Guys if I got 2 heroes in reserve, can I use 2  of our special "heroic actions" if they are different? Or its considered like one heroic action more, so I can use just one more of them? Thx a lot

You can only ever use one Ritual of Ruin action from off the board in your hero phase.

I think they missed out on making Bestigors feel "truly elite" by not giving them the Elite rule heh. I like the idea of them interacting when command points are being spent on orders, but this current version seems more like a half thought through beta test of what it could and should actually be for the unit to have a proper place while being fun.

My TLDR interpretation of their abilities would be: Despoilers - "when a unit within 6" of this unit (Bestigors) receives a Order, this unit gains +1 attack up to max of 1 for that turn."

Remove the second ability and instead give them the Elite special rule.

Drop them to 180-200 points and go have some well deserved fun.

In this way you would have a self sufficient unit that is no longer reliant just on the enemy orders but can pop their own if need to be, and become a grindy anvil or almost as choppy unit like Tzaangors.

Sadly Warscrolls dont change in between books (or a miracle redraw of the unit happens), so the best we can hope for now is them dropping to 160, where with the current rules they might at least be considered viable. (since Tzaans are at 170).

You realize that elite is only for units that don't have a unit champion. Any unit with a champion can have that champion issue orders to their unit.

Well when I comes to model release, GW is not exactly fair or partial to who get what usually. Expectation is that certain armies just get more then other or get more consistently. There sort of a hierarchy to the armies when it comes to releases

in my mind the hierarchy of armies would go like this

Posterboy tier: self explanatory, Space marines and Stormcast are usually guaranteed to get stuff every edition

the Flavor of the Month good guy army: the Imperium/ Order armies tend to get more and they usually give focus to one of these armies in the short term but it rotates sometimes. For 40K it was Admech last round, current it sister of battle, in the future it maybe the new Legion of Votann. AoS it currently LRL but it may shift to Dawnbringer in the future.

well known core armies, usually the recognisable popular armies in the IP that are not part of the two category above. These armies usually have good chances of getting model every edition but a bit less frequent(3-6 year range) CSM, Orks, and maybe Eldar would fall here. AoS it harder to say outside of Slaves to darkness and maybe Khorne

everyone else: armies that are 6-9+ Year range for a big refresh. Example would be like Grey Knights and Tyranids. Some armies who had a big refresh like Necrons may not be sure next one would be either

There is also the special perks to the edition villain. This is currently Ork/Cruel Boyz for AoS and Necrons for 40k. They will, for about the duration of the edition, get special treatment. I am talking about limited edition sculps and special consideration in spinoff/box games.

If anyone saw Tyler Mengal's tweet today he compares the Dirgehorn Endless spell to one in the Rumour picture as quite close.  I find it weird if BoC got a book after a WD release that gave them a significant boost.

Don't read to much into the rumor mill picture. Unless they are doing a special event, it can take be anything from 6 months to 2 years before we get a payoff for a rumor mill picture.

Anyone else not had their Thondia book arrive? I preordered it but it's not come yet. I imagine Easter probably got in the way.

For those who have it and have looked through it, how is Anvil of Apotheosis?

New Anvil of Apotheosis is basically the old Anvil of Apotheosis with very very few and minor changes to make it more compatible to the new addition.

The IDK battletome mentions some sea dwelling sylvaneth including dryads. Is this the controversial expansion of sylvaneth?

I expect that it is just some lore building. There is similar mention of aquatic beastmen in the Beast of Chaos tome who are mix of fish and sharks. I don't think they will pop up as a whole unit but I could see them appear as some kind of underworlds team.

This guy 100% wants to be on the board turn 1 to get as many pulls on his slot machine as possible. His ability already coms into effect quite late on average, with it cumulatively being more likely to trigger than not only by turn 4. If you are playing the odds, that's a hard sell because you definitely want to remove the support heroes that are his most likely targets earlier than that if possible.

I actually think this guy is better used against larger targets. A target that can actually survive 2D6 mortal wounds would give you more chances play his slot machine. If you pick off a small target, congratulations, now you have to waist an entire turn just to pick a new target. If you pick that 5 wound wizard turn one chances are this guy wont hit until turn 3 if your lucky. Then turn 4 you get to pick another one and turn 5 you might kill a second wizard. Pick something with more wounds and you get more spins. At least that's how I would use this guy.

  8. Its important to remember that crushers have an advantage to paired when it comes to bonus attacks. It you prefer to play Gavespawn it might be better to have crushers in that case.

Glaives by far are the worse option currently. Though I wouldn't rule them out completely. While I would never take a full unit of them I find having one for every 3 be a Glaive to be useful. I always found the extra rend and reach to be helpful.

    wow quiet thread.

Another guy in a tournament did well~ish with BoC last weekend.  I couldn't find his list though.  He did win best painted but they were average so I assume it was curb appeal, the painting competition and novelty of seeing goats.

Well honestly I don't see how we don't win every "best painted". Thou I may be bias.

I am wondering if the lightning in the new warband icon refers to frankenstein necromancers or skaven. If it was skaven it would be green i think but u never know. (Or stormcast but they already have a warband)

To be fair Underworlds has a few Stormcast Warbands... so what's one more.

Its a joke GW. Please no more Stormcasts.

  11. I would like for them to, at the very least, fix the costs for the Primordial Call Points.

I could also see something like mount traits but for monsters, or special Monstrous Rampage actions.

Though with are luck they will decide that the Herdstone's abilities are to strong and half it ranges.

The cost is the opportunity cost. If nothing else, it forces you into 4-drop minimum, which I think is a pretty big deal. I actually think the decision of whether to minimise drops or go for extra enhancements or rampage immunity is pretty interesting.

I will admit that there is a cost when trying to minimize drops but that same cost isn't there between enhancements and rampage immunity.

GW is notoriously bad at providing any type of timetable/release schedule for any of their stuff. It always appears to be a rough approximation of "we're working on A, B, and C, and you might see them sometime, um. soon?" Its an annoying relic of a business model of ages past, before age of instant information and gratification. These days I try not to stress about it, and take it in stride. If I miss the release of some small plastic army men, its not going to kill me. And heck, I might actually have to go paint some of the last ones I bought that are still covered in dust! :)

I must say, worldwide shutdowns and quarantines have done wonders to getting my backlog painted! Now If I could only leave the house for a game....  😜

Except I am sure that there are members of this board that would kill for some AOS news that was just, "we're working on A, B, and C, and you might see them sometime, um. soon?"
