  1. I've been looking at models and units to run and how to change up my local meta. I've seen plenty t of talk on here about people using birds to screen for them, but then I got an idea. If you're not using vanguard hunters (either) or using an anvilstrike list, why not use a couple units of Prosecutors to screen? They have great movement to be able to shove their way in front of an incoming charge, their charge is an 18" radius, a great range for denial, and they can deal a bit more damage and have more damage than birds. Only downside I see is yes, they do cost 50 points more and have the same wounds as birds as well as unit size. But damage characteristics might just be what can make a list with them as a screen.  What do you guys think?

Well yeah, Pennant of the Stormbringer. I think it's almost a must take with Gav, since it lets you buff up your Sequitors on the ground and then drop them wherever you feel like on the board to work with Gavriel. And he also gives those rerolls, so you can all but guarantee a charge even by using 2 CP on the drop, a 3" rerollable is very hard to prevent.

Translocation can be used multiple times - but the wholly within 9" restriction is very hard to use once you've charged off. If you save the Vex banner and use it later in the game for a relocate, you can get Evos or Sequitors (who are quite slow) into prime charge position, which can swing the game. Translocation is great for shooting units that you just want to shuffle around and stick near in your backfield (aka Longstrikes), but once you spread out it loses its edge.

Who would you keep up in reserve in this list? Gav with the evos or seqs? Or just one of the units?

I've never played or have seen a gav list run before so I'm not sure how the strategy works with the list

  3. I have gotten a few heroes and other units now so here's an updated list for my Cleansing Phalanx list:

Arcanum on Gryph (general, God blade)

    Lord Relictor (spell:translocation)

    Knight Heraldor

    Lord Castellant

    BATTLELINE:

    1x10 Sequitors

    2x5 Sequutors

    OTHER

    2x5 Evocators

    2x5 Retributos

So I'm hoping to be able to use the retributors as scary screens. Nobody that I've seen uses paladins anymore in my meta, so they won't expect these models to pop out and help screen objectives or evocator units and hopefully back off a bit.

I was debating between a Vexillar and the Relictor, I have both so what is your guess opinion on them both?

The 10 block of seqs I want to use as the main push for the army supported by the heroldar and castellant with the two heroes going back to objectives for support as needed. With arcanum, I can guarantee an empower going off on the 10 block per round for the price of a command point.

    Thoughts?

  4. Had my game last night with my cleansing phalanx list against the foes DoK, needless to say, I got my ass handed to me in to me...

We played Dagger to the Heart (I believe), field was diagonal and there was one objective on each opponent's side, the objective being to gain control of the other opponents objective marker while painting hold on your own to win.

Keeping my 3 ballistas in the air, I spread my sequitors and evocators out along with an incantor between blocks and the arcanum in the middle. First round I went first, failing all my empowers but managing azeryte halo on a block of seqs, I moved my troops to the right side of the board to try and swarm while I dropped my ballistas on top of terrain on the left side of my field. Both of these I found to be huge mistakes as soon as the end of the 1st battle round. I fired amazingly with my ballistas tha k to ordinator demolitioning the majority of a 30 block of aelves (I believe).

He Began his turn buffing, I managed to dispel 1 but failed the others. He moved harpies to the left flank towards my ballista, a 20 block of them, and the rest of his units including judicator allies towards the center where we engaged and I finished off the rest of his 30 block and lost a few sequitors and 1 evocator.

I won next round and kept moving my troops up and to the left, leaving a giant hole straight to my objective marker..... I set up seqs and evos to screen on the right side and use the ballistas against the judicators. This turn was useless, few ballista hits and I managed to do nothing.

With his turn, he buffed his unit of harpies insanely and I was unable to dispel anything. He rushed them to my marker and took the game immediately...

WHAT I REALISED. I thought to hard on setting up a defense onto my side of the field that I wasn't even thinking of defending the marker itself... Also, it was mentioned to focus his hags first and I completely failed to do so, those models being on 28 ml. Bases made it hard to discern them out and he was smart enough to put them next to a unit of battleline making it seem like apart of the unit. (He told me he did this on purpose knowing I was a new player against DOK...******.... but smart). And lastly, I rushed, I had an idea in my head how to move and where to attack and where to defend without second guessing and really looking at the board. I was so stationary with where I was standing that I didn't really look at the board and created the giant hole he abused ( bow chicka wow wow) to gain a 2 turn win. Otherwise it was a great game and he was a fantastic general who gave me a ton of tips after the game was over.

With each loss is a lesson on how not lose. Love the community I'm involved with and I cant wait to get better 🤘

  5. Running a cleansing phalanx today against DoK. I've only collected 3 Soul Wars Stormcast sets, an ordinator and extra unit of evocators to be able to pull off 2 units of 5. This is my first time against DoK, what's they're main strength? Is there a good artifact or 2 I should grab to help out against this army? And lastly should I consider a sformhost? I'm thinking either HoS to bring a unit of Sequitors back and for the FNP/ bravery +1, OR I'm thinking of taking the host (currently forget the name) that allows me to shoot in the hero phase so I can double shoot with my 3 ballistas. Below is my list. Any and all help would be appreciated!

Lord Arcanum on gryph - General

    2 × knight incantor - Azerite Halo/second spell??

    Lord ordinator

    1 × 10 sequitors

    2 × 5 sequitors

    3 × ballista

    2 × 5 evocators

    Cleansing Phalanx Battalion

    1960/2000 points

  6. Building a cleansing phalanx 2k list and I hear many people mention a Gav bomb move with this list, I understand gav gives re rolls on charges but how does a gave bomb tactic work?

Also, would it be a good idea to run a night azryos in the list. I'm thinking this - screen and fight with sequitors, finish off with evocators, Azryos clears remaining units. Then the same for going against heroes. Opinions?

  7. So I got myself 3 stormcast armies from the Soul Wars box set after digging through Ebay for the last set to help fill out my sequitors, evocators and ballista. In a close 1960 point army I can run the following

-Lord Arcanum on Grypgh (general)/(wind runner mount trait) (chain lightning??)

    - 2x knight incantors (Azerite Halo)

-lord ordinator (got for free with one of the sets off a person)

    BATTLE LINE

    -1x10 sequitors

    -2x5 sequitors

    ARTILLERY

    - 3x ballista

    OTHER

-1x5 evocators (just need one more model to run cleansing phalanx...)

    -2x6 Castigators

Now I can drop a unit of Castigators and run Hailstorm Battery, but from what I've read, That battalion is useless. My question is, with this heavy "sacrosanct" army, should I consider dropping all units of castigators to run a second arcanum on Gryph or as is?

Also, I like using HOS for the +1 bravery, revive on 5 and feel no pain on 6, should I keep using this chapter for this army or drop it all and be able to take my own trait and artifact? If you think I should. Which traits and artifacts do you guys see mostly utilized and why?

Well remember that the Phalanx is a hard cap of 2 units of each, so bringing more Sequitors past 2 units isn't really that valuable.

You probably only need one big unit of Evocators, I think overall a unit of 20 Sequitors/5 Sequitors/10 Evos (or 6 mounted)/5 Evos is probably the best bang for your buck, though of course it's quite limited.

You may want to invest in Gavriel Sureheart - you're already taking all the things that want to charge early, anyways.

Who would I want to drop for gav? The incantor or castellant?

And wouldn't gav need to be the general to run as the general?  Because that would drop the sequitors as battleline

  9. Then if I'm building a 2k cleansing phalanx list, is it a better idea to build heavier sequitor/evocator units or smaller units but more of them? One of the previous posters said that the castellant should be the first grab at a hero after having the arcanum (needed for sequitor battleline).

But my debate is also reducing the size I have of the units to fill an extra hero

    My current list is

    Lord Arcanum - general

    Incantor

    Castellant

    Sequitors 2x10

    Sequitors 1x5

    Evocators 2x10

    Cleansing phalanx

    2000/2000 points

I want to test this list out once I fill the units out but it's a debate on reducing the units for an additional hero or unit of something oooor decrease the unit sizes but add more units for the cleansing phalanx

Mine is just an Incantor. You're not running any heavy fighty Heroes, so my thought is that the most important thing for generalship is to get that extra range for the CA, and the Incantor is least likely to be hugging a unit that you want to activate extra times, so could use the extra 9" radius.

Plus, since I often throw her into hordes to use her Vials, the -1 Bravery is sometimes useful.

CA stands for command ability I take it? What CA is it you want to activate heavily in anvilstrike?

Disclaimer: Haven't actually played new SCE
But first, you will ALWAYS be weak on something if you invest 800 points into heroes and battalion
Second, why HoS? They exist for their characters, not their stormhost abilities
Third - Judicators>Castigators, they are simply better

Unless you face armies like FEC Gristlegore that will kill you in melee no matter what, you don't need neither massed shooting, nor you will struggle without those MWs from heroes. So for a Cleansing Phalanx I'd go for something like this:

    Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals
    Mortal Realm: Aqshy

    Leaders
    Lord-Arcanum on Gryph-Charger (240)
    - General
    - Trait: Staunch Defender
    - Artefact: Ignax's Scales
    - Spell: Thundershock
    - Mount Trait: Wind Runner
    Knight-Incantor (140)
    - Spell: Azyrite Halo
    Lord-Castellant (100)
    - Artefact: Thermalrider Cloak

    Battleline
    10 x Sequitors (240)
    - Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields
    - 5x Stormsmite Greatmaces
    10 x Sequitors (240)
    - Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields
    - 5x Stormsmite Greatmaces
    5 x Judicators (160)
    - Skybolt Bows
    - 1x Shockbolt Bows

    Units
    3 x Evocators on Dracolines (300)
    - 2x Grandstaves
    - Lore of Invigoration: Celestial Blades
    10 x Evocators (400)
    - 5x Grandstaves
    - Lore of Invigoration: Speed of Lightning
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers

    Battalions
    Cleansing Phalanx (120)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 123

Here you have decent mobility, your castellant can follow anything, you can Wind Run your general onto objective and Scion 10 seq to protect him, your juds will poke opponent's monsters and heroes and they are a good option for your 3rd BL, instead you can change them for libs or seq, drop skinks and add another hero.

With your units being big and tough you'll be able to take some punishment instead of loosing units after one opponent's activation.

My general idea with the heroes was to have heavy heals and the revive from arcanum to keep troops up with HoS reviving a complete unit. I liked heraldor for movement boost as well as some good aos dmg. Because I'm learning still, why would I want a castellant over the relictor heals and herolders movement?

  12. I'm wanting to run a 2k army based on cleansing phalanx. I have a couple of lists I can build but I find a few problems, either mobility is weak, units are small, or I have no ranged based attacks. Below I'll put the lists of my ideas and I would love to hear your guess positions on them and any changes that should be made or other possible units to help.

The leaders I always plan on keeping the same, I want a few for the heals and translocation. My idea is to use arcanum command point to automatically get an empower off on a group of sequitors.

This unit is for the mobility of the evocators but most other units are minimum. I wanted some range so I threw in the castigators since they are cheap and I can have quite a few models

This unit bulks up a couple of the sequitors but keeps the units if evos at minimum. I through in I castigators again for some range and they are cheap for range

This unit bulks up the evocators to 2x10 with 3x5 of sequitors. No range, small mobility.

    409686821_Screenshot_20190416-103626_WHAoS.jpg.c906db21a6b7d9f54063e467150d8fe3.jpg

    1603197478_Screenshot_20190416-105915_WHAoS.jpg.fecac50a757d9eb09f56ef9de157bce6.jpg512026707_Screenshot_20190416-105917_WHAoS.jpg.427a48b8a6c8854a51312606c71fe182.jpg

What should be changed out of all of these to meet that perfect middle ground? I could drop the castigators for judicators and I could drop a hero to bulk a unit or bring in another unit of something. I also had a build where it was 3×5 sequitors, 2x5 evocators, i dropped celestant and replaced him with ordinator and had 3 ballistas going

  13. Ok thinking of this as a 1000 army.

    Allegiance : Hammers of Sigmar

Lord Arcanum on gryph charger (forced artifact) (wind runner trait)

    5 x sequitors

    5 x Judicators

    10 x evocators (or run as 2x5)

My thoughts on this is to run the two battle lines to get objectives. The evocators will handle the smack down on the major heroes and with arcanum wind running to help the battle lines as well as the evocators.

    Thoughts?

Sorry it’s 1 x 10, and 2 x 5. 20 in total.  3 units so exceeds Battleline requirements. If you have the models the unit of 5 should have 3 Greatmaces each (always give one to the Prime)  and the unit of 10 should have 5. If you cast Azyrite Halo on whichever unit you expect to get shot at the most you’ll inflict a mortal wound back st whoever shot you on a save of a 6. Factor in the re-rolls for having a shield if if it’s the Sequitors and it’s a nasty proposition. If you take Staunch Defender you’ll also be saving  most things on a 3 or 4 and with Cycle of the Storm you can more or less resurrect a model per turn so you shouldn’t be too hurt from shooting.

Do you not have the Knight Incantor from Soul Wars? Most people use that for an Arcanum on foot. Her and the other Knight Incantor (bald guy) can be got on EBay for a couple of pounds each.

Also what did you take last time and what was your strategy? That’s as important as your list.

Aah ok makes sense. I do have 2 knight incantors! I'll do a build list and see if I can fit them all together on a unit.
