  1. Not counting the individual costs of the new hero kits there seems to be about 40 USD difference in value on the two sides (Two kits of Revanents at 37 each and a unit of hunters at 57 brings the Sylvaneth up to about 132, while the GSG are a bounderz kit at 50 and a herd kit at 45 for a grand total of 95). That's a pretty big discount assuming the price is similar to Carrion Empire.

for season three, I bet they would finally make a Seraphon Warband just because of how many people keep ask for one on ever social media outlet I been too.

IDK, DoK, Bonsplitterz, and Nurgle all seem like good canidates too for a warband

Slaanesh seems fairly likely as well.

  3. The bands for the not season 3 starting players set are Order (stormcast band #4) and Death (banshee band), so we can add those to the count.

Also Season 2 added magic, but at least one warband had no wizard (I am actually assuming the KO will also be wizardless).

They said Warcry is aimed for the summer, so I don’t think we’ll see anything aside from more teasers and previews over the next couple of months.

The Warbands being mentioned are the ones for Underworlds not Warcry (specifically the Sylvaneth and KO ones needed to finish season 2)

Y'all need to stop making pointless wild guesses about the winged skull, it's been mentioned already that it's the FEC icon, it's on their boxes and the tome averages about two winged skulls per page 🙄

Awesome. I don't play Death at all so I didn't know that was the FEC symbol (and I could not find anything with my limited online searches). This means we have the two post soul wars Death BTs as Warbands.

This has caused me to go look at the other less obvious icons. That upper left one sure looks like the belt on the Bone Splitterz Savage Orruks Morboys leader.

This is the direction I reckon they're going to take but if each GA does actually get three warbands and whatever that new faction is does combine old minis, what could they do this with for death? I can't really see that happening with Tomb Kings as much as I want it too so my guess is the next best thing and that's Deathrattle, they're in the perfect position for expansion AoS proper wise and they're the backbone of any LoN army.

Knowing very little about the Death GA, I don't see a revamped Tomb Kings as being completely insane, but I do agree it is unlikely.  The problem with Death lorewise for me is that they are too organized/connected. Right now Death only seems to have three battletomes, LoN, FEC, and Night Haunt. Ghostly flame skull is almost dead certain to be a ghostly army (and they are part of the new hotness). The fanged skull screams vampires which as far as I can tell is LoN only. That's two of the three Death BTs right off the bat. If the FEC is included in the fanged skull, then things are all wide open for who knows what. A small tomb king revamp/whole new army with a few key heroes as new kits combined with a reboxed skeletons box doesn't feel too outlandish.

  7. The biggest question is what is the missing symbol Warband? Right now we have three order (the questionable sigmar, the Dok, and the Idonet), three destruction (the questionable bonesplitters/ogors, Gloomspite, and a defeinite ork warband), and two Death (FEC/Soulblight and what I would assume is Nighthaunt). I've seen several discussions online that suggest the missing faction will be Death related. This would give each non chaos GA three warbands. The other question is why didn't they show the warband symbol. If I would guess it would have to be related to a "new" battletome that is yet to be announced that will recombine old minis into a new faction in a manner similar to Gloomspite.

That's true but we don't know the time frame of when they're releasing this, could be that between now and whenever that is they've released Free Peoples/Devoted of Sigmar or they could do it shortly after Warcry's release.

That they might. I would still expect Stormcast to be part of the warband in some fashion. They are just too much of the icons of order for AoS not to be in the rules.

What I am honestly wanting to see is a mixed followers of Sigmar warband that lets you use Stormcast as an elite option, and mix in some of those Devoted of Sigmar models as additional options. (The lightning definitely makes it seem like Sigmar instead of a more generic Free Peoples.)

  9. The fact that I can't just walk into my local GW store and impulse buy some Devoted of Sigmar (or really any Freepeople models as well) is another reason why I can't see the lightning icon warband being anything other than Stormcast. Unless they are planning on reboxing those models and putting them on the shelf GW would be walking away from the impulse buy (which I suspect would be a strong market for this kind of product)

Based on past experiences with Underworlds warbands getting rules for AOS... I wouldn't get your hopes up.

If the warbands were monoposed I would agree, but from what I have seen it looks like they are multipose. Add that to the other comment (which I am having trouble finding a source at the moment) that this was meant to scratch the Darkoath itch and I stand by my reaction.

The difference with the Underworlds AoS connection is that the Underworlds warbands were mostly character versions of units we have seen before. These Warcry warbands are more of a blank slate, which makes them perfect to be repackaged as unit boxes when an updated Chaos Mortals tome comes out.

I call the 9th warband will be Death aligned voodoo necromancer humans with new  animal and humans zombies 👌

If they let me play as a Voodoo styled necromancer I will finally have found a Death faction I like and demand it transitions to full AoS

makes sense. I figure 3 from each faction and figure from the glyphs we'll have...

    Death / LoN/Soulblight | Nighthaunt | Flesh Eater Courts

Order / Stormcast Eternals | Daughters of Khaine | Idoneth Deepkin

Destruction / Iron Jawz | Gloomspite and then I guess Ogors of some kind (as you say top left) or possibly a slimmer chance I guess could it could be Bonesplitterz

For destruction I keep thinking that the obvious ork head is a Iron Jawz or Bonesplitters and the other symbols as something non Orks (I don't imagine them doing two Ork factions). I could see that mystery symbol maybe being beastmen of some type or Ogors, but the Ogors seem more likely after it being called out specifically that Ogors are represented in the Iron Golem chaos band.

Most of my brainspace is trying to figure out which realm each chaos band will be connected to (since Iron Golem is specifically called out as Chamon I suspect this trend to continue), but I just had a tin foil hat moment for why we are missing the third Death Faction. What if it is inspired by Tomb Kings? Would make sense to exclude that if they are actually planning a rerelease later (I admit this is pure speculation, but would be a cool twist)
