would you reckon that Belladama's exploding 6 spell stacks with the vargheists ability? Because i was considering putting out the coven throne (so exponsive, yikes) for her and some more vargheists

So, skeletons.
Good:
5+ save.
When picked to fight, roll a die for each model of this unit that died this phase. On a 4+, regenerate a model.
Bad:
Nonexistent damage output
Lost musician rules
NOOOOOO, THE DOOOOOOOOOOOT TT_TT

If only our Queen could provide -1 to hit in general for all that filthy shooting 😅
yeah, that is the SBGL book for you
oh well, she is pretty cool anyway -

You sure it's not enemy units within 12"? That's how it currently works.
I'm not hearing anything to make her more survivable.
well, she is 3+ save now so it is a bit better. Also the CA says roughly "untill your next hero phase subtract 1 from rolls to hit from enemy melee weapons that have as a target soulblight gravelords units within 12" of this model".
This plus her spell and how durable skellies are tell me that LoB is the defensive faction- 2
-
so skeletons do very little damage but are an absoulte donkey to kill entirely. Interesting, definetly objective holders more than anything but they can have a place.
Neferata is fairly interesting. Hits rather hard, the dagger now murders on 5+ (ouch) and she gets d6 wound back by killing stuff, very nice. The spell was slightly nerfed but is still very good anyway. The real banger here is the CA, it is amazing. Every friendly unit within (not wholly unless i am failing at spanish) 12" gets -1 to be hit in general! This can make your army very tough when combined with other buffs so i would say that she is nice within expectations,
Those changes makes me think that LoB went from being the aggressive faction to be the defensive one? Very interesting -

But I was talking about Vhordrai (that doens't have the keyword, see post above mine) or any other Hero that already has Vampire Lord keyword (as Radukar or the other wolf-dudes) but they are not called Vampire Lord.
yes, i was just specifying

I think that Vampire Lord is not bolded in the battalion.
true but as of faq you can ignore subtitles like "on a horse" in the warscrolls. It just happens that VLoZD has the "on zombie dragon" as a subtext and thus avaiable for the battalion
-
yeah, black knights are sad. I wish they kept the lance thing

So... Did I miss something? Is there a way to make a deathrattle unit fight in the hero phase (simmilar to Ironjawz Mighty Destroyers)? Because reading the Wight King's command ability, it activates in the hero phase and lasts until the end of that phase only, making it useless under the current rules. SO I guess its a typo OR its referencing a new game mechanic from upcoming third edition?
99% typo, it was probably meant to be used in the combat phase

You sure about those 20 points?
Kastelai bloodline
2x vengorian lords 2*280 =560
coven throne 310 +560=870
4x5 bloodknights 4*195= 790+870=1650
3 vargheists 155+1650=1805
10 dire wolves 135+1805=1940
extra CP 50+1940= 1990
prismatic palisadeThat is 2185 even without the palisade
or is it

Your list is about 200 points over as is, but I like the idea.
...that is just plain unfair, i was only 20 points over <.<
gonna remove the palisade, not going to use it much with such a fast army anyway -
So here's my first list attempt, this is mostly a fun one more than anything else
Kastelai bloodline
2x vengorian lords
coven throne
4x5 bloodknights
3 vargheists
10 dire wolves
extra CP
prismatic palisade
2k points total
i am a bit undecided for relics (the sword, fragment and the shard are very cool, very undecided, opinions?) but the trait is going to be rousing commander -

Hilariously, you cannot double proc the invo spell since it is neither a lore of vampires or deathmages spell.
LOL. Well im fairly sure it will be errata'd

Maybe, but which ones do I want going off twice?
- Blades of Shyish? Maybe, but I still have to roll a 5+ just to get a single MW
yes, the spell is pretty damn bad, on average you need to be witin 6 units to get 2MW or 3 units if you get a double proc. If you get in the middle of a lot of MSU and get a double proc then nice but otherwishe meh- Spirit Gale? Probably... except for anything above LD7, at which point it's most likely doing very little. Still, probably the best. it will hurt 7 or less bravery quite hard, there are quite a number of units like that
- Soul Spike? I GUESS? Still need to roll a 4+ each time and if it is a short charge, it does laughably little.
well yes but on two units it can get some value- Pinions? Expclicitly does nothing on the double cast. true but the spell is pretty good already
- Vile Transference? I want to forget this spell exists. this spell is very weird, you are right
- Orb? Now we cooking. Need to be a bit too close, but tasty as you said, this will hurt
Honestly, I just don't care about these spells in the slightest.
so 3 and good spells and an ok one out of 6, not good but not bad either. Personally i am not planning on using more than 3 vampire heroes so this is all i need really
also invigorating aura is there, while not easy to pull off it usually will be a double proc wich is nice.
Unrelated but not really, can we now get a Soulblight gravelord strategy thread since we mostly have rules? -
Just now, FeralMulan said:
Agreed, the only use I see for it is hiding them from a heavy shooting army with low drops.
Not much of a consolation price, but there it is.
those are a big hit in the meta though, i am not complaining

Someone help me because I always mess this up. What buffs do or do not have an effect on the mounts?
- Spells do
- Command abilities... don't?
- Relics don't
- Do Command Traits? Do faction abilities?that ability is specifically not for mounts but usually only relics and command traits do not affect mounts.
On another note I also wish to point out that while yes, vampire spells are mostly a bit underhwelming, they will proc twice 30% of the times so we are not that bad in that regard. You may as well consider that something that deals D3MW actually deals D4 or something like that -
just noticed that the coven throne can become a rather decent melee in a kastelai army if it manages to kill something or use the incredible rousing commander trait

Most of our big heroes seem good, actually. That's an area where we have nothing to complain about, at least. It's just the small heroes who all seem kinda bad. I'm especially sad that Kritza and Annika have basically nothing to offer. Just bad-for-their-points damage.
except the palanquin, that straight sucks (eh eh)

Wow, some of y'all think our book is like Beast of Chaos. I pretty much only play in tournaments and can tell you right now that this book has some play. Yes certain things got nerfted but other things got buffed. Soulblight Gravelords isn't S Tier, probably fat middle which is completely OK and I'm find with that. I get the desire to want to play Soulblight Gravelords like the old LoN book of just drowning your opponent in models that keep coming back, but honestly (in my opinion) that was a super boring way to play. Before you claim this is a trash book and isn't competitive just wait to play it. I personally have a game lined up with a buddy early next week now that we have the rules leaked I can play Gravelords, then the second Saturday in June I'll be taking Gravelords to a tournament. As of right now and having seen like 90% of the book, I am confident that this book can win and do decently well in tournaments, but it is going to take work to do so which is what I prefer.
Also, one last closing thought. Based on a lot of the rules and way things are written it is obvious that there are some things that are going to change in 3.0.
i ran out of reactions so i wish to say that i compleatly agree with you and i wish to be your squire.

one thing i must admit though: the blood palanquin is still pretty trash. Good thing the coven throne('s banger CA) exists (2+,2+ D3 and 2+ save bloodknights, lol)

The only things I find really strange is mounted vampire lord being gone and Grave guard staying with an old kit when the new skegs look more elite than they do.
Everything else I'm pretty happy with, wich is weird as I spent most of my time before we had any info doom mongering, whereas now a lot of people who were optimistic beforehand are rubbishing it. I blame Tzeentch!
DANG YOU TZEENTZCH YOU CHEATY WEENIE
yeah i have gripes with that too, on the other hand shield GG are pretty cool now
