Most of the FW AoS models are "Last Chance to Buy". It is time to say goodbye Troggoth Hag.

    image.png.ef4149c3d8d7b488e479785f5984fe9d.png

Only the models that have overlap with 40k are staying, but not even all of those (which is weird).

Even the Stormcast heads have gone (no longer listed).

I hope something like the dread Saurian, the Troggoth Hag and the Mournghul find their way to plastic

  3. They say 2023 is an Age of Sigmar year, and yes, that is warranted, but how much can we really expect in the year of 40k 10th edition?

I think I'll have to get me some skinkies to use as kobolds, that works fine with these, but they'll probably grow in the redesign.

  4. I'd choose Nighthaunt or FEC.

FEC has really nice lore wholly distinct from their models, but they are prime candidates for kitbashing.

They imagine themselves as kings and queens, lords and nobles, so if you can build that duality into dioramas, it would be great! From one side, we see the creature it has become, but the other half of the model looks noble (perhaps from Freeguild Greatswords, with the bigger ones Stormcast) and a view from that side paints a different picture.

Dreadscythe Harridans are cursed to have their hands replaced by scythes and driven to bloodlust, while aware of what they are doing but unable to stop it, all because they were healers in life, denying souls to Nagash.

I suppose these are oil-based. The kerosene smell of mineral spirits should keep any sane person from putting anything into their mouth.

Pthalo pigments and cadmium are certainly also in acrylic. Source: my collection.

The medium does not matter for most of these.

I mean, we are all ingesting a bunch of petroleum based byproducts all the time, some of which we now know are also certainly bad for us. I'm not saying consuming tiny amounts of acrylic medium isn't also bad for us, but in the head scheme of things it's a pretty small thing.

If we look at artist's paints; lead, cadmium, cobalt, several borates, arsenic, mercury, antimony, copper, nickel and manganese are on the menu.

As far as I know, minipaints are nontoxic (not so sure about kimera though), but take care when branching out.

I keep thinking of how amazing it would be for sisters to get the push for tenth. Still power armoured heroes and they are really pushing them to the fore lately.

Sisters vs Tyranids would be such a cool and fun box!

They can even go back to Space Marines in the future but just for the 10th edition doing something special would be great!

I also think that Chaos Space Marines should be the Space Marine side of a starter set one day. Then they could feature another Imperium faction in the starter set.

But I am inclined to believe the rumours and think it will be even more Space Marines this time fighting bugs.
I think that they are doing it as a cross promotion with the Space Marine game knowing it will bring more interest to the hobby. I have even discussed with a friend that I might be willing to split the next Starter Set and finally play my least favourite faction so he can get some bugs... but I at least came up with a paint scheme I like for them and lore wise I will 100 percent make them the villains.

That is a great idea! I'd also love Votann vs Tyrranids, so the in-lore reason they were gone at first is accented.

But then I would buy Sisters, Orks, Eldar, Votann, Tau vs anyone but space marines (spicy or vanilla).

I already have 5 space marines, and variety or design isn't great enough to warrant more.

Bad spot model wise...a quick look at the webstore shows they have more kits than almost the entire 40K catalogue combined!? Id love to meet these people and question their sanity because I cannot understand the logic behind it!! Maybe all Space Marine fans are enthralled to Tzeentch..

Oh absolutely if it werent for Space Marines we wouldnt have AOS!! I was just thinking thematically it would be interesting and help push the narrative that Space Marines arent the goodies!!

They probably want all the options in their specific colour of space marine.

Personally, I don't even see a reason to do it. Just twist your brush on the palette for a bit and it will have a nice point. No need to ingest mystery pigments and acrylic medium all the time.

Oh, I did this a lot. But Cadmium Yellow changed that.

  10. If you want stuff for a modeling purpose:

    Greatswords

    General on Griffin

    Demigryphs

    Celestian hurricanum

These are good models with a high chance of being removed. Warmage are also decent (but covered by the Griffin and Hurricanum).

Freeguild Guard, Handgunners and General on foot also exist as do Fanatics, but they are not good.

From a longevity perspective it is hard to make recommendations, because so much of the range is on the cusp of being dumped.

There are non-AoS recommendations as well, Skitarii Rangers with a headswap and minor filling make excellent handgunners, and Cawdor Necromunda models are quite useful as well.

For non-GW, you can't go wrong with Frostgrave Soldiers and Wizards 1 and 2, but would need muskets if you want handgunners.

    So it is, weird!

So since the original purge during the transition of warhammer to AoS, has anything been discontinued without being replaced? (excluding the Underworlds warbands which are in range rotation).

Almost everything from forgeworld, about 20 boxes from now CoS in 2019, chaos familiars, the original Silver Tower heroes, quite a few Greenskin units, some things in Death.

I think about 40 boxes in total. I expect the rest of Forgeworld, Mortis Engine and quite a few resin or metal things are also on the chopping block.

I'm sure I've seen "last chance to buy" used in the past few years. But can't now for the life of me remember what it was used for?

Hmm, maybe it was for stuff they were taking away for reboxing?

Iirc, the most recent warband removals they didn't say anything about rotating/them ever coming back.

About 20 boxes of factions that are now CoS had been put on last chance to buy.

Most of those were already "temporarily unavailable".

GW obscured that status purposefully, up to the Warshrine going briefly to "no longer available" before being put to "temporarily unavailable" until they finally sent out the mail.

Just before the culling I tried to buy two kits that were not listed as unavailable, but they just were not added to my cart, whichever way I tried.

So with the updated rumors we got a clearer picture of what is staying and what is going:

    Being cut:

    • Wanderer- 6 units
    • Shadow Warriors
    • Darkling Coven basic Infantry- 3 units
    • All Freeguild- 9 units
    • Pirates and Order Serpentis Chariots- 2 units
    • Helblaster Volley Gun & Helstorm Rocket Battery- 2 units
    • Collegiate Arcane- 6 units

    Staying:

    • Most of Ironweld Arsenal- 5 units
    • Assassin and Dark Riders combined with around half of Darling Coven- 6 units
    • Dispossessed- 6 units
    • Phoneix Temple- 6 units
    • Remaining Order Serpenits combined with remaining Pirates- 6 units

So wow them combining and cutting gave us 4 non human races with 6 units in each.

Also very proxy/kit bash friendly with only the Chariots and Mage Cart being the units I don't see having a good replacement?

Wanderers feel weird to me, the Sisters of the Thorn are sold in stores.

EDIT before posting, they have gone to webstore only. That's too bad, they are good looking models.

Good to know. I just love the model really much. It´s gorgous :D I think GW should do more female monsters of trolls, orks and goblins. They ahve started with humans and elves which are good but we need more.

Yeah, they mostly have young, fit, Caucasian women while male models get a lot more diversity. But they at least include female models for humans and elves (and Tau) in kits now.

Gitz might be relatively safe, they haven't dumped any FW models for a while now as far as I know.

The Troggoth Hag is still sold, and in the official app, appears in the monstrous Arcanum section, instead of the legends one. Furthermore, you can has her to your armies in the official builder, so I guess she's still perfectly legal.

I would caution that any FW stuff is on shaky ground. Most of what was available for AoS has been removed without even a community post.

Puh, that make me happy to hear. Was worried that they where going away.

I have not bought the kit but it looks good and the models are awsome.

Get the Start Collecting while it still exists, it will probably be changed for a Vanguard at some point.

With a little bit of greenstuffing, you can make six Troggoths from the set, including double headed ones.
