As someone who is not likely to play this army, this is weirdly the most hype release for me. Maybe it is the idea that they can be used in any army, maybe it is the prospect of coming across them on the tabletop one day, maybe it is the cool lore and custom jobs that I will spend the next few weeks looking up... but most of all it is @KingBrodd finally getting some long waited for Giant love.

The same goes for me! I won´t probably buy a single mega gargant, but I´m hyped to see the how the range of armies expand in such an original way, so pumped for future Sons of Behemath players! (I´m only midly preocupied that the SoB turns into the equivalent to the 40k knights in how they broke the game... I hoped that they are properly balanced)

  2.

Hello there! When I first though of collecting CoS my idea was to make it Anvilgard, taking into account that most of the models I own were from the dark elf range. Sadly, I realized that the rules of that city kind of suck, and that I could make it work better with Tempest Eye. Reading in this threat, I found a list made by Leemer, that was very simmilar to the one that I created for Anvilgard, so making some adjustments I came up with this list (the one not in spoiler)

    Spoiler

    Leemer list:

    Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar
    - City: Tempest's Eye
    Mortal Realm: Aqshy
    Dreadlord on Black Dragon (300)
    - General
    - Lance of Spite & Shield
    - Command Trait: Swift as the Wind
    - Artefact: Incandescent Rageblade
Celestial Hurricanum With Celestial Battlemage (280)
    - Lore of Eagles: Aura of Glory
    Sorceress (90)
    - Lore of Eagles: Celestial Visions
    Knight-Azyros (100)
    10 x Freeguild Handgunners (100)
    20 x Darkshards (200)
    20 x Executioners (240)

    10 x Drakespawn Knights (260)
    2 x Concussors (220)
    6 x Endrinriggers (200)
    - 2x Grapnel Launchers

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 127

    My list:

    Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar
    - City: Tempest's Eye

    Leaders
    Knight-Azyros (100)
Celestial Hurricanum with Celestial Battlemage (280)
    - Lore of Eagles: Aura of Glory
    Dreadlord on Black Dragon (300)
    - General
    - Lance of Spite & Tyrant Shield
    - Command Trait: Swift as the Wind

    ¿Zephyrite banner?
    Sorceress (90)
    - Lore of Eagles: Celestial Visions

    Battleline
    10 x Darkshards (100)
    10 x Drakespawn Knights (260)
    3 x Drakespawn Chariots (210)

    Units
    2 x Tempestors (190)
    30 x Executioners (300)
    10 x Shadow Warriors (110)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs
    Extra Command Point (50)

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 133

I wanted to use Concussors at the begining, but I would need two command points for the Dreadlord and the Sorceress. But I´m thinking that maybe the Tempestors would be a better choice, as the aura of the Hurricanum is already very crowded, with the tempestors I could also shoot to a enemy unit which could be capable of activate before mine (Dragon strike first and another unit would charge, so for the third activation the idea is to protect that unit with the -1)

For the artifact, I was thinking about getting the Zephyrite Banner to secure charges, but I have serious doubts about who should wear it (the obvious choice is the Hurricanum, but he is already a juicy target) the other only option is the dragon, as the rest of the heroes are too squishy...

What do you think of the list??

  3. Some progress (I have some days still to finish a bit more of stuff)

The cauldron is gorgeous! I´m also happy with the result of my Anvilgard Executioners (third army there I go!)

PD: yes, rebasing the metal executioners was a huge pain. And I have at this moment 6 more waiting to be sawed (sobs)

  4. Seeing that the Anvilgard thread is dead, I’m gonna post here a 2000 point list

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 130

How do you see the list? I was thinking about changing the soulscream bridge for a Knight Azyros or more shadow warriors. Should I use a Luminarch over the Hurricanum? Any help is welcomed!

  5. Hello people of the cities! I’ve recently found a decent amount of dark elves abandoned by a friend years ago. Most of the 1500 base list is from things that I already own (I could fit some black guards and a couple of cold one chariots).

From there (and supposing that the 1500 list is somewhat acceptable I would like to expand up to 2000. What do you think is best?

    Allegiance: Order

    Leaders
    Dreadlord on Black Dragon (300)
    - Exile Blade & Shield
    Sorceress (90)
    Sorceress (90)

    Battleline
    20 x Darkshards (200)
    10 x Dreadspears (90)
    10 x Dreadspears (90)

    Units
    10 x Drakespawn Knights (260)
    30 x Executioners (300)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs
    Umbral Spellportal (70)

    Total: 1490 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 114

I thought some options for expanding to 2000...

    Option 1:

    Allegiance: Order

    Leaders

    Battleline

    Units
    20 x Irondrakes (300)
    10 x Shadow Warriors (110)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs
    Soulscream Bridge (100)

    Total: 510 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 30

    Option 2:

    Allegiance: Order

    Leaders

    Battleline

    Units
    10 x Shadow Warriors (110)
    1 x Drakespawn Chariots (80)
    5 x Sisters of the Thorn (130)

    Behemoths
    War Hydra (170)

    Total: 490 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 38

Or maybe adding a Luminarch or Hurricanum or even a Phoenix or Phoenix Guard?? Some dispell power from a Runelord to realicate endless spells? (Or annoited)

    So many options....!!

  6. 1. The grand alliance separation is important when considering allies too. You can take a small part of your army from another faction as long as it is from the same grand alliance (and from a faction allowed by your battletome). In the case of Chaos any God Army (Maggotkin, Bloodbound, etc) can take most of the Slaves To Darkness units.

    2. Ossiarchs are mainly defensive, very though and with fantastic artillery but tend to be slow and static (Which can make harder the objective play).  They have ways to revive infantry non stop to maximise the staying power (and the nuisance)

Slaves are more offensive, can field more bodies and is more mobile(bad thing is that their best unit is the marauder and the miniature is ancient and starving for a renovation, the other con is that the Chaos Warrior is underwhelming). They also have some punchy heroes.

Maggotkin is resistant, but it needs to be offensive and tends to be slow, so you have to play smart to maximise speed and get where you want to be. They can summon (the other two factions can’t)

    5. My understanding is that Ossiarchs are the most competitive of the three (and the easiest to control). Slaves can compete nicely, but is harder to pilot (lot of sinergies) and Maggotkin is struggling a bit because their battletome is old at this point.
