Finally an AoS animation!
Now where the heck is this art from? What realm is this?
The realm of Planet of the Apes. It’s the most ambitious crossover yet!

FYI, Dracothion Guard and LA on Tauralon both went out of stock on GW’s site over the past two days. eBay is now really the only place to get them. And I doubt we’ll see any type of restock until the new models drop.
So if you want Dracothion guard you might want to get them on eBay before they’re gone.
Currently waiting on a box of Dracoths myself

Ok, hypothetical trick that I have been mulling over this morning:
Lord Relictor with Translocation (and probably the reroll prayers general trait)
Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger (and possibly Scintillating Trail as a mount trait)
Damage Endless Spell (optional)Step 1: translocate LA on gryph to 9" away from enemy blob
Step 2: drop damaging Endless Spell (or thundershock, or chain lightning) right in enemies' faces
Step 3: in movement phase, use Ride the Winds Aetheric to teleport back to safetyYou can do this early on before you're ready to alpha strike with whatever blob you want to teleport with your translocate, or you can do it the turn after to throw some extra damage out. I'm not sure how effective it will be, but it's also just a nice combo in general, letting your LA on gryph essentially be wherever he needs to be to cast a spell when he needs to cast it, rather than having to predict in advance where he'll need to be for your next hero phase. Just sit him with the Lord Relictor and translocate away. Would also be nice for dropping Mystic Shields or healings onto isolated flanking/forward deployed units without also risking losing the LA.
My question is: if you were going to do this, which damage endless spell would you go for? No point doing it on the comet because of the 36" range. The Celestian Vortex seems okay, especially against shooting armies, but it's a bit expensive. I'm thinking Purple Sun because if it goes wild, it's so far onto your opponent's side that it probably won't be able to hurt you much, or maybe Suffocating Gravetide? Maybe Burning Head for ultra budget, but that almost feels like a waste. What are your thoughts?
I wouldn’t do this with a one cast general who has no casting bonuses. Any super caster will shut it down effortlessly.
In addition, none of the SCE spells are (imo) damaging enough to make this worthwhile either. Honestly comet is superior in that regard.
Its maybe worthwhile on Thundershock and Starfall.

So...
Does anyone have a potential list to make the Knight-Judicator work? I understand he is not good, but I really enjoy the model and want something to play with my friends.
I was thinking something close to @PJetski's Hallowstrike, but swap out the Protectors for a KJudicator and a unit of x2 Fulminators. Thoughts?
I think you could pretty easily run one of them in almost any list, and 3 of them start to look scary.

Aiming for the middle of the pack will slow down the power-creep, and that's good in my book. Of course it will suck for competitive people but it will be good for anyone else.
Of course that can backfire if the next battletomes are over the top, but that's another thing to talk about.
That would be fine if we were starting from 0 with no legacy stuff to deal with, but the reality is that there are existing strong books that GW have failed to reign in; that these books will exist unchanged until at least Xmas; and GW has a demonstrable track record of being unable to control themselves when it comes to mid-cycle power creep.
Asking for a middling book early is asking to be weak for the entire edition.

This is beyond a farce now.
Earliest release date is October 23rd. That will be 6 weeks from the book preorder date. Bear in mind that was delayed by 2 weeks (should have been last week of August), we’re talking an 8 week delay.
And nothing on the communication front.

If an army doesn't have tourney winning lists that is a GOOD thing! Balanced. Armies. Don't. Win. Tournaments.
We want to reign in the top stuff, because that's how to get an actually diverse array of tournament builds. Promoting top cheese just means each army gets zero to two viable builds. Tourney players who want to have options are best served by pushing as hard as possible to get the currently strongest ones nerfed. Even if power builds from other armies are left initially untouched, removing others from the picture highlights the problem elements making them more likely to be fixed in the future.
Except we don’t play events in this theoretical state where the top lists are reigned in. We have to play in events where Sons, Archaon, Sentinels, Seraphon are rolling over everything right now, and GW have shown no interest in doing anything about it.
Nerfing stormdrakes and Translocaiton won’t bring SCE into line with some hypothetical middle pack; it will gut the army competitively, leaving it reliant on a) Scions Annihilators (killed by at least 3 battleplans let alone competent screening), or b) Redeemer wall. That’s the opposite of what you’re trying to acheive

Take out Translocation and Stormdrakes, and we’re back to a Scions bomb but with Annihilators instead of Gavriel; and like the last 3 years it is entirely at the mercy of TO whim.

Paladins would be pretty weak without some means of teleporting in 9" away from the enemy. If only SCE had some means to do that outside of translocation, combined with some sort of aoe charge re-roll it could totally do the trick since with more than one unit it'd be unlikely for all of them to fail. Would be even better if a particularly important unit could be brought in closer, like 7" or something. And I know a flat ability to run & charge or teleport mid-game without needing a roll would be too strong but 1/game abilities like that could go a long way if used tactically. Alas, SCE simply have no mobility tools beyond translocation.
(am i doing it rite? XD)

If I have the extra 15 points in a list, is it worth upgrading Vindictors to Sequitors? I have nothing left to spend and was wondering if it is even worth it.

What is everyone's opinion of the Knight Judicator?
I like him but needs a 20 point cut to be considered.

Yeah I get it logistics are screwed. But how does this shaft one of two releases that were both out at the same time?

Hello, till now i was mainly reading great posts from you.
I just want to ask why I am seeing +1 save stacking (castelant, all out defence, mystic shield..), isnt +1 gap in this edition ?
I want to paint some list and play with it for a while, so i did this list...I am not conviced for stormhost and I would apreciate some ideas with listbuilding. I was thinking droping Vindictors for some underworld bands and change retributors for protectors ??, and use spare point for some more magic, but i dont want to lose 2 units. Thx for reading ... (it scions of the storms)
Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals
- Stormhost: Hammers of Sigmar
- Grand Strategy:
- Triumphs:
Lord-Relictor (145)
- General
- Command Trait: High Priest
- Artefact: Arcane Tome (Universal Artefact)
- Spell: Celestial Blades
- Prayer: Translocation
Yndrasta, The Celestial Spear (320)
5 x Vindictors (130)
5 x Vindictors (130)
10 x Judicators with Skybolt Bows (400)
- Reinforced x 1
3 x Annihilators (200)
3 x Annihilators (200)
5 x Retributors (235)
5 x Retributors (235)
Holy Command: Thunderbolt Volley
Total: 1995 / 2000
Reinforced Units: 1 / 4
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 102
Drops: 9
You can benefit from max +1 save but that’s after modifiers.
If your save is 3+ with +1 save facing rend 1, you go back to a 3+ (+1-1 Net 0 save modifier).
But if you have +2 save bonus you effectively ignore rend 1 and go to a 2+ save (+2-1 net +1 save modifier).

I think so, too. Not trying to be mean; it's just the nature of this pay to win hobby, unfortunately.
Though I will say that so far the best 3rd ed Stormcast list I've seen has zero Thunderstrike models, and only 2 units from Sacrosanct - the rest are Warrior/Vanguard units.
What’s the list?

sure, the strongest lists out there will win against a list built under a lot of external constraints (available models notably). As long as this is clear from the start and you're not gunning for the podium, that seems alright?
Yeah but I am.
Sorry, don’t mean to sound ungrateful, but at this point I think my best choice is to drop out.

Lord-Relictor (translocation, general: reroll, Arcane Tome: Celestial Blades)
Lord-Ordinator
Knight-Incantor
2x5 Evocators (or 1x10 for stronger Translocation charges)
3x5 Libs
4x Ballista
1x6 Castigators
1975/2000
Any stormhost works
Archaon/gargants/morathi/gotrek/teclis are going to run over this list without breaking a sweat.

Off the top of my head you could do something like this
2x3 Dracolines
Arcanum on Dracoline
Gardus
Ordinator
4 Ballista
3x5 Libs
1955/2000
Can set up as a castle, or be aggressive with Dracolines and drop Gardus into play near them for that juicy 5+ Ward
If you don't want to play Gardus/HK you could use a Relictor instead
No Dracolines or gardus either 🤷♂️

Haha, I'm in much the same boat. At least I have longstrikes though, that should carry me a long way. You could hope that I'm wrong and Pj/jham are right.
I’ve actually seen some good numbers posted on Castigators, but at the same time that’s still only 200-400 points.

Right, lets see how many 3+ win SC lists bring castigators, ballistas or evocators. I wouldn't hold my breath.
As someone who owns lots of Evocators, ballista and castigators, and no Dracoths, protectors or Longstrikes, and can’t buy any big hammer annihilators or dragons because GW won’t sell them, and somehow has to write an event list, this really hurts. 😔
Like where do I even start?

Yea got an event for 09/10 which is now impossible to get a couple of drakes to. Then 2 competitive events in November which will be a true stamina test of painting, that is if they come up for preorder next and are not delayed even further... this GW release schedule is just infuriating, especially with 0 communication or expectations set, they just let people hope in vain.
It’s honestly infuriating

Stormcast Eternals 3.0 - There is no "a" in Vindictors
in Stormcast Eternals

Honestly Vigilors are a great support unit that are simply 10-50 points too expensive. Even then I’ve written them into most lists. I really want to pair them along side 6 Longstrikes.
