It doesn't make sense at all, IMO. For example, we have the Bestigors here: Bestigors (warhammer.com)

10 for 42,50. If they release them for TOW, the current pricing would be 20 for 62,50. So basically you get minis for half the price. Which would be nuts.

No no you see, the new boxes will say "TOW" on them and have square bases, and will forevermore be sold at half the price they were yesterday. It all makes sense!

The fact is that there's nothing to be gained from removing BoC from AoS, or "re-releasing" them for TOW. Anyone who wants to buy beastmen can buy them right now, immediately. And because they're old models there's no concerns about not basing up properly or whatever like you can argue for the new seraphon or STD models. Eventually I'm sure AoS will get around to making more new BoC models and those will not be usable in TOW just like the current AoS BoC models won't, but there's no gloom and doom in predicting the obvious.

Or if we believe the rumour from a couple pages back that BoC will be scrapped from AoS. Than there are no seperate boxes as AoS doesn't have them anymore.

I believe this rumor just as strongly as I believe Ogres and Giants were getting souped into one book.

Beastmen, is one of the core factions. From 20/01/2024 they are released and are in the Ravening Hordes book, exactly in the same way as Tomb Kings. Arcane journal is an extra supplement that gives you more options in different armylists, but all core factions will get their units, magic items and spells.

Yep, and everyone can buy their models right now, no re-release necessary. I'm being completely serious. Brettonia and TK were lines that were long out of production and had to be brought back online. BoC have literally never gone out of production, why yank them out of production for AoS so you can...release the exact same models that were available for sale the day before on the same store for TOW?

If anything it's a chance to re-release the old beastmen characters or make some new resin characters for them.

Older models currently in AoS will be dumped from that system and picked up by ToW.

Right right, that's why they dusted out the old metal treeman. It's a headfake for them yanking the Treelord kit away from Sylvaneth.

I fear that GW will sell two different versions of Chaos Warriors and knights for StD and WoC. I am an AoS StD player and I just looked at my StD Chaos knights and it seems almost impossible to rank them on a 30x60. So BoC is not in the same boat as StD.

At the rate TOW is going, they aren't going to get around to releasing BoC for probably years anyway. And the AoS BoC models are mostly fairly recent by WHFB standards. If they're willing to dust off those ancient TK skellies and the old metal treeman for wood elves there's really nothing stopping them from pulling out some really old beastmen models if necessary. If AoS BoC gets even a modest update with some updated -gors and heroes then all the easier for them.

This is just a personal view, but I think with AoS 4 fast approaching and with the launch of The Old World, 2024 is the time for some lingering band aids to be ripped off and for AoS to be finally be freed up from previous fantasy lines.

Grand Alliance Chaos - Blades Of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch, Hedonites of Slannesh, Maggotkin of Nurgle, Slaves to Darkness and Skaven are 6 clearly definied, setting specific factions that allow for ample creative freedom. With Skaven all but assured to be getting a full faction overhaul with the Launch of 4th, Beasts are the only real hangover from Fantasy.

GW have been very clear that ToW isn't a setting rife with demonic armies. Skaven are also not a significant force, but Beasts are listed as one of the main core factions. It's almost been completely spelled out by GW that this is what is going to happen. The only real question is how Beasts as a "faction" will be approached in AoS, will they be completely reminaged (With a new AoS name and minis or "rolled into" the exisiting Chaos factions with God specific units)

Grand Alliance Death - Flesh Eater Courts, Nighthaunt, Ossiarch Bonereapers, Soulblight Gravelords are once again, clearly defined setting specific factions, with it being spellied out, once again, that Vampire counts are NOT apart of ToW setting. Tomb Kings are the Undead faction of the Old World. No cross over...

Grand Alliance Order - This grand alliance is almost 90% "AoSified" with only Cities of Sigmar holding onto a handful of Dwarf units that are confirmed to be in ToW (My bet is they will not be in CoS 4 Battletome). It has been stated clearly that Dark Elves WILL NOT be apart of ToW and I think it is pretty clear that we will be seeing Malekith and his accompanying emo-elves appear in AoS, retiring or picking up some of the old Dark Elf units (My bet is these will also NOT be apart of CoS 4). Seraphon are an AoS faction now, 100%. Lizardmen have been stated to NOT be apart of ToW. Sylvaneth are already pretty far away from Wood Elfs and with the potential up coming Kurnothi it will further drive that distinction between them (Woodies have plenty of existing kits to draw from for ToW)

Grand Alliance Destruction - I think Ogors are on the AoS "refresh block" (and once again it has been made clear they are not apart of ToW) and I think we might see new AoS Goblins and the removal of Savage Orukks from AoS (to both be ported over to the Old World

So this is how I see it. Lizardmen, Ogors, Dark Elves, Vampire Counts, Skaven are not coming to the Old World. The PDF's are throwing the mouthy minority a bone. Dark Elfs, Dwarfs, Goblins and Savage Orks are going the way of the dodo. Beasts of Chaos are getting moved to AoS and there will be a plenty of kits that will be removed entirely and sent to the GW vaults.

A final point, I think doing this (and perhaps even more) would be a VERY GOOD thing. I would love to see some genuinely NEW factions and ideas in AoS. I'm not a fan of everything having to stay around for ever and people screaming bloody murder because a model isn't being supported 20+ years after it was first released. I have said it before, but I would advocate a continual culling of the bottom 10% of AoS on a YEARLY basis. Keeping the game, models and factions fresh. Like pruning a tree.

STD are also a core faction in TOW and they're not going anywhere in AoS. TOW is a specialist game that cobbled enough of a budget to put up three cheaply made plastic models for it's big game debut after five years of development. The idea that TOW is this huge mover and shaker in GW land that is actively driving massive development decisions for AoS, the much bigger and more established game, is, frankly, bananas.

Really? You don't remember when Ogors when gonna get souped with SoB? Dwarfs souped for sure this time? Every other time it was curtains for BoC? I can't remember a single time he was right about anything that wasn't common knowledge in this thread, IE Whitefang rumors and the like.

From The Honest Wargamer today's stream:

    - Snarlfang riders were intended for TOW  but ended up in AoS somehow.

    - BoC are very likely to be removed from AoS at some point.

Is there any prominent individual with a worse prediction track record than Honest Wargamer?

Bwoi they could have added another unit or lava creature instead of invocations. 😛

Another unit would be nice, but it's not the same as being able to summon a wall, an artillery piece or an attacking endless spell effect, those are things you don't tend to get from just regular boring old prayers.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the spider incarnate is shelved for something else later.

Between Brexit & Covid it probably missed it’s release window when we were still close to the Crawling Pits(underground place part of the fallen spider-Grot empire filled with giant spiders) when we were still mainly in Gnarlwoods & especially underground in Gallet and it’s big filled caverns.

And now we’re heading out of Thondia with the edition on the horizon about to fling us out of Ghur focus.

They probably planned on an Incarnate per season to up interests and flesh out the Realm per edition but that plan got skewed with all the global problems.

Pity but far from the first case of cut content. Hopefully whatever it REincarnates into is useful to a faction and they bounce back.

(on the Endless Spell front I’m 100% for them. They give factions much more flexibility and are easily some of GW’s best kit boxes full of great figures for both living spells rampaging on the eldritch Realmscapes and great kitbash bits for stuff like new Mega-Gargant weapons 💕)

As a Fyreslayer player alone I have to stand up for endless spells/prayers, it really adds a cool unique touch to the army that they wouldn't have otherwise.

I think Votann is a bad example of just................. well I guess everything lol. That faction is broken in pretty much every way. All their heroes pretty much have some weird ability or interaction that makes no sense. Their only named hero is easily in the top 5 worst units in the game. And I know because I play them....... I also play Tau so I never had a magic phase either version lol.

One of my last AoS games was Cities vs. tzeentch and that was a slog. 1 mage vs. like 7 is pretty boring on both sides so I can see how GW may want to change that phase.

Spreading out the magic phase like TOW did is one thing, not having a magic system at all like 10E is another thing altogether.

  11. 26 minutes ago, Luperci said:

I expect they won't do ToW system in aos 4th(spell cards) the reason we don't have them anymore for mainline games is due to printing and language accessibility iirc. I think there's a way wizards and priests could feel cool and flavourful without having their own phase.

Maybe, but I really need to emphasize that the 40K approach is really, unbelievably terribad. If they implement that system or something like it in AoS I will actually drop the game, I'm not kidding. Just to give an example, I happen to have a small Votann army.

In 9th edition I have one psyker choice, who has some nice flavor abilities, letting his little robot buddies assist him with using psy powers, a good warscroll ability, a nice selection of racial disciplines to choose from, good stuff.

In 10th edition, that one model has a shooting attack that's worse than just carrying a gun, an attachment ability like any other hero type has, and the ability to negate battleshock on the unit he's attached to 1/battle. That's it, that's literally it he just has a single crappy 1/battle ability as the only thing pointing to him being supposedly a model with psychic powers.

There are some factions that did better and have slightly more interesting "psychic" abilities, but just barely. You could simply remove psykers from the game entirely and it would change things only very slightly.

Makes me think they will follow the 40k system and just get rid of the magic phase altogether. Think even Old World got rid of the spell phase.

Units can still use spells, but they will be split up between all the other phases. Feels like they are pushing that way since so many new units getting amazing spells on the cards themselves.

Sort of insane that they would get rid of endless spells lol.

I hope not, what they did to psychic powers in 10th edition 40K is so bad it's tragic.  The TOW system looks a little more reasonable, at least.

You think there's still more Death heroes for book 4 ?

I mean, we have that Morghast Wing looking Rumor Engine, and every Dawnbringer book has come with at least two new heroes. Book 3 came alongside the full CoS release and had full AoR rules for two warcry warbands, and it still also came with Belthanos, Ionus and the Blacktalons. I highly doubt Book 4 only comes with one new hero, even if it releasing alongside FEC.

Las Vegas Open on the 18th.

All things considered, I don't think Dawnbringers 4 and FEC will go up for pre-order before then, so it makes sense that GW is not in a rush with AoS previews. At this point all we're missing is any remaining models that come with Dawnbringers 4 (if any) the next Warcry Box, and the graverobber guys for Underworlds. I don't think any of it will go up for pre-order before Feb or maybe late Jan.

After that we've got the probable announcement of Dawnbringers 5 and everything that comes with that, and anything else that needs to release before 4E.

I know 'another Fyreslayer Foot Hero' is a running joke now, but at least he's an improvement on the existing, admittedly kind of awkwardly posed, Runesmiter who comes with the Magmadroth.

And a Tau Ethereal, if you're into that.

I really dig both of these models. Shame it's so hard to get Store Anniversary models at least in my neck of the woods.

The Lion isn't a bad model at all, far from it, but it's wholly undeserved to see him take gold. My vote went for the Nurglite Harbinger and that would've been a much better winner. Time for wearing my tin foil hat: AoS is really underrepresented in these polls and they also look to be rigged as only the huge centrepiece models get to win, when some of the very best models IMO are just simple minis on foot. Composition, mood, etc.... you can't tell me Lion or Angron are better than the Harbinger. I mean you can but I'll refuse to agree! ;)

Gitzdee is right - next year it's gonna be Vulcan or Leman Russ or whomever else they bring back no matter how great some other minis will be.

I mean, speaking for myself I don't bother voting because I know it's just gonna be the newest Primarch or other hyped up 40K thing. It's not rigged but the outcome is never in question.

To me they haven't shown all their hand yet. It would feel weird to upgrade the horsemen but not the basic marauders... especially when the current marauder horsemen are younger than their foot marauder counterparts.

I see it as a 50/50 either making new Darkoath Marauders or just removing the basic marauders in favor of the existing warband.

If I recall correctly from the Lumineth tome, the spirit animal of the River Temple is some kind of pachyderm.

That's not quite correct, and it's not from the LRL tome. You're thinking of a White Dwarf issue giving expanded details on the LRL vs OBR war, which mentions that a species of aquatic pachyderms exist and are venerated, but it never actually confirms that they are the River Temple spirit animal.

I always found it an odd fit in any case, since Water Temple Devotees as I said earlier were described more as agile wardancer types from the very beginning.

  19. Speaking of River Temple, I should remind everyone that Stoneguard have bull crest helmets, and their spirit avatar is a huge bull. Windriders have a fox crest, and their spirit avatar is a agile flying fox. If River Temple have a dragon crest, does that mean their spirit avatar is a water dragon?

I could see the possible Lumineth model being our first look at a unit from the river temple, it does make some sense that a subfaction based around the concept of rivers/water might have a element of flowing dance like movements to some of their models.

The first tease we got about the River Temple, ages ago in the first LRL Battletome talks about them being lightning fast and graceful and implied dual-weilding blades.

These previews are always for minis coming in the early part of the year. Nothing from Leviathan was previewed this time last year.

Yeah reminder that last years teaser was just a Slaan, the new Skink Cav, and the champion models for the Vampire/Khorne warcry box. It's not intended to be an exhaustive list by any means.

Remember last year they showed a Warcry mini (the leader of the vampire warband) in the AoS "what's coming" video. They definitely could do it again for 2024... and we know next Warcry band are Order vs Death and NH haven't got one yet. So I'm betting the ghost is from the NH Warcry band.

Yeah at this point I'm thinking LRL vs NH for the next Warcry box, that's the ghost and the elf. I COULD see the elf being more of a wood elf wardancer instead, but the details to me suggest LRL.

Clearly a Nighthaunt. Warcry warband maybe?

Seconding Callis and Toll, Ghost does look like a troop so probably Warcry. Elf also kinda vague, I'm thinking Kurnothi over DoK or LRL, mostly because I'm pretty sure that's the furry boot RE, and then Darkoath Rider.
