  1. Indeed, i got very excited when i read about Darkoath/Beastmen.

I do hope there are additions for our current herds armies  and these are not specific "werebeast" models for the Darkoath akin to the Skin Wolves, with no link to the existing herds.

    Errata & designers notes updated.

Karank: quarry now reads as enemy hero

Aspiring db is +1 attack to units wholly within 10" of any models using the ability- so think that means no more stacking

Also Aspiring Deathbringer's command ability now triggers at the start of the combat phase so you can't even use it in a list with Archaon who needs your heroes to use the commands in the hero phase for the free triggers.

  3. Another FAQ for the Disciples of Tzeentch battletome

    "Pages 75-136 – Chaos Spawn
Change all references to ‘Chaos Spawn’ to ‘Tzeentch
Chaos Spawn’ (including the name of the warscroll on
    page 131)."

That means that the Chaos Spawn warscroll in the Tzeentch Battletome now has a different name and no longer replaces the Chaos Spawn warcsroll in "Grand Alliance: Chaos" , so we officially get back our spawns with chaos marks!

Its not pointless. With all four marks the Hero can benefit from multiple god buffs at the same time. E.g. you could buff a daemon prince with bloodsecrator for +1 Attack, another +1 Attack from the Glottkin, allow him to pile in and attack twice via a Keeper of Secrets, etc

Granted that would be a wacky chaos grand alliance list but the possibility is there.

If you go Grand Alliance Chaos though, you cannot take the "Mark of the All-Favoured" as it is a "Slaves to Darkness" artefact.

That would limit any possible buffs to the allies pool of a "Slaves to Darkness" allegiance which is 400 points of allies in a 2000 points army.

In my opinion that would make it a very weak artefact indeed, unless it does unlock for the bearer any mark specific abilities in his warscroll.

  5. They probably meant that every battletome/tournament army that could summon in AoS 1.0 would get a summoning revamp in AoS 2.0.

Brayherds are an underdog army and they likely didn't want to spend more time on them than necessary so they just replaced the summoning spell of the Bray Shaman with a generic one.

It does feel that the herds lose more flexibility with each General's Handbook since 2017 and i don't think this will change in the foreseeable future, unless they ever decide to give them an update like with Daughters of Khaine. I will keep mine for casual games at home for the time being and spice up my games with some beastmen characters from the first General's Handbook compendium. ?

    Highly costed, really!

Blightkings have remained at 160 points for 5, that is an absolute steal!!

The fact that none of the points went up in GHB18 is amazing, given how lethal Nurgle are, my win rate is 24 for 3  and I wouldn't consider myself a great player nor my opponents slouches.

Given what's happened to Khorne points I think Nurgle have been completely overlooked in terms of points re-balance. I was expecting 180 or even 200 for the PBK.

A little sad that Toads are nowhere near as resilient as before, but that just makes multiple PBK's an auto-include.

Not just that but multiple big heroes units could offer some nasty combos - Archaon, Rotigus/GUO and Glottkin plus Harbinger will be horrendous and all for a mere 1560 points. throw in some cheap battleline and Endless Spells and its going to get really tasty!

Indeed, i said that generally all the units in the Maggotkin Battletome have high costs because the warscrolls are good so the points are fair, they are not overcosted. My comment was a response above, that someone finding 320 points left to include the Chaos War Mammoth in a nurgle army is not likely if they want to play competitive Nurgle ?

I predict we may see it re-released like the rogue idol.

especially if rumours of a Slaves/everchosen battletome are true

I hope so as it is a gorgeous model and i have been long desiring one, putting on hold any conversions that cross my mind for custom mammoths as they wouldn't be as big as the real deal.

Still not sure if i should put my faith on Forgeworld and buy more miniatures from them, if they intend to make massive changes to warscrolls with every revision, unless this was a unique occasion in cooperation with GW rules team in preparation for the new edition.

320 points for the Mammoth in Nurgle is the best.

But hey, it's a nice meme edition to be in. Welcome Nurgle, you new Tzeentch now! :D

With everything in the Maggotkin battletome costing a lot of points (not overcosted in any way, just high point costs as the warscrolls are good) i don't think anyone would have an extra 320 points for a mammoth if they wanted to play in very competitive environments.

So this is just a welcome addition for those that want more miniatures to play with, nothing that would break Nurgle.

Khorne is my largest and first AoS army so i know how you feel, i am very disappointed with how they (didn't) handle Khorne this edition as well.

  9. They will probably nerf them mammoth next year , like they did with the Exalted Greater Unclean one this time, even if it doesn't see any tournaments.

I didn't even expect to see it included in this year's document since they phase out everything they don't sell so it was a big surprise to see it get a retouch.

Especially since it is a model out of production that they no longer sell, i don't have faith in them keeping it a "reasonable" warscroll in a future revision.

  10. I feel a little bad for not getting a nicely painted Tamurkhan at a good price on ebay a few months ago.

That said if you pick Tamurkhans Allegiance with your maggotkin, you must use their command trait instead of a maggotkin command trait and your first hero to get an artifact must take the one from tamurkhans allegiance so your choices get limited for getting the extra "Winds of Corruption" ability with your army.

Doesn't look like the Manticore Lord is getting any updates - not much changed at all in the errata, for StD actually. Not even the poor Darkoath Warqueen got an update, and her command ability is just a worse version of one of the new generic ones :s

That is really unfortunate if they don't buff him, since he is still the same overcosted as in General's Handbook 2017. Here is hoping that if they do a "Slaves to Darkness/Darkoath" battletome in the future we will see warscroll changes and buffs like they did in Maggotkin and Legions of Nagash.

Can Chaos Warriors still count as battleline for Khorne, Tzeentch, slaanesh specific armies? (Are they now only StD battleline?)

Chaos Warriors and Chaos Marauders are sill generic Chaos battleline in General's Handbook 2018 so they can be count for it in these armies.

Marauder Horsemen, Chaos Knights and Chaos Chariots (with Horses) are Slaves to Darkness specific Battleline.

    Chaos Spawn Confusion

Maggotkin cannot take the Tzeentch keyword, the Warscroll on GW’s website lists the Chaos Spawn as Tzeentch. But reading the GA:Chaos FAQ the deleted and replaced warscrolls start on pg 46, the Chaos Spawn is on of 45.

So, does that mean the Chaos Spawn has two valid Warscrolls? And the one from GA:Chaos can then be taken in a Mattotkin army?

I always assumed that, i saw the inclusion of the Tzeentch  marked spawn in the Disciples of Tzeentch Battletome as a fill-in for the lack of a Tzeentch equivalent to Khorgoraths/Beasts of Nurgle/Fiends of Slaanesh.  The Slaughterbrute later recieved a Khorne version warscroll and the Vortex Beast a tzeentch version but their old generic Chaos warscrolls are still valid.

I believe the person that did the mass replacement of old warscrolls with new ones when Tzeenth released, just replaced the old Chaos Spawn warscroll instead of adding the additional and they never bothered to fix that as there were not many people pointing at it.?

  14. I am confused on the Fleshhounds being on 60mm ovals. It is a buff to the unit since you can pile in more of them, but they are sold with 50mm rounds and the Fleshhound from Shadespire comes on a 50mm round as well. I rebased mine last year from the old fantasy rectangulars to 50 mm rounds and it was a pain to do and repaint the metal parts were paint got stripped. I am not eager to rebase and paint them again this time, only to see them getting a plastic release with maybe 50mm rounds in 1-2 years ahead.

Hi guys did anything happen to Chaos Knights points?

Nope, same as in GH 2017.

The only StD units that saw points changes are the Chaos Warshrine -20  and Lord of Chaos +40.

They also seem to have just copy pasted the ally tables from last year's General's Handbook into the new one. Slaves to Darkness still can't take Monsters of Chaos as allies which doesn't make sense lore-wise or game-wise.

I've always used them in 40s anyway. :-)

I think it's a good value unit for 200 if you can mitigate battleshock or give them a ward save.

Just finished converting my first 10 of the 20, they are so old models that they look bad next to everything so i had to do many head swaps, and add extra beards and fur and skulls on their shoulders. By the time i buy another 20, convert them and paint them, i bet official Darkoath might have been released and i will feel bad for not waiting patiently for them, haha. ?

  17. Ungor Raiders will not have a reduced cost bonus for taking them in 40s in the new edition because their minimum unit cost came down by 20 points per 10 models.

I think they are ok to run in 30s now as well, what does everyone think?
