Hey guys, I got my first Skaven today (thanks to a colleague that had some and wanted to sell them). And so, I have a question:
I've got 20 Stormvermin now: 2 Fangleaders (one of them has a shield), 2 Drummers, Two Banner-rats, 6 ordinary SVs with shields and 8 SVs without shields. Can I field them as one unit of 20 SVs with Clanshields (meaning, with the Save bonus), or wouldn't it be allowed? Also, if I split them into two units, can I make a unit with a shield-carrying Fangleader, a Drummer, a Banner carrier, 6 SVs with shields and 1 SV without a shield - and claim the Clanshield bonus? I suspect it's all about what my oppoents would say to this, but do you think it'd be most probably acceptable, or does it go against the spirit of the game?
On another note: how do the SV compare against the Clanrats? Does it make more sense to invest in Clanrats or the SV?
For someone new to the game I can recommend playing Meeting Engagements. It’s a great introduction to the game and your 20 Stormvermin will perform well against smaller units (as is common in ME) Your stormvermin fulfil your basic battleline requirement leaving you free to buy/beg/borrow any other skaven units that you like to make up the remaining points. A clawlord can help buff your stormvermin so might be worth thinking about.
Enjoy 😁

Hi guys, looking for a little help with my 2k moulder list. This is what I have so far:
SpoilerAllegiance: Skaventide
Thanquol on Boneripper (400)
- General
- Lore of Ruin: Death Frenzy
Master Moulder (100)
- Artefact: Rabid Crown
2 x Rat Ogors (100)
2 x Rat Ogors (100)
2 x Rat Ogors (100)
40 x Giant Rats (200)
3 x Packmasters (60)
3 x Packmasters (60)
10 x Wolf Rats (200)
3 x Stormfiends (260)
Hell Pit Abomination (240)
Fleshmeld Menagerie (160)
Total: 1980 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 1
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 144
Possible considerations are:
- Dropping 5 Wolf Rats, 2 rat ogres and 3 packmasters (260pts) for another 3 stormfiends
- Dropping Thanquol and 3 packmasters (460pts) for Screaming Bell and another 3 stormfiends
- Dropping 5 Wolf Rats (100pts) and taking 2 more rat ogres and having 2 units of 4
Thoughts?
P.S. I don’t own any endless spells or verminlords. I have another master moulder, 2 rat ogres, 3 stormfiends and 3 packmasters 😃

I use Thanquol a lot... I don’t have any Verminlords, but I like him. I take him with 4 braziers and use him as a battering ram. He’s a straight up hero killer dealing massive amounts of damage with good rend. If I want warpfire... I take a warpfire team. I’ve always found him pretty resilient too with his 4+/5+ save and healing a wound each round.

Hi All,
Just wondered if I could please pick some of your brains?
I have entered the meeting engagements tournament this Sunday. Now I have not actually played any meeting engagements battles yet (I know bad preparation) (also first proper tournament) but have been tinkering with lists. What do people think of the following please- if you have any ideas.
List 1:
Spearhead: 20x clan rats
Main Body:
Warpseer- general
40x clan rats
Rear guard:
Warplock engineer
3x stormfeinds
List 2: (more for fun)
3x stormfeinds
Main Body:
Warplock engineer- general
6x stormfeinds
Rear guard:
Rattling cannon
Any thoughts would be appreciated- thanks.
List 2 looks spot-on. I play a similar list for meeting engagements.
One thing to note, even though it’s 1k points, you only require 1 battleline. Just in case you wanted to open up some other options.

It restores the whole unit as I understand. I’ve just built a 2k moulder army but not used it in any tournaments yet. I’m going with Thanquol, the battalion (worth the single drop alone) and some stormfiends for added firepower. I’ve just this week bought some Wolf Rats from forgeworld, going to give them a play tonight and see how they perform. I think moulder is often overlooked and has some great tools in there. My local players have developed a phobia of HPA and rat ogres 😂

I see they corrected the Misprint regarding the Stormvermin.
And there was much rejoicing. Yaaaaay.

3 Questions about Standard Bearers and Musicians - using Plague Monks as an example.
So, I bring a unit of 20 monks - I also (can) include 1 Standard Bearer - EITHER a Contagion Banner OR a Icon of Pestilence.
ALSO - Same unit may include 1 musician (term from Warhammer Fantasy Battles) - EITHER a Doom Gong or a Bale-chime.
Question - if I go to 40 models - do can I now bring BOTH a Contagion Banner AND an Icon of Pestilence, as well as BOTH a Doom Gong AND a Bale-Chime?
OR Is it that at 40 Models bringing a second Banner and Musician is irrelevant because they should be the same?
Also, if Models drop below 40 does second banner/musician bonus”go away”?
Finally, if my models drop below 20 - do I lose all bonuses for Standard Bearers, Musicians?
Follow up - if Clan Rats are below 20 models- do they lose their Standard Bearer and the ability to Retreat and Charge and Bell-Ringer giving +2 to Run?b
Asking for a friend.
Yes, 1 in 20 can be a standard bearer. So you can have 2 in a unit of 40 plague monks.
Same for plague monk musicians.
No, you keep the bonus while ever the standard bearer is in the unit. So make sure you don’t remove them when allocating wounds.
Same for clan rats. Keep your standard bearer/musician where they won’t be removed. Only when you’re less than 10 clanrats do you lose the shield bonus.
Hope that helps 😁

I believe so yes, the warscroll even states that it is a an obstacle (meaning it provides cover) in the same way as walls and fences are.

Quick question on gnawholes. If a unit is in combat but within 6” of a gnawhole , would moving through the gnawhole count as a retreat?

Awesome... looks great by the way. Top marks

A question about battalions and number of drops. I played a game this week with my pure moulder list (that I asked for advice on a few weeks ago) and for the first time found myself with an equal number of drops vs a Khorne list. I won the roll off, started deploying first and subsequently found myself in the unusual position of being able to decide whether to go first or not. I chose to go first because I felt obliged that having won the roll off that would be the obvious thing to do.
so my question is this, how important is going first? I lost the game this week and felt that maybe if I’d gone second I might have performed better, and if I hadn’t wasted points making my army fit into as few drops as possible I’d have had a few more models on the field. I had Thanqoul as general so wasted my command trait and extra artefact too.
looking at some of the recent lists above, I don’t see many battalions outside of Pestilens being used (unless you go full Skryre)
