The problem now with the state of current Cities kits is... I have to motivate myself to paint the Celestial Hurricanum, a model chock full of details, in sub assemblies... (I'd rather paint a Saga warband instead)

Matthew Whitby on Twitter: "@freeners [Kylo Ren GIF: "I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it."] https://t.co/o4NPacIUE5" / Twitter

HE cut out will inevitably pop up and TOW, and leave room for new LRL units - which I'm sure LRL players would appreciate, provided they don't come with another battletome.

Gonna repeat myself (sorry for those who have heard this rant before) but to me the 40k Chaos Beastman Kill Team heralds a new age of Beasts of Chaos sculpts. Which means you can kill two birds in one stone and cover Old World and AoS Beastmen in one release... just sayin'.

Don't worry, they can still make beastmen in new epic, the RTS, 40k and Necromunda before them coming to AoS

Makes it even more weird that they announced that TOW will feature resin, plastic and metal models. Maybe they decided to phase out the universally disliked finecast instead of metal first? There are certainly some smaller miniature companies that still use metal, so it's not like it's a completely outdated technology.

You are right, they did say that!

I'm not privy to GW's financials, but I'd say maintaining a supply chain just for a few of their oldest sculpts (assuming new sculpts will either be plastic or FW resin) does not make much sense, but then GW/FW isn't the best at resin.

My bet is that everything new that is heroe-related or special scultps like unique monsters are going to be resin.

I assume that new/ updated units are going to be plastic, but only a few of them for each army. Btw, I can see a a few heroes in plastic if there is going to be a new big box set and if we are really lucky, maybe a new centerpiece in plastic every few months.

Of course, with the return of old miniatures and probably old big box sets too. Some in plastic, some in resin and maybe a few in metal.

I would expect metal models to go the way of the dodo, that's a whole different bit of factory and supply chain to maintain for only a few models. Also looking at you, Skryre Acolytes.

Hello guys, bit of an off topic question for the people here that are familiar with the WHFB model ranges from back in the day, but also with the Horus Heresy line of models from Forge World and the way they are marketed and sold nowadays. So can you share your thoughts on the possible composition of new model ranges for the armies we are about to get for TOW, having in mind the current sets that are produced for HH? So for example for Bretonnia do you think we will get single characters like the Paladin and BSB in resin and the bigger models like Lord on Hippogryph and/or units like the Grail Knights in plastic or they will most likely lean towards full resin release of the new models?

I suspect resin for all characters, plastic for troops.

  5. With Aeronatica being removed, I am once again baffled by GW. If they had done a proper announcement I'd have purchased most Orc craft and a few others. Now I'll have to print similar craft and they get no money from me.

Give us time to buy your product!

Listening to 2+Tough's harbinger lore videos.. the new Trogg we're getting is sounding really big(?) I mean it's from the perspective of a dwarf but referred to as "the size of a mountain"

I'm really curious if it'll be a hero, a unit or a dual kit to make both and how that might affect the GSG book. We have dankhold, rockgut, felwater.. what do we think the theme for this one would be? Could it be the return of the sour breath? Or maybe something fire/life related?

It might be a Dutch dwarf, and it's no larger than a 32 mm speed bump.

Remove? I would have the Gyrocopter (Along with the other Dispossessed kits) moved into their own Dispossessed Duardin sub-faction. I would keep and add to the Dispossessed aesthetic with new Warmachines and Units. I would like to see a 4th Edition Duardin release be a single large Battletome of 300+ pages with 10+ New kits split across FyreSlayers/Kharadon/Dispossessed.

As for the Sisters of Thorn? I would move them to ToW Woodelf faction where they really belong. They could still be purchased by those who want them but they would be moved into a legacy AoS tier. The General on Griffin? Yep. It's a fine model but it's time for the chop (The same with 90% of the Empire models)

Just yesterday you said you wanted an almost complete removal of all pre-AoS kits, that's why I assumed that you basically want a removal of pre-AoS kits, among which are the three gems I listed.

Souping has not led to more kits for the factions that were put in the blender, I'd want to see evidence of that changing before removal of identity by stuffing them together.

Agree with this. Age of Sigmar has 24 solid thematic factions. (9 Order, 7 Chaos, 4 Death. 4 Destruction) We are a good year away from the launch of 4th Edition and with Cities and FEC on the horizon, the game will be "complete". By the end of the year. With each Faction sitting on a V3 version of their codex. How do people feel about the release schedule in terms of Battletomes over the last 3 years? I remember a convo before stating that a "hard cap" of 30 factions for Age of Sigmar would be a good spot. Whilst this is possible, I'm not sure if it would be good for the game if there are as many as that.

I know there are many that will have kittens at the suggestion, but I still think it would be better for the game as a whole if Duardin (Fyreslayers, Kharadon and Dispossessed) - (As well as other Duardin types) were all presented under one Duardin Battletome. With the emphasis on picking one sub-faction but with less effective soup lists possible. I also think the return of Malerion and the introduction of Shadow elves should be presented alongside the Daughters of Khaine under a single Battletome.

For me, Age of Sigmar should stick with '24 Factions' and look to develop and expand on them. A consolidation of the Duardin under one Battletome and the reunification of Morathi and Malerion under another would allow for the introduction of lots of cool Duardin and Shadow Aelf models without expanding the number of factions. There would even be a free space for something completely new. 24 factions is an important amount IMO (With 3-year edition cycles = 34/36 months) Having 10 months worth of space to allow the edition to breathe and for campaigns etc

Or you could say ****** it, add new factions every year or so and double up on releases. With how mature many of the ranges are, they could just keep expanding.

So not only do you want to remove sets like the General on Griffin, Gyrocopter and Sisters of the thorn, you also want to remove any real chance of Fyreslayers and Kharadron getting new kits by souping them?

Souping does not give things new kits.

I don't know why some of you have gotten in their heads that Bonesplitters are somehow on the chopping block and that their days are numbered until their inevitable extinction. They've been around since early AoS and always been present in the lore, albeit a bit in the background. But if it was the case they're scheduled for dissapearance, they wouldn't have received an Underworlds warband...

Underworlds warbands run out of rotation as well.

The other two types of orcs are incredibly safe, and there is a good chance Bonesplitters are as well, but it's different because it doesn't have AoS era kits.

  10. Suggestions:

Female fast mover unit on flaming wings, dual kit with either high rend (two handed weapon) or high save (shields). Walkure styling highly suggested.

Minimagmadroth swarms that provide a damaging effect around them and slowly reform (healing each turn).

    Expectations:

    Extra infantry heroes.

It's an odd thing that I find all the weirdness and strangeness of the Mortal Realms and all that's going on in and around them far more 'believable' and easy to immerse than I do 40k. I so badly struggle to willingly suspend my disbelief with 40k but don't have that problem with the Realms.

It might be that the "Everything is awful" theme is so pervasive in 40k.

I agree that other armies do need their time in the spotlight, but CoS as a starter/beginner faction is something that I kind of doubt would work well. SCE are easy to paint (and easy to make look pretty good too), don't need much customization and are relatively easy to play.

CoS is one of the armies with the most options. City choice, ally choice, tons of unit options, etc. Models with a lot more details to paint too. And subjectively, they're pretty low-fantasy in the grand scheme of AoS, SCE are a better introduction to the setting as a whole too.

Stormcast are essentially models in 50 mm scale. Especiallythe more recent ones with human proportions. This makes them easy enough to start painting, while not as monumental a task as King Brodd's people. Their design is also quite easy to paint, and some of their models genuinely look good.

Dawnbringers have smaller details, (not to mention things like the Celestial Hurricanum, which is awesome) and the future of some bits of the COS range (basically everything that isn't Dawnbringers and adjecent heroes) is uncertain. You really don't want to have people that just started having their faction stripped or canned.

Yeah, they used to reduce the price a fair amount (£25ish down to £16) but the newer ones seen to barely go down at all. I'm guessing they've realized a significant proportion of sales were not actually for Underworlds players and people were willing to pay the higher price just for the minis.

If you're in the EU you could pick up Ylthari's from Forbidden Planet when that issue guess up for preorder. You'll need to pay whatever P&P they charge for overseas delivery, but the magazine itself only costs £9 so you should still get them a fair bit cheaper than they were fur sale in GW's website.

Thanks I will do that. Especially Mollog's Mob and Ylthari.

Newer teams barely drop in price, and then also are not available discounted so it's effectively a markup.

It's almost certainly not based on a real thing. Scythes don't actually make very good weapons at all due to being incredibly unwieldy. If you're a peasant in a rebellion you might pick up a scythe as an improved weapon, but only if you don't have a pitch fork available. Even then you might be better off removing the blade if the scythe and using the handle as a club/staff. As such is unlikely any martial art is going to have picked up the scythe as a weapon and, in turn, incredibly unlikely they'd have modified it to have two heads.

And in an agricultural setting the really isn't a good reason to have two heads on your scythe. It'll make it more tiring to use, and more dangerous too.

So I think it's probably a fantasy thing. Not sure whether anyone had done it before DnD.

There is this, of course, but this guy wanted to write forms about jyst about everything.
