Judging by Whitefang's reactions the leak is correct on the CoS points. I'll miss wanderers and the german state trooper-esque humans, not that I ever collected either, that's just my nostalgia talking. I'll be happy if Dispossessed stay for time being to represent the "classic" dwarf archetype.
Sadly leaks didn't include anything about Chaos Duardin - stay strong, P.U.D., stay strong for Hashut...one day he shall return and bring darkness to the Realms.
Greatswords, Demigryphs and General on Griffin are all great sets.
It's the rest that's showing its age.

It looks like they have the balance quite well done. 3 above the 10% band, and 4 below, and two of these seven are expecting a tome shortly.

You don't need gangs of the under hive anymore, that was the old edition, and is no longer sold. Basically the group needs a core book and then you each need your faction book. Still more books than stargrave though!
That is better. Still not going to play it, but three books is nonsense.

Yeah I would certainly not want the usual GW rules bloat with a mordheim style game. Too many books. I don't spend money on Necromunda because I wouldn't know where begin. Been covered before but an app with the rules for their games then more people would get involved.
Austin one it the great things about mordheim was price point. Buy one unit and use a few spare bits and you were good to go
As far as I know, for Necromunda you need the core rulebook, gangs of the underhive and the faction book. Depending on mercenaries and game mode, you might need more. These are all full price books, every one of these books is more expensive than Frost- or Stargrave.
This also means the rules can be in any one of the books, so you'll need to bring them and find the correct section.
40k players reacted weird when I did not agree with this. I returned the core rulebook to the store and purchased Snotlings and some other stuff for the store credit, haven't looked back since.

I just love that the vampire in the casket is waiting to reform feeding and getting stronger on all kinds of energies/magic while the black coach crashes through the battlefield. Just adds so much character. Awesome model.
I think I'll have Lady Annika roll up to their front door in it.
Lady Olynder and the Black Coach are works of art, I like that this box has both.

I purchased the Nighthaunt set, now I just need to craft an excuse to haunt my Pathfinder 2 players with loads of spooks. They are already well aquinted with Banshees, the Briar queen and Glaivewraith Stalkers, but at some point, somebody's going to drive up to them in the Black Coach.

Mordheim is what drew me in big time to the hobby. I was already playing WHFB and 40K using borrowed minis at GW Leicester who used to put on fantastic teaching games for big groups of smelly teens! But when Mordheim came out they had the free elf ranger mini in white dwarf (I think) and me and my mate painted it for an in-store painting competition (came 3rd after the original 3rd place complained he wasn't first!)
What I loved in those mordheim games there would be maybe 3 players per warband and 4 or 5 warbands on the go in some ruined buildings as we tried to collect gold and weapons . It was loads of fun in there.
The setting and the artwork was amazing and although I wasn't too bothered about the naming character side I did like that thought of having a large warband acquired over time and taking a squad of some of those for Any particular mission.
Basically an AoS/WHFB version of Necromunda would be great. I'm fine if the setting changes. My vote is for Ulfenkarn, really enjoying that game and the book.
Warcry is awesome too! They definitely share the same space in terms of small warbands and I've noticed they're increasing game by game content with more RPG elements but you could certainly have room for both games. A reimagined Mordheim I don't think would take away from Warcry
Necromunda has awesome models, but its rules are convoluted, unbalanced and spread across multiple full priced books.
If a Mortalheim system came out, it'd have to compete with Frostgrave, which is a lot more compact, and a lot cheaper.
For a box of gangers and the books I would have needed to play, I could have a book and warband+wizard+apprentice for myself and THREE friends.

The problem is that if you have 4 years per edition there is a chance that some faction will wait 7-8 years instead of 3-4. And this is considering the number of factions we have right now. If number will go to x2 mark then we will have fb situation where some faction will not be updated for 10+ years...
Currently, we have the situation where armies get a battletome mere months before the edition which it was written for is over.
The idea of a longer cycle is that all armies have multiple years with a battletome written for that system, not that armies will not get battletomes for entire editions.

To be fair, the business model for GW and other successful games companies is to sell miniatures. The rules are there to create demand for their models. Another example is Corvus Belli. There is nothing wrong with this in and of itself. If GW didn't make enough money, they would not be able to keep up the pace of rules support and background stuff like novels. In fact, now that I think about it, people like me who buy too many miniatures deserve affirmation for helping to create the wealth needed to further employ the lore creators.
If there is something that GW could be criticised for, it would be how their do their IP thing without any acknowledgement of the 1960's and 70's sources that inspired the Warhammer world in the first place. For example: Micheal Moorcock's Storm-bringer series, art by people like Frank Frazzetta, the Heavy Metal magazine and it's European forerunners, and many more. GW build on all these sources of then mainstream fantasy in the late 70's and 80's, but today seek to impose their own copyright on it. The Chaos symbol, for example, was a Michael Moorcock creation. It should be public IP. I think GW failed on their attempt to trademark "Space Marine". It had been used before 40K had even been launched.
Anyway, it is ok by me if GW takes a miniatures centric business model, as they have to remain profitable. I see no reason why they shouldn't trademark any IP that they really did come up with themselves. And it would be to their credit if they would be honest about the cultural sources that inspired Warhammer.
I am also okay if GW is a miniatures based company. It's the one thing they do that I enjoy (except for things like the Goff Rokker animation).
But this just makes them ignoring AoS even more obvious.

Elucidian Starstriders was released like 4 years ago (2018), they along with the Gellarpox infected were just rereleased this year after such a long time.
Ah sorry! I just went off the date on the site.

Miniature Of The Year voting.
Obviously the Avatar is going to win, but maybe Brodd can beat out the Daemon Prince for place.
I couldnt find every set, the Elucidian Starstriders are also 2022. I chose the Chaos Accursed, which are nice to paint and very well designed.

Is that Space Wolves or Space Pooches?
Anyway, getting back on track, AoS needs to be careful to avoid becoming to complex and too competitive. Isn’t that what killed 8th edition?
Aside from the double turn, do we need both a command point system and heroic actions?
Regarding the vibe, AoS 1 had a much more relaxed community which was more accessible to the novice. It seemed to become more tournament focused in AoS 2. Have we lost the artistic players?
The final point is that it is the lore that gets a person into one particular game over another. AoS lore has a lot of potential. Lore has always been GW’s strong point, so I think AoS will do well as long as the world is being developed.
I actually prefer the Mortal Realms over the Old World. In fact I was never impressed by the Old World, even back in the 3rd Ed days when I started. I played historical games too, and the Old World looked to me like a unimaginative adaption of 15th/16th century Europe to a fantasy setting. But a lot of people love it! I just find the Mortal Realms concept to be more creative with more possibilities.
But could GW promote the Lore and story a bit more? There isn’t much on Warhammer plus, for example. That is what will get people excited enough to endure the dreaded double turn.
The Mortal Realms as a setting is brilliant. At one point I might want to run a game in it in Soulbound. Compared to the Old World which started out with just Earth and stuffed more fantasy in, its a breath of fresh air. Its not as dour as 40k and has limitless room to make stories in.
The models are also very good.
This is why I suggested miniature agnostic games. Keep yourself in the world and use the models you like, but if the game that is written for it does not suit your gaming group, pick another game that does.
Frostgrave can easily be Mordheim, or a group of leaders that try to loot an old city in Ghur, or Shyish, or whererever. Stargrave works perfectly in 40k or Necromunda. Onepagerules are written to work with it. Reign in Hell could work well in the Varanspire etcetera.
Just like you dont need to run a D&D game on the Sword Coast, you can uncouple other games and settings.
When GW writes a game that does fit your gaming group, you can seamlessly blend back in.

Yeah, I don't really get the fursuit helmets.
Pug faces would be much better. Or maybe regular helmet with dog ear headbands. Perhaps a clip on tail, and mittens and loafers with dog paws.
Edited for a picture, because if I have "fursuit space marine" in my search history, you don't need to have that as well:

Space Wolves probably. But I need to dive into the lore and rules bevor I start building any army.
This is an excellent reason to 3d print pug, poodle and bulldog faces and put those in one of those transparent ball helmets on top of the space marine body.

Just looked, they are there.
On the site, they are not in Empire, and there is no Freeguild entry. Perhaps they are in the app, but I'm not going to install it to check.

Isnt that what "legends" is for? A way to play those units that are not in production, etc any more?
Legends is just another name for "removed". Also, I think the General on horse and Freeguild Archers still aren't added to legends.

Waiting for a turn takes a while, AoS is not a quick game.
Waiting two turns to see what you have left to do your turn with is a lot worse.

No soup for me. Soup seems to mean "no new boxes". Except an infantry hero here and there.
Were I to care about rules, it erodes one layer of faction specific options.

Wrong game :P.
Just curious now. Are these lotr models the same scale as aos? They seem smaller. They are smaller, and especially thinner.
Dwarves have about the build of Fantasy humans, but are a lot smaller.

I honestly do not get the constant complaint about "we deserve new models" from some fireslayers players here.
Not only is it quite an entiteled statement to make in general and for any hobbyist, it is also not like GW tricked anyone into believing there were more models to come ( remember when Armybooks had rules for units that didnt exist?)
Some of the FS players i know actually started their project because of the small scope. "its just two Start Collecting and a few blisters".
Now dont get me wrong: we are all in need of a new plastic fix. But at least give some pretend reason why your things are more releveant: "the army sure would look more interesting with an axthrower artillery", "those clanrats sure are old and it Shows", "make Brettonia a faction again".
I love me some dwarves, but I have no Fyreslayers because I didn't see any variety in the army. I do have Disposessed, Grombrindel, Kharadron and a few metal old dwarves.

This is pretty much where I stand. Don't get me wrong, if KO get more minis I'm not going to be upset: I love KOs aesthetic. But they need them far less than some other factions.
I do agree armies like Fyreslayers need variety a lot more, but I'm not going to buy new Kharadron when I already have that box.

I think you misunderstood what I was responding to (or else I wasn't clear). I was asking what good faction update pace would be if they don't count books/"infantry heroes". It seems like actual updates (currently) outside of that happen for the average faction every 4-5 years, with that average being pulled down by stormcast a bit.
EDIT: Battletome updates are one of my favorite parts of this game. I guess I'd prefer they be free digital updates in an app instead of a physical book, but beyond that I love them. It's a bit hard for me to understand those who are only in it for the hobby side of things, but I respect you guys!So one wave with at least one unit, preferably 2-3 (including a hero if need be) every six years. This is in addition to replacement of old kits in factions that need that to happen. This would mean factions like Kharadron, Fyreslayers, FEC, Ironjawz, Savage orcs etc would have a few extra sets by now.
I can't really comment on battletomes ghbs and campaign book because I don't play, but I would have the first out in the first two years, the second in summer and the third in the last four years of an edition.
In the infantry heroes GW presented this edition, it sort of feels like these were designs that didn't make the original cut that have been recycled, and they sell them for the price of 20 Frostgrave soldiers. I'm not into that.

Outside of Valkyia or whatever her name is Khorne is a total boys club I thought?
Valkia is one, but the Khorne cultists that were just revealed for 40k are mixed as well. The Iron Golem also was somewhat Khorne themed and mixed.
I'd think a new set for either would also be mixed.

General on Griffin can be built without KF signs with the right chest piece, Demis have it on their armour somewhere.
I kinda expect that they will be dumped, but that doesn't mean the kits aren't great.
Celestian Hurricanum is similarely good, but quite a challenging build and paint.
This was mostly advice to Public Universal Duardin if she wanted to get some taller models (if only to get things off the high shelves).
