my fingers crossed though!

I've been using it for a good few miniatures, brushed on for many, and it's been resilient to rubbing off at least. I haven't tried scratching it, but I'll be extra careful with my models and transporting them. Thanks for the tips!!

It's better than Vallejo (like a million times better) but it is NOT as durable as spray primers. Not even close. If you play with your minis, do yourself a favor and dust them with a spray can primer (see my above post) - I've tried a lot of primers and ultimately was always unhappy with only AB priming.

Thanks for the information! I don't use the Badger stuff, just Vallejo, and haven't gotten around to playing yet haha. I'll add a few varnish layers over my AB primed models to make them durable.

  8. Quite excited for them to be released. I have quite a few old High Elf units, Spire of Dawn being the source of most of them. If I counts-as my Reavers as the Lumineth Cavalry, put together the dragon princes I've had for a while, and with the Lumineth Box, that'll be 15 cavalry. 20 spears with the Sea guard counting as the Lumineth spears, and 10 Alarith counts as with the Swordsmasters. Are the Lumineth on 32mm bases? If so, I'll be alright to rebase them but the old models look a little small on 32mm.

The DoK Battleforce seems to be just 4 current boxes bashed together, 1 Blood Coven, 2 Khinerai and 1 Melusai.

Not too sure if you will enjoy some price discount but I think they cost exactly the same if purchase the 4 boxes Ala Carte.

Bought separately it's £65 more than buying the battleforce. A fair discount to be sure.
