  1. So for the past several months I have been working on a custom Vampire Khorne Army (Vampire Chaos Lord on Karkadrak, Vampire Chaos Lord on foot, Vampire Chaos Knights, etc) and my latest creation will serve "officially" as a  Vampire Chaos Lord on Manticore. However for games where I can use Anvil of Apotheosis Heroes, then this will be "Duntov Von Corvent on Corvaul" I am still working on the base but the model itself is nearly complete.

This sounds like an awesome project.  45 hours in means you’ve built something fun.  Thats not always easy with hybrid rulesets

Im in Korea.  So, just about as far away from Texas as possible :(  Would you consider sharing your rules?  I’d love to have a look through.

    Shooting you a PM.

Looking at the new warcry catacombs, i suddenly realised how much id like a new AOS dungeon crawler.   Blackstone doesnt tick my boxes unfortunately.

Have there been any rumors of a AOS Warhammer Quest?  i know it may be a while yet, but any theories when we may see one?

You don't happen to be live in Houston, TX do you? Back at the start of COVID, I spent a few weeks writing the rules for a hybrid game between AoS and D&D. Basically AoS rules but each player controls one custom Hero that they outfit similar to D&D. I brought in a lot of D&D stats and stuff into the game as well. But we still follow the traditional Hero, Movement, Shooting, Charge, Combat phase of AoS. The main thing is, a few of my friends are super casual AoS players, so we still use a lot of the AoS rules that they're familiar with but we're playing a story driven cooperative game. My buddies and I are 45+ hours into a campaign and so far we've been loving it.

I don’t know, when I think vampires I also think flying units like the Vargheists and the lesser bats...

Throw them in too! Just like how Soulblight have them now. If they did a full Battletome it would be cool to see multiple different Bloodlines like someone else mentioned. These could be like the Slaughterhosts for Khorne, Glades for Sylvaneth or the Cities in Cities of Sigmar. Each Bloodline has a theme. So you could have your Beast Vampires, your Noble / Regal Vampires, Pirate Vampires?, etc etc. Or if you don't take a specific Bloodline then you can make your own (allowing you to pick command traits, artefacts, etc).

I've said it before, I'll say it again, a sort of re imagined Not!Bretonnia in vein (heh) of heavily armoured, shock cavalry vampires supported by a chaff of mortal infantry would be my dream. Stick Abhorash in there to complete the theme.

I fully support this. The chaff could be some sort of thrall. I also wouldn't mind seeing Vampire infantry on foot. I always thought the Dark Elf Executioners could make cool Vampire Infantry models. Kind of reminds me of the Vampire soldiers from Underworld Rise of the Lycans.

A Soulblight army in time for Halloween would be amazing. It's really one of the last armies that needs a refresh (non-competitive armies not withstanding). If they do it I really hope they give it the full AoS treatment. I like nods to the old world, but a Medieval Transylvania style army would feel out of place in AoS. I'd love some really crazy new vampires that run the gamut from AoS versions of the classical aristocrats to truly monstrous abominations that play off older models like the Varghulf.

Sure hope a full blown Soulblight / Vampire army happens and sooner rather than later. Then I can use all of my Vampire / Khorne kitbashed models in a proper Vampire army.

However, if a new Soulblight / Vampire army comes out with their own book, I'm curious how they would treat the existing Soulblight / Vampire models that are in LoN. Does this new book absorb the old models, kind of like how Spirit Hosts, Hexwraiths and some other Nighthaunt are cross book units. That's probably the easiest way to do it and make all of the new Soulblight / Vampires available allies to LoN. The thing is, if they decide to move away from the current theme of Soulblight / Vampires (transylvania style vampires) then maybe they are like OBR, where they're dramatically different and do not get along with the current Soulblight / Vampire and thus cannot ally with them. This would be a possible way to have the current Legion of Blood & Soulblight factions coexist with this new one. If they move away from the Transylvania style Vampire, then I think the obviously alternative would be Vampire Coast like in Warhammer Total War.

LOL. You ever met one? Miserable ****** never happier than when they’re whining about one thing or another. Right now there’s large sections of the 40k community throwing a ******-fit because the intro text (all the blah blah blah emperor sits on his carrion throne blah blah blah) has been slightly modified and because they’ve been told that if they’re racists they might not be nice people. It’ll take more than a few community articles tickling their bellies to put a smile on their faces.

It must be a  global phenomenon, because 40k players here in Texas (USA) have the same stereotype that you just described, lol.

  8. I use a block of 15 Chaos Warriors (hand weapon and rune shield) as a very strong "hold the line" unit. Backed by a warshrine. 4+ save (or 3+ if I decide to put Bronzed Flesh on them) re-rolling everything (unit size) is amazing. Plus mortal wound protection from shields and warshrine shurg for non mortals makes them super beefy. I've also used a Chaos Lord on Manticore with Lance and Daemon Blade, take him in Bloodlords and give him Halo of Blood and Slaughterer's Thirst. Now he's moving at 16", re-rolling charges and fighting at the start of the combat phase. Backed by a warshrine and/or bloodstoker and things really spicy.

Do you mind sharing? But seriously, where the hell are the vampires? They’re mentioned in lore as much as Chaos dwarfs but still no new models!

Sure. Here's where I'm at so far. Probably 85% complete painting it. Need to do some clean up, etc. Also here's a picture of Vampire Lord (that I use as a proxy for my Chaos Lord on foot). Lighting isn't perfect, lots of reflection here but you get the idea.

Me too! I need my Vampires! Until then I'll keep playing my Vampire themed Khorne Army. Just finished kit bashing my Vampire Lord on Karkadrak.

I'm just glad it's not like that at the small local tournaments I play in the US. I've bough all my books on the app for my phone, and wouldn't be able to print if I wanted.

Yeah down here in Texas several of our TOs have basically said, if it's got a pitched battle profile and points then use it.

If we get any clarity on the White Dwarf battalions, it will be in the general GHB2020 FAQ as this is an issue that affects all armies that have received White Dwarf battalions.

I was just re-reading the GHB2020, and it states, "With the exception of Legends units, only units that are included in this book or that have a later publication date can be used in a Pitched Battle game without your opponent's consent."

I emphasized the word units, as warscroll battalions are not units. I'm not playing competitively anytime soon, but until I see something that states otherwise, I'm going to assume that the White Dwarf battalions are still fair game.

Yeah, this RAW is why our TOs are saying the WD battalions among some other things are OK.

Guys maybe were just a few hours short of an update but so far it appears NH aInt gettin any update as almost all newer factions are updated already. So where does that leave our WD battalions?

Up to interpretation to the TO. In my local gaming group (which is huge) Two different TOs said that if a battalion has a pitched battle profile and is comprised of "legal units" that aren't sent to Legends or something similar, then you can use it.

Man I so want that to be true.. If Soulblight is on its way Ill be one happy, but broke, camper. Honestly don’t care much for vampires but a full fledged Soulblight army means ZOMBIES Deadwalkers or whatever. Im Really seriously supercallafra... something looking forward to see GWs take on zombies. The few corpse bits and zombies pulling the Corpsekart is just a tease of how awesome a new bunch of zombies would be. I’ll build that messy army in an instant, even if it had to be lead by some boring, slickhaired Twilligt Clone.

Yup if there's a Vampire faction, I'm going all in!

I think I speak for all Nighthaunt players when I say we are very much looking forward to that FAQ. Not because of our points but because we might loose some of the only descent aggressive battalions we got just six month ago. In addition we might also loose the option to play Legion of Grief. Nothing indicates how GW are going to handle these and as you hopefully agree the Nighthaunt is in a very tight spot already we seriously do not need to loose some of the few tools we have that occasionally works. Not looking for sympathy here but GW guys seriously.. Wtf are you doing?

Warscroll builder was updated today and includes the NH battalions from White Dwarf, so I would assume those are usable still despite not being in GHB 2020, otherwise I do not know why they would update Warscroll builder with those battalions and their points.

What about the battalions from the dual army boxes that had points but were made not legal after the GHB release (Carrion Empire, Looncurse, Feast Of Bones, Atherwar, Wrath & Rupture)

it seems that gw don’t like ‘limited’ availability items being allowed in matched play due to some perceived belief that it’s ‘unfair’ or a disadvantage that not everyone can access it

The organization that I compete in (The Texas Masters) has deemed some of those battalions legal for matched play since they have matched play points, are comprised of still valid and legal units and haven't been specifically called out by GW as being invalid. An exception would be Khorne's "The Gorechosen" since that is comprised of 8 Heroes which is more than the max number if Heroes you can bring.

So I think those Battalions from dual army box sets and from White Dwarf are up for interpretation to the TO / Organization (assuming they have matched play points).
