The warscrolls aren't free if they're locked behind a subscription.
Looks like you'll have to buy the books to unlock the rules portion (that's fine but it's not as good as the old app where we could just buy a full digital version of the battletome with all the fluff and everything instead of getting it for "free" if you buy a 50 dollar physical book you may or may not want). And the warscrolls will be locked behind a subscription fo W+ which is exclusively a downgrade from the old app. In unsure whether you have to subscribe to see the warscrolls from your book if you have the digital code to unlock the rules but I mean. I doubt it right?
I did not say that they were free. I was specifically referring to the warscrolls requiring a book code.
I do agree that the warscrolls being locked behind the sub is a downgrade. Hopefully when the new kits show up on the webstore this weekend we will still be able to get a true cost free warscroll there.
In regards to the content you have unlocked and not having a subscription. From what I recall from the 40k app you can see the books you have unlocked even if you do not have an active sub.

No, the old app had all the warscrolls for free. The new one will not for future books.
Do you have a source for this? I only ask because all communication I have seen has seemed to indicate that you will have access to all the warscrolls (with a subscription), but the actual army rules are what will be gated behind a book code.

isn't there only like 5 kits gw even allows on their shelves now?
They're repackaging stuff for new box style like 40k as wellThat's my point. The manager was telling me about how the current display specs allow for zero kits on the shelf. So far I think 40k repacking has basically come with a Codex release (because they were updating the rules included in the boxes).
-
So when I was in the local GW shop the other day, the manager pointed out to me several times that all the Skaven kits were being pulled from the shelf (knowing I am a Skaven fan). This seems to suggest a repackaging or a line refresh.

Interestingly it has just come now despite the status still saying pending! Hopefully everyone else gets theirs today too.
I am in a similar boat, so I am curious as to where you are located (before I do something silly like go buy another copy)

Which to me means we fall back on common usage. If I was talking about the rules interaction I cannot think of any other way to say it other than they used the ability.

Some Core Battalions have the same description.
Imho, Yes, it counts.
Because to use a Command Ability, a Leader/Champion/whatever Issue the order, a unit Recieve the order and spend 1 CP. This abilities just doens't need a Leader/Champion/Whatever to Issue the order and the order doesn't need a CP to be used:That's how I read it as well, but three other players have told me I am wrong, so I wanted to poll elsewhere.

Question that has come up with the local playgroup and I was curious on your thoughts. Does a warscroll that says a unit is "‘If an enemy unit finishes a charge move within 3" of this unit, this unit can receive the Unleash Hell command without the command being issued and without a command point being spent." count as your one use of that CA for the phase when you activate it?

I like the look of these at first glance, but I'd like some clarification:
A benefit for your generals and totems is a larger command range? Cool, sounds good.
But, what's the point of a larger command range if unit leaders can use commands? Obviously in niche situations like targeted model removal, but otherwise the unit leader will always be in range and most units have a leader. Obviously this only matters for the generic command abilities (because a unit doesn't have their unique ones), but it still seems odd (especially as warscroll command abilities already have their own range).
Maybe heroes will have access to different command abilities?
I know it has already been mentioned that warscrolls have command abilities unique to specific units, so that's one benefit. There are also a small amount of units that don't have champions (squig herds, fanatics, and the trogoths just off the top of my head)

would those not be in the rulebook already?
The points changes won't be (keeping them out of the core makes the product more evergreen). Matched play battle plans are usually expanded in the GT books, and I would be surprised if they didn't continue that with GHB2021
The changes to monsters, heroes, and CP are interesting. My manglers will have some interesting things to do.

I would love the line to see Vanguard as the focus. Of the three open chambers, it is the one I prefer but has the weakest rules.

Honestly... I would be happy if they just gave me a plastic Skryre Acolyte kit. Those metal poisoned-wind globadiers were the same metal models when I was playing WHFB back in 98-99

This is also the same verbiage they used when launching 40k and 9th edition, which then immediately got rid of specialist detachments in Matched play.

So I am really feeling the urge to get into KO by getting the battleforce box and the half of aetherwar. Any advice for someone brand new to the faction?

I wonder if Death is getting any support in that book since it is supposed to be a Death vs Chaos book, or if it is all Chaos all the time?

Ah, I missed that bit. Still sticking to release in Febraury, but will revise that to include preorder being the very last weekend this month.

Aos as a game whole maybe but that really doesn't help Seraphon players... If you are really positive thinker now you can at least hope they are the next release after these two...
The one Seraphon player in my local meta doesn't want a new tome because he thinks they are going to lose the warscroll battalions he enjoys (because they are hyper competitive according to him)

They've already said sisters are a January release
Where was this said?

I personally am suspecting the Hysh army, although I am unsure what exactly that is going to be.
Also expect them to announce that Sisters will have their wide release in February.

Was wishing for a Troggoth gloomspite (already have all the squigs I want) or a suit focused Tau box. If they don't materialize the AT knight battleforce my wallet may be safe this year from these deals (but not from more OBR stuff)

Just realized that if you buy a box of leadbelchers to go with the two in this box you have enough to make two min size units. (provided they don't change the min unit size)

Considering my fiance has said she wants to paint some ogors in the past, this box may be a perfect start for me.
