  1. You are assuming all combat armies have equal stats/abilities and aren't semi balanced around the fact that an army got niches and CAN fight twice. I'm not saying Slaanesh or FEC are 100% balanced, and I can certainly understand the frustration of fighting them, only to see your heroes/units wiped off the table before you got a chance to play with your toys, despite doing a charge. My point is that you can't just take 2 heroes from each and compare them like that.

Also you are comparing Ironjawz to new battletomes. It is absolutely no secret that the new battletomes are miles ahead of the older tomes or even an army that doesn't have a tome, so your experience will obviously be way different/worse. Armies with tomes in AoSv2 are VERY strong, so new tomes kind of have to give the army a certain oompf which Slaanesh certainly lacked previously.

Is it fun to play vs Focus of Diversion? I can see the frustration, but I think it is better than "I attack first" because there is zero counter to that, where as you can bring multiple units into combat to negate the Focus of Diversion, so there is at least more room for interaction.

24" on the disruption means that if the Fane is dead centre of a 4x6, you can hide her and still cover everything but the side edges and the rearmost bit of the opponent's territory.

This is for Head to Head deployments more than Conquest deployments, but in nearly every plan, her aura covers almost everything if she's hiding in the middle.

True that is a good point, but if you have her out in the front to ping with her shooting, she might be within danger of being pinged off by shooters etc. Obviously depends on the list you are facing. On the other hand, if the enemy wastes shooting on her over your other units/heroes, it might actually be ok.

Thanks for your advice, Enoby. I'll be actually playing my enrapturous to do a similar thing. She won't loose her fighting performance at the back (y'know it's mostly based on the shooting), while working as a summoning anchor near the fane. Though I'm not so sure of the benefit of 1DP/turn, but it's free bonus anyway.

And I'm also considering hiring the Masque as a cheap distracting model. Her new 4++ would help her to be durable a bit, I guess?

I can understand the desire to keep her way out of danger, but I really like being able to force your opponent to reroll sucessful casts.

The lack of FAQ for what will nearly be a month is odd. Perhaps our book is just really well designed and all questions are just variations of the rules writer going "Do we REALLY need to answer this?"

Also i heard a rumor some BoC Slaanesh list took a tourney. Anyone confirm/deny this?

I doubt it. There are quite a few odd interactions that require a FAQ. I'm guessing they are finishing the last bits and it will come next week.

@Kasper Shalaxi isn't just another keeper though - its a specific form of keeper with a specific dress, head and weapon set. If anything its actually easier to tell two identical keepers apart on the battlefield rather than always having to remember that the Shalaxi model isn't a Shalaxi on the table.

Sure in casual games its easy to proxy like that, but in tournaments people expect the proper models to be the proper things.

I'm really grateful for the insight and really not trying to nitpick, as I'd like to try building towards tournaments, but I'm just curious why kitbashing and conversions are allowed then. If I converted my Keeper, how is it any different? Or even people that convert the leaders in their battleline unit - Why wouldn't the opponent potentially be confused about wether it is a hero/herald or just the leader of the battleline unit?

@Kasper I don't think many would allow it. Shalaxi is a known form of the Keeper with a different appearance and weapon set. It's not just different its a totally different model in rules terms.

Now sure most players can mostly remember that its just another keeper, but in the end the long spear and head dress are going to confuse them mid- game; esp in a tourney where you might be playing against new and different people.

Personally I would say if you want to have two keepers of secrets and have them appear differently then model one normally and then model the other with Shalaxi's clothing. That would give it a different appearance from the other, but with no headdress and no spear it wouldn't be confused with the proper Shalaxi model.

Really? Well it is interesting to get other people's take on it. As said, it was purely to "help" the opposing player to differenciate between the general and a normal Keeper. I personally couldn't care less. I just figured a Keeper model was a Keeper, despite it looking a little different.

  7. I have actually been curious about this rule. I bought 2 Keeper of Secrets, but one of them would be my general and therefore be stronger due to artefacts etc. To differenciate between the 2 models on the battlefield, I decided to build one as the named unique Keeper character "Shalaxi Helbane" and the other as a "normal" Keeper of Secrets. The idea would be that my opponent could easily tell apart which would be significantly stronger. Would tournaments allow for this, even though Shalaxi is equipped with a spear rather than her normal sword?

Winner of battle of northern realms slaanesh. Quotes found from player on face book group warhammer: headonites and host of slaanesh.

"battle of the northern realms. Not sure if rest of the full results are up yet but it was slaanesh, dok and NH on the podium. Lots of australian masters players in attendance too. Was a pretty tight field with 24ish players"

"blister piloted by masters player, hagnar by masters player, 18 eels by one of my clubmates who found his way on table1 rd5."

    FB_IMG_1558304702816.jpg

I'm somehow not really surprised by this list. Joel has played loads of BoC and prefers to run as many models as possible. In his BoC lists he has like 150+ models in a 2.000 pts list. He said his playstyle was counterpunch, and not just move everything up the table and ram it at the opponent.

This is why thermal rider cloak comes up in so many of my builds tag the slaan the army becomes signifacantly weeker. I cant help that conclusion it gives us more of a chance to get use out of the keeper before dies. If its going to die may as well take anything important with it.

Certainly, I'll be going Thermal + Speed Chaser in the future. Im really liking the idea of going Godseekers with the hero batallion and think Pretenders might be bit of a trap

Yup, I'm getting a lot of feedbacks like this one... games ending at T2...

    Honest question for everyone :

Did you lose any of your games with hedonites ? Apart against a reapers spam, I'm starting to really dislike this army...

I got smoked by Seraphon with double Bastilladons at 1.500 pts. I played far from perfect and I should certainly have gone for thermal cloak on KoS to hunt the Slaan, but due to Bastilladons being tough as nails and the mass skink spam, I basically generated zero depravity. 1 shooting phase of the 2 Bastilladons basically wiped out a 30 man Daemonette squad too.

This is 100% incorrect, I've lost new players in my group because of it. Specifically I had 2 new guys pick up DoK and KO at the same time, neither were aware of the power difference in the two armies. They played for about 3 months with us (and my group tried to help them out, got the KO player games against the non DoK player, etc) but every time they played the KO player was absolutely dejected. To be clear the DoK player wasn't playing a netlist but was literally just taking good DoK units out of what was available and was still just entirely heads and shoulders above the KO player. After three months of this both sold off their armies and went on to find other games to play. Imbalance has more of an impact on casual and new players than top end tournament players.

But this has nothing to do about the talk about "top tier armies". This just goes to show that deck building is half the battle. At entry level, every face-smash army is miles ahead of armies that require tricks and good positioning. It also heavily depends on if you play with objectives or not.

With new players, all that matter is what units have the best damaging profiles. This will 100% decide the games when they don't have any idea of synergies and how their army functions. If you play a non objective game it is even worse, since it is 100% a fight to the death.

  12. I certainly think the whole "top tier armies" should be taken with a grain of salt. At what point is the armies imbalanced? At the very top? Surely the difference is much smaller for the people who aren't in the very top and not constantly participating in big tournaments. I understand the desire for having a fair match, but I know at my local it has been infected by this whole "top tier armies" thing. People kinda frown upon DoK players because they read somewhere that DoK wins a lot and therefore it must be "an easy and OP army". People using Tzaangor units as BoC are dorks etc. Some people seem to obsess a little bit too much without realizing that the imbalance the very top faces, isn't relevant at all for local play.

  13. To the guys that have gotten quite a few games done with the new tome already - Do you ever see yourself summoning in Seeker Chariots? I bought 2 SC boxes and made an Exalted Chariot out of the first. I'm considering making a second, but I'm not sure how often I'd run with double Exalted in my list, however I just don't see myself summoning in Seeker Chariots, much less including them in my start list.

Its one those Raw things were yeah it does say that but dear God that is wildly over powered so yeah let's take that interperatation what could possibly go wrong. Man people that desperate to power game just sad. The book is good without that nonsense.

At first I thought it was that way due to the wording, but if you explain to someone that by bringing X amount (which isnt unreasonable point wise), you would be able to summon a Keeper a turn by being passive, Im sure they can see the fault in the wording

Had a game against Khorne using the list above. There's not much of a battle report to write as it was over turn 2 after his front lines were charged anf obliterated by two keepers and the rest of his army was blocked by Hellstriders.

One thing the player did mention was that the locus of diversion was pretty unfun to play around as Khorne. Is there anything they can really do to us?

Elite armies will have trouble against the Locus, but armies where your KoS etc is in combat with multiple units per turn might be abit troublesome.

Im not sure how Slaanesh will fare against Skaven with their insane reach.

Effectively, the first has The Masque as a unit to harass enemy support heroes. Cavalry speed (10"+D6) and low profile (25 mm) lets The Masque squeeze around the edges of enemy lines to hit a priest/wizard/sniper unit, and those typically have 5" movement.

Isnt the Masque on a 32mm base? The new model comes with a 32mm at least. Im guessing the Vice Leader Herald is 32mm now too, even though the list from december 2018 says both are 25mm. I suppose it is outdated though.

Ha, interesting, I didn't even consider that it was optional hahaha. I do agree lots of CP is critical. (also a big knock against the Pretenders host)

So it more comes down to more CP vs more mobility. I will have to test both. I think I still lead towards the mobility though as more speed offers more opportunities to win tactically whereas more CP is just more bulldozing power which may turn out to be more powerful but it is less fun.

I think the Fane is a nice bonus but not game-changing. It is obviously a "must take" because it is a free bonus but it also isn't going to be game changing either. I think anyone who hates it's only grounds is they wanted more power out of a free terrain piece. Re-rolls in our army is super powerful though and that wound is so easy to heal back and free DP is never a bad thing.

All that said, I HATE the big daemon head. I wish it was just the Slaanesh symbol.

You can skip out on the head/portal easily and just have a giant Slaanesh icon standing in a pile of goodies.

Yep, some nice bonuses for BoC there. Honestly Slaanesh is looking like BoC 2.0.

Honestly I don't know how to feel about this. A part of me feel like BoC as a faction is left in the dirt, especially if your desire is to run "pure" non-god themed Beasts. On its own BoC feels weak/outdated already compared to the new tomes (FEC/Skaven). On the other hand BoC is very unique seeing as the faction basically gets updated 5 times (once for each God + our own tome) and maybe I just have to embrace the fact that we have so many different ways of playing our army.

Negative - the Taurus will always take precedence over the Tide. The FAQ states the most recent effect is used and since the Tides are an always on allegiance ability are never the most recent. About the only thing the bull doesn't stop dead is the Khorne artifact that gives them fight first on a roll.

I have noticed that new effects altering when a unit fight also includes a text in regards to effects cancelling each other out. Like if a unit always fights first, but this debuff makes it fight last, the two will cancel each other out, which is directly against the FAQ. I wonder if this will be FAQ'd later on so effects cancel each other out, or you will have different mechanics of altering when a unit fights.

Nop but I usually go very heavy out on Verminus, and mix a few moulder, skyre, Eshin and/or pestilence units into the list.

For example the current list I’ll be using soon, will be consisting of:

A Verminlord Warbringer:260p (General, brutal fury)

1Clawlord:100p (with the get a extra attack for each 1your opponent roles command trait)

    1Grey seer:120p (snoutgrouvel robe, warpgale)

    1Warlock bombardier:100p(mmwp)

    battleline

    2x40clanrats:400p(shields and handweapons)

    40Stormvermins:500p

    others

    30acolytes:320p

    5Gutter runners:60p

    total2000p

As much as I appreciate your list, it doesn't contain a single Plague Monk. 😋

I guess thats kind of my thoughts on the battalion in general. If you are running it, is it better served being a Beast of Chaos army than a Tzeentch list? Does the access to Tzeentch Daemons and Destiny Dice do anything better than the Herd stone and the Greatfrays? I could see a Cygor using Destiny Dice to make it a straight wizard sniper but Bolt of Tzeentch kind of does that already on a Lord of Change and from a longer distance if you have spell portal up.

I play BoC and haven't played a pure Tzeentch army, so can't really comment on the funky stuff you can do with Destiny Dice etc. Keep in mind the Herdstone is a very limited factor - The terrain piece is actually very counterintuitive compared to how the army plays overall. The Herdstone aura is so tiny and grows very slowly, yet the army is all about rushing across the table in turn 1/2, meaning you fight away from the battleshock immunity/-1 save bubble.
