  1. Working towards getting Archaon on the board, in the mean time I’m looking at this list.

    Reapers:

    BoIR

    Skarbrand

    Bloodsecrator x2

    Slaughterpriest

    Daemon Prince

    Bloodreavers MSU x2

    Wrathmonger

    Fleshhounds

    6x Mighty Skullcrushers

    Double Warlord Battalion

Chop and change the artefacts obviously but most likely a Crimson Crown for the DP and Ar’gath or Deathdealer for BoIR.

Probably split into two forces with a Bloodsecrator each. Run those Bloodsecrators 6” every turn. Extra CP from battalion if they fail their 4+ CP roll.

Theres lot of interesting strategy now around Bloodthirsters. Not being able to stack multiple Cps is a hard work around that requires lots of planning.

Without BoUF you basically can only send in 1 Bloodthirster at a time. But even with 6” pile in you risk being pulled out of combat by redeploy. I see this being a short range strategy now, where you don’t run, just move to within 3 1/2 to 6” and if they redeploy then you can still charge. Unless you’ve taken Baleful lords of course.

After playing Khorne daemons almost exclusively since the last book, I’m definitely looking forward to experimenting with these new limitations. Everyone’s in the same boat, hopefully we hold up alright.

They said : they cound as batteline except if the battlepack says otherwise .. and the battlepack in the GHB21 says they don't.

Ah ok, that’s disappointing. I wonder why they’ve done that. I don’t have my hands on my GHB yet.

marauders are not battleline, but if you have the space for msu flesh hounds ok. By the way as marauders can't be battleline you can only reinforce once so only 20 marauders maximum per unit

Fortunately they have faqd coalition troops, they can be used as battleline. You’ll notice Marauders will come up as battleline in warscroll builder also. I was worried about this too initially.

  4. Well I’ve gone full commit. Archaon on the way. 40 Marauders nib and 10 chaos knights to play around with in support.

The potential utility of all out def, bronzed flesh and mystic shield from Archaon has got to be the strongest weapon in our tool box. I’m planing to run Reapers with Skarbrand as my other threat. 1 slaughterpriest, bloodsecrator and wrathmongers in support.

I am actually considering Korghos for the first time. As you say his command ability has more value and as its an aura means those units effected can still benefit from All Out Attack etc. The 8" pile in stops Unleash Hell and Finest Hour helps to ensure his axe hits home. He needs more attacks but we have ways to make that happen 🙂

Is this the general consensus regarding command abilities with auras? So we can still combine Rejoice in the slaughter and Leave none alive?

  6. Bloodthirsters are almost done with the cap on 1 CA per phase. Bloodsecrator can’t keep up without gore pilgrims. No more leave none alive in combination with either 6” pile in or tyrants. Can’t attack 3 times in a combat phase with relentless fury. Can’t combine attacks at the start on a 4+ with tyrants.

    Priests take a 66% nerf

    but...

skullreapers with all out attack on themselves is epic, even with the points increase they’re going to be tearing it up all over the board.

as mentioned mighty skullcrushers on a 2+, how good.

daemon prince with the spare CPs to spam blood slick ground constantly.

    Any other silver linings?

  7. From our faq designer commentary

“Q: If a Priest knows more than one prayer, can it attempt to chant each of them?
A: Yes, as long as no other restrictions apply.”

Pretty sure the 1 prayer per phase rule would count as a restriction. Can’t see any way around that.

  8. On the topic of skullreapers, I ran 10 in a bloodmad warband recently and it was insane. Wrathmongers, aspiring deathbringer,  bloodsecrator in support, wiped to fury with killing frenzy on the charge. I had to use bloodtithe movement to get them into position but it was well worth it when they ran through a fresh unit of pink horrors. 31 mortal wounds and 60 saves lol.  They’re just brutal ah. I need more haha.

  9. I’d definitely go with blood sacrifice. I normally run two priests. I used to use killing frenzy and bronzed flesh exclusively but I’ve dropped bronzed flesh for blood sacrifice 6 months ago and never gone back.

I always want to have 6 tithe by the bottom of turn two or top of turn 3. Then youve got it sitting there ready to go incase you need double turn protection. If the priority roll goes against you just use relentless fury. If you don’t need it then you’ve still got some early game summoning you can spend it on.

  10. Hey team, I’m after some clarification on “fights at the start of the combat phase” and Tyrants of blood.

If I fight at the start of the combat phase with a bloodthirster in my turn, does the subsequent chained tyrants attack/s count as my first activation?

@Troll.exe Please make some photos. Such a nice looking army!

Exactly the same feeling about the Dawneider's luckily you only need 5 if you don't want to have more : )

I’ll get some decent photos for the battle. I’ve only got Teclis, 5 Dawnriders, 10 Wardens and tLoE painted so far. Definitely not one of the quicker armies to paint. Models are so good though.

  12. Just finished these off, the struggle is real lol. I’ve got a second box sitting there but I need at least 6 months before I can open it.

Ive got my first battle coming up, just running what I’ve got painted and assembled.

Ill try and bang out a battle report, fingers crossed i don’t forget too much lol.

    Syar

    Teclis

    Cathallar

    TLoE

    2x20 wardens

    20 sentinels

    5 dawnriders

    twin stones

    geminids

Hey guys - so I have been thinking about khorgoraths and how to best emphasize their strengths. Clearly skullfiend tribe is the ideal allegiance to pick but what would you all choose? MSU or blocks of a couple? Skulltake or on their own? Also on a more practical money-centered concern are there any serviceable conversions/proxies? I love the discussions on this topic and would be happy to see what you all think!

Although buffing a unit of two would be nice, MSU is the way to go. Then you get maximum healing and blood tithe. I’ve always been keen to run 6 in some casual games but yea.... money lol.

  14. So I’ve just come across this winning tournament  list

    Syar

    Teclis

    Avelanor

    Cathallar

    -General, total eclipse

    3x10 Wardens

    1x20 Sentinels

    Chronomantic Cogs

    Umbral Spellportal

    Extra command point

    2000 points

The Cogs were a surprise to me. Do you add the +2 to move before you double the movement with Speed of Hysh? Obviously this is relying on keeping those wardens at -2 to hit. Any other insights here? I had a 2500 point list built around the -2 to hit mechanic but I hadn’t really considered trying to fit it in at 2k.

  15. Allegiance: Khorne- Slaughterhost: Flayed (Host of Chaos)

Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut (160)

    - General- Command Trait: Vessel of Butchery- Artefact: The Slaughterhelm

    Slaughterpriest (100)

    - Artefact: The Brazen Rune- Blood Blessing: Blood Sacrifice

    Skarr Bloodwrath (100)

    Bloodstoker (80)

    9 x Mighty Skullcrushers (480)

    - Ensorcelled Axes

    9 x Mighty Skullcrushers (480)

    - Bloodglaives

    3 x Mighty Skullcrushers (160)

    - Bloodglaives

    1 x Riptooth (40)

    3 x Magore's Fiends (80)

    9 x Untamed Beasts (70)

    9 x Untamed Beasts (70)

    Brass Stampede (140)

    Bleeding Icon (40)

    Total: 2000 / 2000

    Extra Command Points: 1

    Allies: 0 / 400

    Wounds: 155

Heres an example of a solid mounted list that came up recently. Basically you’re trying to get one of those units of 9 to a 2+ save using the flayed host. Blood sacrifice magores fiends and riptooth for maximum blood tithe. Use that tithe for hero phase charging/movement to get a hero kill or get into position to charge with a unit of 9. Untamed beasts as a mobile screen with their turn 1 extra movement.

Plenty of wounds on a good save and fairly resistance to being ripped apart by heavy magic/shooting.

I plan on buying the heads of heroes he kills through the campaign and make a little shrine dedicated to his murder.

First of all, this is incredible lol.

In terms of the list, it depends on The points. If it’s 2k I’d look at gore pilgrims, probably 2x10 reavers and 1x5 warriors for battleline requirements. That’ll get you your 2 slaughterpriests and secrator in a single drop too. And personally, and this will probably hurt your soul to paint, I’d go 2x10 knights. As mentioned above you get some serious use out of that command ability from your general.

Probably top up with 40 Marauders and you’ll be about there.

I'm struggling in deciding on unit sizes for battleline. The parts of my list that I've decided are:

    Teclis
    Cathallar + Auralan Legion
    10x Dawnriders

    Then I'm split between:

    2x20 Wardens
    2x10 Sentinels
    VS
    3x10 Wardens
    3x10 Sentinels

I'm leaning towards the latter, but I'm worried that A) blocks of 10 wardens will die to a stiff breeze, B) 30 sentinels is pushing it in terms of keeping it fun for the opponent. On the other hand, with the 20 man blobs, I'm worried that they will be too clunky with Shining Company. Anyone have any experience running either, or have any feelings about the fun factor of 30 sentinels?

I’ve gone for the 20x20 and 2x10 option. Fun factor definitely played a part in that decision. With the bare minimum to get the battalion then you can kind of argue that you did have that in mind.

Also having at least two ranks deep with the wardens with those long spears is just going to look awesome.

My play group being the way it is I’ll add more sentinels for the odd game but I’d rather not run a list that I would take no pleasure facing, as my standard lol.

    This the way.

Having said that, I've had good success with only 3 chars + Wrathmongers + Shrine + going heavy on units that buff themselves. This was after an emotional breakdown from shooting armies pinging my support chars off the table repeatedly...

This hits close to home lol. I definitely feel ya

Speculation times - best of times. So according to the WarCom Broken Realms article, Morathi's antics led to

      Reveal hidden contents

powerful aelf souls escaping from Slaanesh. Nothing says that they have any connection to the Lumineth, some could be corrupted (which seems likely for the most powerful one) etc. But, it could also be a great opportunity for GW to bring back yet another HE (or other elf) character from Warhammer Fantasy, and add a hero model to the Lumineth during Broken Realms. Would we want that? And if so who? For example

    - the always popular Imrik? With an even more popular fitting mount?

    - Alith Anar would likely want to have a word with Morathi (but then she'd be his savior in a way, awkward)

    - Korhil?

    - For me personally, of course, Caledor Dragontamer : )

    - or maybe a "redeemed" former opponent, especially someone who doesn't like Morathi? And could bring a female option to the HE (there was a certain hag queen for example... )

    - or maybe a special unit of powerful unit. As something like the White Tower is coming back....

    - and many more

    - or,  we have enough of this, let's invent new heroes!

I’m actually wondering who’s going to get the next narrative book? Teclis? Tyrion? Malerion?

Maybe Death will enter the narrative? Or the Orks?

Hi i build Brass stampede list i have Jagger lord 9x crushers 9x crushers 3x crushers i need some fast screen units

As well as the great options @Salyx has covered, Untamed Beasts are a good option. 12” move in the first turn plus run and charge. Plenty of options if you have a Bloodstoker in your lineup.

I just started with Teclis, and I can imagine it was a bit of a battle. Congrats!!  And well done. I'm thinking about a lighter colored Celennar too. How far are you now into 2,000? And what' the list you are aiming for?

Good luck 👌 fairly enjoyable model to paint I found. I’ve just got 10 wardens, Teclis and TLoE finished. 30 more wardens, 10 dawnriders, 20 sentinels, a Cathallar and  Avalenor to go. Still playing round with lists. Feels like the stoneguard battalion with Avalenor is just such a solid combo but it’s all about the aesthetic at this point lol.
