  1. ...wondered why the post count spiked in here.

@The Red King feel you bro, this sucks big time.

I get why some ranges / models are being pulled (as they will get updates), but anyone genuinely thinking BoC and Bonesplitterz will be AoSified at this point is delusional. Even for the new lines or 1st -2nd edition stormcast, must be a huge kick in the teeth.

Am I right in thinking that all these Warcry models will now no longer be in production (I care less about them being in AoS or not). Because if that's the case, then that is really throwing the baby out with the bathwater, and would hurt two systems instead of one.

In either case, not much for me on the forum now.

    peace.

The warhound sad reacted my question. Beasts are being removed from AoS. I wish Games Workshop could go under without costing everyone else their toys because (this word goes against forum rules) that (this word goes against forum rules) company and its (this word goes against forum rules) cohort of incompetent (this word goes against forum rules) suits who don't give a (this word goes against forum rules) about the actual players and fans.

They don't deserve this world. (Warhammer not life).

I actually DM'd them with the intention on asking the same (think they may have thought I was trying to figure out their identity lol).

But I guess the writing is on the wall, considering the reacts and rumours that have been reacted to.

The lore does mention Men and beasts in the same sentence...

Could this be what they are turned into....

I would doubt that they 'turn into' the new BoC. Having horns, and mentioning beasts is likely a coincidence. If, however, that GW squatted beasts, then brought in the Silent People, I personally would be very baffled.

I still worry about how long the time is between "removed" and "reimagined" (looking at you Kurnothi!) And resent the way GW squatted high elves and couldn't be bothered to tell us "but don't worry we've got something in the pipeline to satisfy your high elf needs!"

That said whitefangs tertiary BoC react does lift my mood a little.

Similarly, I am a 'believe it when I see it' type person. I'd rather not build up hype for myself, only to be let down.

Not as far as I know. There might be a "your taking the ******" situation if you tried to buy way too many, but even then, as @Ejecutor says, people often buy them for other people who can't make it.

That said, I think the anniversary week ends in Friday, so if you can't make it up before then you might want to give them a call and see if you can reserve some minis (or pay for them over the phone and pick them up later). Would be a shame to turn up on Saturday and find you've missed out.

Great point. I just called them up and reserved a few, but they said you can buy a fair few (subject to availability). I wouldn't wanna go overboard though, just in case I get a few weird looks.

For anyone interested, they are available until Sunday, then they will be stopping the sell of them.

Probably not telling anyone anything they don't know, but if you live near Nottingham and want any (recent) FOMO minis there's a very good chance they are currently available at Warhammer World this week.

I picked myself up two Steel Rooks today. Tempted to pick up a second Darkoath warchief but decided one was enough. You can also get the Fyreslayer and Votann minis, as well as Inquisitor Cartavolnus, as well as many more.

And there was masses of stock in today.

was going to head up to Nottingham this weekend to grab a couple for myself. Do they limit what you buy from WHW?

I hate where beasts are at. I should be so psyched about these awesome models and already thinking where and how to convert them into beasts but instead I'm just sitting here thinking "did my army die for this?" And it's such a bummer.

I really wish Whitefang would debunk or confirm the "beasts are leaving AoS" rumor because not knowing is ruining the hobby for me.

    Feel ya, mate.

I am definitely continuing with all my BoC conversions, and tbh the Darkoath has me pumped to try out warcry now, but being in limbo sucks. I don't wanna get heavily into AoS (with BoC, which would be the only one I'd happily sink 2000pts into), because I:

    A. cannot justify buying models that were out when I was a teenager
    and
    B. know they'll likely get axed lol.

(with all that being said. that Wilderfiend is getting converted to no end...amazing sculpt)

I keep hearing that at LVO GW directly said the rumours of Beasts being squatted was incorrect. I don't know if it was on stream or in person.

Either way, would be pretty cynical even for GW to lie about that just so they can keep selling models before 4th Ed.

    Who knows though?

After seeing these reveals, the Darkoath to me look fantastic. Definitely will grab for some skirmish games for sure (might actually start Warcry). But I do agree with @The Red King. I think this is where the BoC aesthetic is being channelled.

If what you're saying is true, and they aren't canning BoC (I still think they will), then I'd then make the assumption that AoSified units will look more similar to that thing we saw leak than anything else, maybe dialled up a notch to be more...chaotic.

  9. Coming back to check in rumours. Any new news on BoC. Are we being squatted into ToW? or getting any range refresh/AoSification at any point?

Not holding my breath on them getting anything this side of the millennium, but good to ask..

Beasts and Ogors are the 2 Factions to me that NEED their range updated to reflect their lore.

This for BoC. Just have any sort of dynamism in the sculpts, to reflect the raiding / hit and run, or lean into the twisted mutation aspect.

Instead we have what (to me) feels like t-posing Gor and Bestigor coordinating axes.

Forever waiting for Skaven and BoC lol.

Yes I did, thank you! I have a lot of units sculpted+converted like this that have been waiting for the new book so I can determine new weapon load outs.

Must admit, mate. Followed you for the longest time. Amazing sculpting. Would love to learn from ya.

Given that I've impulsively ordered the new beastlord even though I don't have my first army sorted yet, does anyone know when the existing gors and other beastmen are from?

I remember they got a massive refresh shortly before I left the hobby as a young teen, but I can't remember what were the things that got updated and what they got.

Another related question, what are the odds of having beasts redone in the relatively near future?

From what I remember a lot of the sprues are from 7ED WHFB. See below (Sourced from Collector-Info and the citadel 2010 catalogue):

    - Bestigors, Gors and Ungors were updated and released in 2010.

    - Beastmen Chariot = Somewhere around 2005 (then repacked 2012)

    - Chaos Spawns = Somewhere before 2008

    - Beastmen Minotaurs = I believe 2011

    - Centigors = 2006 (then repacked 2012)

    - Doombull = 2012

    - Razorgor = 2012

    - Chaos Warhounds = 2008

    - Cygor / Ghorgon = 2011

    - Jabberslythe = 2012

These are directional, but I can remember (as a kid) when Gors and Ungors were the same sprue, but then they expanded it (around 2006 I believe. Most of the line are about 10-15 years old, so you would *hope* that the lines get refreshed. But I wouldn't expect them being refreshed for a few years at least at this point...

If in 4th Edition both these Factions get updated the amount of money that GW will make will be astonishing. Look how many people are hyped for Seraphon being updated, their sales are going to be insane. How many of us here will jump on BOC or Skaven if theyre updated?

I stopped playing AoS completely, because to me (even though I sit more on the modelling / painting side than playing), even though the rules for BoC are solid, I cannot justify using models that I bought when I was a child (at the price point that GW wants). If GW were to create more thematic, dynamic models (like Blood Bowl), and not static WFB models, I would be right back again (regardless of how they played on the table top). Ultimately I want to enjoy looking at the creations I have made. When you compare that to the vast majority of other lines in AoS, it really puts things into perspective.

Same for Skaven. I have always wanted to collect them, but the 50/50 mix of very cool modern models, and badly aged metal/finecast models puts me off completely.

(I also get why they might not have updated, priorities, COVID etc. Just my two cents on IF they were updated, would I come back).

The "era of the beast" as a marketing ploy is dead.  We got 1 incarnate and a whole lot of nothing.

The Sublime Desolation of Namibia's Skeleton Coast - The New York Times

Quite honestly I wish they wouldn't use any 'Era of the ____' type phrasing. I remember (maybe 2018?), When people kicked up a stink about Orktober (when they released a lot of vehicles, but no Boyz refresh.... hindsight on that one).

I think people have a tendancy to get way too overhyped, and then let down.

(Unless you're a BoC or Skaven fan. I will be the one broken record in the back of the room).

  16. So I want to have BoC Gors, Ungors and Bestigor that are more dynamic (I could ramble and grumble about no new unit models for BoC, but I actually want to do some hobby this side of the millennium). Ideally I would like to pose them running, attacking...just anything except a statue.

I am really not a big fan of resin (as I do like the GW aesthetic), and much prefer to use GS and plastic. So, the question is - does anyone have examples of more dynamic BoC posing (pictures or links), or how you would go about posing models in a more dynamic fashion in general? I would like to think that I am pretty decent with GS/conversions , so happy to take relatively advanced tutorials. If there are also any pictures, I would love to see them. I am not looking to make many models (as I will primarily be playing Mordheim and other Skirmish games), so any singular models would also work.

(currently thinking of buying some of the Blood Bowl Doom Lords from ebay, and hoping that they aren't huge in comparison).
