from that album of leaked pages, it looks like non-Chaos warbands will be allowed first in Narrative/Open play only? I can't say I mind that, if we can only use specific existing units.

I've been looking over this, but other than the Campaign rules mentioning quests for non-Chaos warbands, what makes you think this is the case?

Is there any mention yet of these bands being useable in matched play? I could've sworn GW said in the past that the warbands would get points values for the main game. Guess I imagined it haha.

But oh wow I did not expect more warbands let alone teases for them already, I've been longing for proper old-school style warriors of chaos and then here are the tyrants 😍 a dream come true.

GW did say that the new Warcry stuff would get warscrolls, they just did not say when.

  3. The more I look at the cards the more I wish it made it clear on the cards that the value of the ability being activated is determined by the dice used to activate it. Other than that it is a nice visual thing that you can get your mind around without having to track cards or cp. Just set aside your pairs, triples, and quads  after rolling and away you go. The only question is can I I break up the groupings or is it all or nothing? I can see where you might not have a good setup to use "Whirlwind of Death," but could maybe want to throw two bolos, or use "Spine Crushing Blow" with one fighter and "Lead with Strength" on another.

You are kidding, right? If they wanted it they'd had done it. Releasing the datasheets for free, online, is just a CHOICE. Nothing to do with the books. They didn't wnat to do it for KT, nor for warcry but they did for AoS and Apocalypse.

When you see what is playable on SCE or LoN or whatever in warcry, you are not crying for war but of misery.  The new warbands have several options, SCE only 3, LoN idem etc... AND this is already an expansion.

We don't actually know if the stats are in the book or not, so calling it an expansion in the way you are feels like it may not be accurate.

  5. I am digging the initiative system. You're basically trading off being able to go first vs using more powerful special abilities. Hopefully some of the warbands have abilities that let them shift dice or give them some choice there.

  6. Also, we don't know what their actual stats will look like in Warcry so it is hard to say that raptors will be overpowered. I really want the SCE options to be Vanguard based, because I love those models but currently have no reason to take them instead of my Sacrosanct guys. Also, if hounds are on the list I am going to make an SCE list that is as much doggo as the rules allow.

  7. The price is on the high end of my expectations, but for USD it is still about $60 cheaper than buying it piecemeal before you add in the costs of the other things you cannot buy (tokens, the chaos beasts models, dice, etc.) I was hoping that it would come in just a little lower,  but to me this price point suggests that the starter is going to be around longer than the KT one was.

  8. Deathcasts AKA what Nagash does to get back at Sigmar for stealing souls

Skeletons: the cheap rank and file options. Have a melee and an archery variant.

Obsidian Golems: The elite option. Obsidian bodies powered by the soul of a dead warrior bent to Nagash's will. These will be the multi wound heavy hitters.

Warmachines: Bring back the Necro Sphinx and a bigger version of the Obsidian Golems mentioned above. Maybe give them something like the skeleton catapult.

Hero/Casters: Necormancer, a "sculpter" themed guy, and maybe someone who is partially Obsidian.

  9. Looks like I'm going to be in for almost everything: Stormcast and Gits for myself, Idoneth for the Daughter, and FEC and Nighthaunt for the girlfriend. This is in addition to the starter and the Cyphers. Must have ALL THE WARBANDS!

  10. If I had to rank all six it would look something like this

    1.Corvus Cabal

    2/3. Splintered Fangs/Cypher Lords

    4/5. Unmade/Untamed Beasts

    6. Iron Golems

This isn't to say that I despise the Golems, I just love everything else. I know my buddy who plays vicariously through me loves the look of the Golems, so I am hoping I can use his opinion to convert him once the starter is inhand.

    I thought the same thing.

I wonder if they were originally going to release the new Death faction before Warcry but rejiggered it and so they've created some emergency Nagash cards to cover this (we all need emergency Nagash cards at times)

Considering the lead time in developing and printing things like cards and the packaging that goes into them, that seems unlikely. Not sure why they didn't include LoN in the initial tease, but if it is because of a delay like that then the Nagash cards would have to have already been set to go next.

About all but confirmed I'd say. A lot of none-to-subtle hints (the previewed box art, the order of previews, the many shots of what certainly looks like starter content). But they have yet to confirm it explicitly.

Fair enough. (Still can't find that box art again.)

Annoyingly the Untamed Beasts, the only warband I could see myself completely skipping, will propably be in the starter.

I feel like it has already been confirmed that the starter box is Golems vs Beasts. (Having trouble finding the article, but the packaging was shown on Warhammer Community a while back)

  14. I am really psyched for this. My wallet won't be (especially since I just put a deposit down on a ring for the lady), but I have been waiting for Warcry for way too long now. Love all of the warbands, and the lady, daughter, and I each have models for at least one of the non chaos factions. Hopefully the rules previews reinforce the excitement.

Focusing on the Cypher Lords, I am digging almost everything about them. The head dresses are a little jarring, but the more I look at the models the more they are growing on me. The "leader" model looks to be an alchemist of some sort (or at least is using a grenade that seems alchemical), which definitely helps them stand out even more.
