open up the Lumineth for Phoenixes and some more Tyrionic units. Plus it means Lumineth will probably have some rules in DB6.

dearly hoping it puts some aelven units in COS too!!!

Wish I got these. I tried to subscribe to the Stormcast/ Skaven newsletters but just get "Oops something went wrong"

i got a confirmation that my Stormcast sign up worked, but i've received zero Warhammer emails today... not sure why this would only be skaven?

Maybe the Black Tower was just what we've called 'Monasteries'?

I doubt it, as there's already text that talks about the off-duty places Stormcast use for rest and relaxation?

I'm thinking tall and ominous Black Tower, probably with that obsidian-sheen to it, that just releases a swarm of lightning gheists out of all sides when needed.

This looks like cash grab mobile game art. I know it's not but geez is that a step-down in art quality.

in a way i guess? but i like how vibrant the art is MUCH MORE than the dreary, muted colors Warhammer insists on giving everything. definitely unfair to say this is a step down in quality when we can actually see all of the details the artist(s) painstakingly put in...

the Skaven still look just as creepy as they're supposed to be, animalistic and frenetic. and the Stormcast have this cool juxtaposition between being colored like determined heroes while their armor gives them a more inhuman look.

like look at this spittle?? the subtle bloodied jawline?? these would be impossible to see with the "moody Warhammer filter"

Im kind off miff the Ruination chamber is basically of now this meme

Of course they only shown off just 4 models (and 2 leaked) so maybe there still something  in the work

everyone needs to chill out about the trailer IMHO.

we've seen the most stable veterans of the Ruination Chamber, coming out of retirement from monasteries. We have not seen the Stormcast being kept inside those Black Towers that Ionus is helping with.

the properly F'd up Ruination Chamber may only come after the launch box, which I'm fine with waiting for.

We don't really need Judicators since their bow build was soft replaced by Vigilors and their crossbow version is kinda represented by Vanguard Raptors. The only point against them going away I can see is that we have a Knight-Judicator (Which already surprised me back when he was revealed)

Judicators definitely still have a place as full ranged support. Vigilors are melee-ranged hybrid skirmishers, and they buff other ranged units. i'm thinking like this:

    Knight-Judicator

    1x judis

    1x vigilors

Sounds like the perfect ranged detachment/regiment to me! Judicators are more like siegebows than regular longbows. Vigilor arrows aren't nearly as large as Judis'.

the three Paladin flavors which could be getting replaced by the Ruinators and the Prosecutors which are getting replaced.
The Dracothian Guard and Stardrakes are the only ones without a replacement. Stormdrake Guard are kinda the spiritual successor to the Dracothian Guard,

these I agree are absolutely more up in the air than the battleline units. out of all the paladins, I can see Protectors staying since they have giant glaives and are specifically anti-monster.

The overall consensus in the Spanish wiki is that it would be a new non-named city created purely for the plot, like Forjaglymm or Amberstone.

i could also see that, since hopefully GW doesn't want to destroy TOO much. the area i circled touches Hammerhal, Embergard, Anvilgard, and Hallowheart--so it gives GW the room to include enough Cities to feel like a major threat, instead of an impossible tidal wave against 1-2 cities.

Without knowing the actual lore, I like the idea of Ruination members being brought out of retirement because of the extraordinarily desperate situation, rather than them being used as Death Company-style go-out-with-a-bang warriors as the default. It feels like a subtle difference between traditional grimdark ("Stormcast are reforged so many times, eventually they go mad") and a more humane, but equally tragic setup ("Stormcast are eventually retired under mostly dignified circumstances, but war demands that they go back to fighting.")

i do hope your idea of them retiring to become administrators and warrior-poets has some merit!!! that would be such a great thing to do with old stormcast

Also more interestingly, just noticed that some Annihilators are present and in a rough scale to the new elite units the trailers main lady is from - who are presumably ruination version Retributors (insert new paladin name here). The sun/comet trail collar is very reminiscent of them also.

this is a great catch on both accounts, the newsletter art of this raven thing looks like 2 legs!

Oh Sigmar is no saint, I have never claimed that. But an insecure abusive maniac? He created a pantheon of gods with rather diverse views and goals, which is hardly the action of a megalomaniacal control freak. His most questionable acts are generally done to stop the advances of a cause that wishes to destroy everything and embody the very worst aspects of existence (war, hate, despair, disease, sadism, etc), they are not done out of a desire to cause pain to others (by which I mean innocents, rather than said embodiments of destruction who invaded a relatively peaceful reality), and intent matters. Also he likely would have done nothing nearly as unethical if his back was not put against the wall (I would argue that in a situation where your survival was at stake you would do some pretty shady things to get out of it, as would anyone).

I find it curious that you seem to regard Sigmar as badly or worse than the Chaos Gods, because he believes he is doing the right thing - which overall he is trying to do, even if his methods are highly questionable.

i dont have any more reacts but +2 to this. Sigmar is a God-King, not King of the Gods like Odin or Zeus. he has some measure of regret for his choices, which were done to save Order. he allied with Gorkamorka and even went against his better judgement to release Nagash for help in saving mortals. he thinks the Stormcast should have wants beyond his own goals. he wants his Stormcast to retain their humanity.

like again, the Ruination stormcast are introduced as having been retired in monasteries before the Skaven arrived. he's supposed to be flawed, but those flaws don't make him Fantasy The Emperor. Gotta think of him more like Gilgamesh.

It's quite possible that whilst the Stormcast know about the perils of reforging in general, actually experiencing it in yourself and in those around you is a lot more traumatic. It could also be that how much is lost in reforging is much more significant than they might have thought.

Losing some memories might seem like a fair price to pay for power to fight back when your world is ending, but when all you have left of your former life is memories that price becomes much steeper

yeah tbh there's also a big possibility Sigmar and the Six Smiths didnt even know what exactly would happen over hundreds of deaths, so when these old veterans get to that point of course it would feel like he lied to them

Whilst yes, it is not the most ethical recruitment policy, ones morals tend to go by the wayside when one is desperate. Most of the Realms fell to Chaos and there was little anyone could do about it, and Sigmar has personally seen the consequences of Chaos winning before. Endless terror, ruination and torture by evil eldrich gods in which one's only hope is to join with one of the invaders and become part of the host destroying everything makes doing something pretty atrocious in order to resist said horror seem pretty small potatoes.

I think that Sigmar's actions are ultimately justifiable. Not good, in fact quite horrible, but asking beforehand risks reducing the army you need to fight the literal hordes of hell - indeed given the souls need to be stolen from the god of Death it might not even be possible to ask consent, though might be wrong on that one. That said if the situation was different, and this was peacetime or at least far less desparate Sigmar would be almost as much a villain of the narrative as Nagash.

also TBQH does the consent even matter if Nagash is going to abuse and torture those souls anyway? it seems like becoming a Stormcast is the better choice since you can protect your family and city/culture in some way instead of being enslaved to Nagash.

    Pretty good reveal show.

Not a huge fan of the Flagellant warband , but still nice to have some new Devoted. I might try covering up the priest's robes so that the guy underneath isn't visible, as that's probably my main gripe with them.

    As for 4.0...

Which 1/3 of the Parch are we thinking is going under?

hey uhh what if Edassa is the one that falls? if Hammerhal is under attack this feels like where the third might be image.png.51a5981eed4baf516eb36f4a83394792.png

Sounds like it's everywhere, but focused on the Great Parch.

hoping this means we see updated maps of more of the Realms? i'm not really a stickler over precise land maps, but even something akin to the 1e fantasy maps they did would be wonderful

    I'm claiming a win.

From the trailer: "Sigmar lied. He never told us the true cost of this honour. Soon, all that will remain of me is an echo. Lost to the storm. But until that day...I fight. "

So from this, SCE seem to still see reforging as a honour, despite their eventual demise, and gladly pay this price. The "lie", is just a lie of omission.

I will say my theory made a lot of people say they dislike this direction that SCE were going, or say they thought it made them less interesting.

My view is that this change makes them more interesting, grants them more humanity in a way. They now "know" that they have a limited number of reforgings. Sure, they have more deaths than a normal human, but this change reintroduces risk/stakes to their personal stories. I love SCE, but their novels/short stories didn't excite me. I now can't wait to read about the new chamber, its members and how this new lore affects the standard SCE.

Can't wait to read your thoughts on this. Especially you lore masters.

it's still a flaw in the magical process though. i do agree that Stormcast more-explicitly knowing the cost of their immortality makes them more interesting, and it's more of a lie of omission/the honor isn't so exciting.

what was also so exciting for me is the way these veterans are described, they've been allowed to rest in retirement homes (monasteries) before things became so dire that they had to be called back.

  14. I'm not a fan of how the Ruination elites' shoulderpads are looking more like Marine-pads than other Thunderstrike, but overall I'm happy with the trailer and the Chamber opening. Hallowed Knights are my favorite, silver looks better than all gold armor, so I'M READY!!!

my guess is that these "normal looking" Stormcast are the elites that still look Human, and the other Ruination kits are going to devolve further into the worst parts of the Flaw.

John Blanche is ridiculously overrated. There. I said it.

a better way of saying this might be "i appreciate his personal artstyle, but Warhammer relying on it for all of their IPs is a crutch they can only hold onto for so long"

I only got into AoS a couple months ago, I really hope they reveal whether they index or not because I want to know if it is safe to buy the battletome for my faction or to wait.

it does not matter when in the edition you join, the rules for buying battletomes remain the same at all times:

do you want it for the art, the painting guides, and the lore? then buy it. if you only want it for the rules, don't bother.

Book prices have been steadily going up while QC has been going down, on top of too many day 1 (or month 3) FAQs being needed.

I guess all these BS and BoC concerns are quite wide and not something just from this forum, right? If so, it wouldn't surprise me that someone asked about it during the Adepticon Q&A session, so we could have an answer quite soon.

that's if the Q&A even ends up online... we never got a rundown of AOS's session for last year's Warhammerfest I think it was

This look awesome, I don't why but the whole helmet is just add a little more to the

so I'm still wondering if they going to show off the box with all these leaks because at this rate might as well especially since the trailer going to spoil the units might as well

i think a trailer for 4e is guaranteed. if the whole box isn't shown, i'm expecting new liberator and new clanrats/stormvermin being revealed first
