The other question is what are you putting in the portal? The summoner makes some sense in Tzeentch because you can put flamers in there

You can bring Flamers in S2D as allies. Add an Exalted Flamer to buff them. Or Skyfires or Horrors or Kairic Acolytes. Everything with range >8" can fire right away.

I'd argue that the best S2D units to deep strike are slow units like Chosen or Chaos Warriors. Chaos Warriors might even get their bonus attacks with proper positioning. Chaos Knights don't need it. The Gaunt Summoner can cast Daemonic Speed with +1 to cast on them in the first hero phase, send them away and still do his trick with his units in reserve afterwards.

edit: Why is the TZEENTCH keyword useless? You mentioned Warp Reality. A mobile hero is the best candidate to utilize it.  A Gaunt Summoner on Disc in the opponents flank can +1 cast Warp Reality > Deamonic Speed on Chaos Knights for example.

Sure, deploy out of range of those iron blasters...

That's your argument? Then you are aware of the range and don't use Silvered Portal. That's the point of assessing the threat range (and asking for the amount of drops).

His ability takes place in Deployment after deploying the Gaunt Summoner on Disc. You can still choose not putting a TZEENTCH unit into the Silvered Tower and deploy it as usual if the risk seems too high.

Nevertheless with proper terrain you might have an opportunity to hide him. Then fly over it in your movement phase with 16" Movement. He's even allowed to run and use
Silvered Portal if you need the additional range. With a screen summoned next to him he benefits from Look Out, Sir!. A Chaos Sorcerer Lord on Manticore is definitely more exposed to said Ironblasters turn 1.

  3. I found a very interesting Scarlet Doom Nagash list which went 5-0 in Bristol a couple of weeks ago. Although I wonder what the Spirit Hosts contribute to the list without being able to protect Nagash:

    Quote

    Allegiance: Nighthaunt
    – Procession: Scarlet Doom
    – Grand Strategy: Show of Dominance
    – Triumphs: Inspired

    Leaders
Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead (955)*
    Spirit Torment (115)*
    – General
    – Command Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts
    – Artefact: Lightshard of the Harvest Moon

    Battleline
    20 x Bladegheist Revenants (350)*
    – Reinforced x 1
    20 x Bladegheist Revenants (350)*

    3 x Spirit Hosts (125)*

    Units
    2 x Chainghasts (95)*

    Core Battalions
    *Battle Regiment

    Total: 1990 / 2000

Looking at it, it seems to me that the intention is to prevent a non wizard hero from being able to double dip and become a 3 cast wizard. Two casts is still possible I think?

How do you come up with these numbers? Blasphemous Rituals plus Arcane Tome on a non-WIZARD hero results in 1 cast. Where does the second cast come from? It's certainly not on the warscroll.

    Of course.

If u take a Tzeenth Daemon Prince in a Cabalit List. In his HeroAction is ecxactly written what happen if he is already a Wizzard and go for his Heroaction in your own Herophase.

And 3 Cast is Possibel für a Sorcerer with Arcane Tome in Cabalitst or not ?!

You are missing the point entirely. We are talking about non-WIZARD heros.

I have at the Weekend a game against the Number 2 of Germany. He play SolblightGravelord.

Take notes, remember his comments and write a battereport.

If the brings Cado Ezechiar shut him down with Bel'akor and have a Wizard in range to unbind his spell. It's especially good againts CHAOS units.

Nope. Allies do not benefit from anything the army allying them gets.

That's not accurate. You can find interactions between S2D units and allies in this codex. As mentioned above you can yeet Sigvald with a SLAANESH Warshrine across the battlefied. The Warshrine doesn't discriminate any allied units. Allies benefit trom the Trophy Rack in range of a Daemon Prince, his Doombringer Blade or Radiance of Dark Glory.

To crown it all, lesser daemons get the SLAVES TO DARKNESS keyword in Legion of the First Prince so you can... uh...

I'm running Nurgle std and he is Slaanesh std

There are only very few efficent allies, which stand out: It's predominantly Bloodstoker and Bloodsecrator to buff KHORNE units or Sigvald, who can be accelerated by a SLAANESH warshrine and obtain 3D6 attacks after his charge. There's weird stuff you can do with TZEENTCH allies and nothing noteworthy from Maggotkin of Nurgle in my opinion. They would be included with the NURGLE mark in a list though.

Gnashing Jaws, Burning Head and Spite Tongue Curse is plugging 10+ MW on average vs a Mv 5/6 unit.

If the use case is exterminating chaff, then Infernal Flames and Winds of Chaos should be mentioned as warscroll spells as well. Multiple Endless Spells do add up in points and at a certain point it should be considered to just take (or upgrade to) a potent caster in my opinion.

...and you can screen them with archers like mentioned by @Wraith. I don't know why Karic Acolytes aren't listed by him though. They have a pseudo Ward 6+ with their shields and sufficient melee weapons.

  9. I think this is my final version of my Cabalists list:

    Spoiler

    Allegiance: Slaves to Darkness

    Damned Legion: Cabalists

    Grandy Strategy: Defend What’s Ours

    Triumph: Bloodthirsty

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    Leaders

    Chaos Lord (115)*

    - Mark of Chaos: Undivided
    - General
    - Command Trait: Master of Magic
    - Artefact: Arcane Tome
    - Spell: Flaming Weapon, Chaotic Conduit

Gaunt Summoner on Disc of Tzeentch (240)*

    - Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch
    - Artefact: Amulet of Destiny
    - Spell: Binding Damnation, Spit-tongue Curse, Chaotic Conduit, Ruinous Vigor, Daemonic Speed

    Chaos Sorcerer Lord (120)*

    - Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch
    - Spell: Daemonic Speed, Binding Damnation

    Units

    10 x Chaos Knights (460)

    - Mark of Chaos: Slaanesh
    - Cursed Lances

    10 x Chaos Warriors (220)*

    - Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch
    - Murderous Weapons

    10 x Chaos Warriors (220)*

    - Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch
    - Murderous Weapons

    5 x Chaos Chosen (240)

    - Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch
    - Icons of Chaos: The Blasted Standard

    5 x Chaos Chosen (240)

    - Mark of Chaos: Undivided
    - Retinue

    10x Kairic Acolytes (120)

    - Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch
    - Allies

    Additional Enchantments

    Artefact of Power

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    Core Battalions:

    *Warlord

    Total: 1975 / 2000 Point

The army composition should look like this:

Chaos Lord / Chaos Sorcerer Lord / Chaos Chosen (Retinue)

Both casters roam around as couple to benefit from the Draw on Power heroic action. The Chaos Lord casts Chaotic Conduit on him or his Chosen retinue depending on the situation. The Chaos Sorcerer Lord casts Daemonic Speed on Chaos Knights in range, as soon as a good opportunity occurs. They provide buffs and debuffs for the backline later on.

Gaunt Summoner on Disc of Tzeentch / Chaos Chosen / Kairic Acolytes

Chosen and Acolytes are stashed in the Silver Tower, if the threat range allows this trick: The flying Gaunt Summoner with 16" movement runs into a better position in the movement phase and summons both units at the end of it. Chosen with banner and standard ready to charge and Acolytes nearby to shot in the same turn and protect the Gaunt Summoner with Look out, Sir!. In hopes of him surving early turns he can repostion and Warp Reality more Chaos Warriors if necessary. He receives the additional artefact to be more survivable with a Ward 5+.

    Chaos Knights / Chaos Warriors

Battleline units predominantly. As mentioned above the Chaos Knights should receive an early Daemonic Speed for a hasty charge, while Chaos Warriors keep an eye out for brawls or objectives with the option to be repositioned with Warp Reality into enemy territory.

I did also get the new box so I do own 3 Ogroid Theridons.

I think this is the most easiest approach. Take them and a Triumph and see how it goes. If you think they don't serve a purpose replace them with a Warshrine and alter the amount of your Chosen / Warriors.

Looks like a great idea for a conversion. If you're going to put him on a disk I think you'd be best running him as a gaunt summoner or a chaos lord on daemonic mount, otherwise it might get a little confusing on the table.

It will be magnetitzed anywhy. I'll prepare an additional base for the acutal foot version.

Don't have my tome yet (didn't get the box set but preordered the regular book).  Are Exalted Heroes just heroes and not Leaders?  Wondering if that would work, and it would be neat making a bunch of individually themed maniacs.

"Exalted Hero of Chaos" is listed as Leader.

What is the purpose of this new guy anyway? Slow HERO and MONSTER hunter? Cheap Cabalists caster hybrid? Eye of the Gods slot machine?

edit: ...uh, like a Sorcerer Lord in Terminator Armor?

Only drawback is that you might really wanna airbrush it then as it becomes a bit thin/runny although less of a problem if you don‘t use the vallejo metal colors (still possible to use with a brush though, don‘t get me wrong). Either way, looking forward to your take! 👍

I am quite optimistic. I got a good result with a purple / brown Contrast mix over silver on my Necrons and this time I'll even have more options. I just discovered Green Stuffs World's colorshift paints and Storm Surge Green might look totally bonkers on Tzeentch units. Might have to buy a better airbrush pistol though.
