I think a big issue here is that whilst we had the big 40k rumour leak it started almost immediately. So it's easy to see how accurate it is because the only thing it got wrong was mistaking a fantastic conversion for an upcoming model. So with an AoS one of similar scope to be believable I'd want to see a timeline not just a mass of random ideas. But in the interest of tracking it we have from it:

Kharadon Overlords: Own battletome, female alt characters, new named character/leader

    Fyreslayers: Own battletome

Cities of Sigmar: big updated including new kits for Dispossessed, renamed as the Reforged

Chaos Dwarves are on the way (but no name listed for the faction)

    Silent People: Death faction

OBR: Mortek Archers, elite cavalry and Bone Dragon

    Gloomspite Gitz: Spiderfang update

    Seraphon: update in 2023

    Codex Daemons: four combat patrols

I'm not sure about the bit about IJ, Kruleboyz, Thunderstrike and Maggotkin boxes. It sounds to me like those would be vanguard boxes but the fact they say Death will get nothing and like it for now when we're reasonably certain Nighthaunt are in the pipeline seems odd. If they mean the battleforces we know that's completely wrong.

whoa, does this mean that they are consolidating daemons in AoS the same way they are consolidated in one book for 40K? Or do we think this is referring to the 40K book?

Most matt varnishes are not that durable. The most common practice for a good hard seal is to hit a model with a good gloss varnish (which is much more durable) then put a coat of matt varnish on over that to get rid of the shine.

Thanks, any suggestions for a strong gloss brush on varnish?

  3. Yah, I would’ve used my rattlecan Corax white which has never failed me if the weather permitted. Unfortunately the damage is done, lesson learned.

The paint job itself, while not the most durable, is gorgeous and I’m really reluctant to strip it and start over, so I I’m really asking if there is anything I can do now to make it more durable. Maybe a different varnish, or something else entirely I don’t know about. I’ve hit it with 2 brush on coats of Vallejo Matt primer, I cured the first coat for 4 hours and I’m gonna let the second coat sit for 24 hours. I’ll check tonight and see if it’s a bit better. Can I just keep applying varnish over and over to make it more durable ( so long as it doesn’t get cloudy), or with bum primer will it always chip?

    thanks

  4. Hi, quick question.

I primed my lord of change with a friends airbrush and a thin coat of Vallejo polyurethane white primer. We let it cure for 2 hours, and then airbrushed the basecoat Color of the model, followed by a light coat of airbrushed Vallejo varnish.

I noticed this morning that I was able to scrape the paint right off the model using my finger nail, so I hit it with a heavy brushed on coat of Vallejo Matt acrylic varnish. After letting it cure for the recommended ( on the bottle ) 4 hours, I was still able to easily remove paint with my finger nail. I just put on another coat of the varnish, but is there anything else I can use to protect the paints integrity? I’m not sure another coat of the Matt varnish is going to be enough, and I really don’t want to repaint the models since the airbrush paint job turned out so beautiful. I intend on playing (and transporting) the model frequently so I’d like it to be reasonably durable.

    Suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks!

  5. 2019 was an extremely productive year for me hobby-wise. I started up with AoS January 2019 after a 15 year hiatus from warhammer and started fresh with Gutbuster ogors. I bought, built, painted and based 2500 points of gutbusters, before I expanded into beastclaw  raiders. I bought 3 start collecting BCR boxes and built, painted, and based those as well totalling 4500 points of Ogor Mawtribes done. Around september I started my second army, Daemons of Tzeentch, and have managed to finish building, painting and basing 2 full daemons of Tzeentch SC boxes, 20 blue horrors, 20 brimstones horrors for a total of 2000 points. Currently on my paint desk is Kairos Fateweaver, and I have in box another SC daemons of Tzeentch, as well as another 10 blue and brimstone horrors. My short term goal is to get Kairos painted, and finish building and painting my tzeentch. Hopefully by end of February that can be done, leaving me with 3000 points of finished daemons of Tzeentch.

After that, I’m not sure what 2020 holds! I managed to game roughly once every 2 weeks in 2019, so it might be nice to get in even more gaming in 2020, but it’s tough with work and family. I did dig into all my old warhammer armies from the late 90s and I stripped down my Vampire Counts army (around 1800 points of legions of Nagash in modern value). I’ve managed to re-paint around 200 points of them, but the vast majority is just sitting primed and ready to go. I would like to finish them off in 2020, and run a retro army, but I’m super tempted to start an order army. I’ve been looking a lot at Idoneth or Cities of Sigmar living cities... but these pointy elves teasers definitely have my attention! Ahhh this hobby really is addicting.

I think all things considered, 2020 looks good! My main resolutions then are to A) Finish my daemons of Tzeentch army B) Raise my painting skills to the next level ( right now I’m at a, in my opinion, very solid table top ready standard. I’d like to get even better ) C) Finish painting my retro Vampire Counts army D) Decide on an order army, and purchase and build / paint it one box at a time ( bulk purchases put a lot of pressure on you )!

  6. Lol can you imagine you’re just a casual who came into that guys store to play a game of warhammer, and every person in the shop plays nothing but a 3+ keeper list.

maybe these hyper competitive guys have actually found the correct way to balance the game. Only play against the same army. Must get pretty boring playing 3 keeper slaneesh against 3 keeper slaneesh over and over again though.

Ossiarch Bonereapers are slated for October so Free Cites and Orruks will probably out by the end of September and Ogors will be in October to go with the box set along with the Bonereapers.

Where did you hear this? Or is this just a guess?

  8. Hi there,

i am ordering paints for my Pink horrors, and I want to do them very bright and “oldhammer” style.  I am looking for suggestions on how to achieve this with brush and citadel paints. I’ve attached a photo of kinda what I’m going for. My plan is to do the following, please critique.

    Primed with Corax White

Base coat of Emperors Children (2 thin coats... not sure if this will be enough though?? It’s a layer paint)

Wash with carrobourg crimson and Lahmian medium 1:1 mix.

Drybrush with fulgrim pink (maybe just edge highlights instead??)

    How does this sound?

    thanks for suggestions.

  9. I am seriously considering starting a GA Chaos army themed heavily around tzeentch.  The models I want to include in the army would exceed the max ally points for a Disciples of Tzeentch army. The battleline for the army will be, however, 3 units of Pink Horrors.

Pink Horrors know mystic shield and arcane bolt, but no other spells. Can they also take spells from the lore of change, since they have the tzeentch keyword, even though I am not running a tzeentch alliance army?

if not, pink horrors are pretty neutered in a GA Chaos faction then right? Is there any other spells they could possibly cast?

    thanks,

    Hello guys!

I'm pretty new to AoS (I'm a 9th age/8th Edition player). But I've decides to give AoS a shot. My idea was to start with Beastclaw, and I will make a Yheti based list. But I have a question. Yhetis can pile in up to 6", does it mean that I don't have to charge with them in order to attack? Do I just run and stay at 4" or 5" from an enemy unit? In this case enemy unit can not pile in before I do with my yhetis right?

    Thanks!

This is true. Yhetees will allow you to pick the initiative in battle, it’s one of their skills. You can also retreat with them out of combat into within 6 inches of a different enemy unit, and pile in, making them able to jump around between engagements.

Speaking of yhetees, does anyone know if the yhetee box comes with square or round bases?

I think that’s a nice balanced list (for BCR anyway!). Looking forward to seeing it take shape.

    Thank you!

I have a question for you guys about yhetee unit size. Since yetis don’t get any specific point reductions or stat bonuses for larger unit sizes, is it better to run them in fast hit squads of 3 instead of 6? Also, I feel like since they can really dictate the order of combat with their pile in rules, it actually makes sense to have smaller units jumping in and out of combat all over the map.

    Thoughts?

  12. I'm super excited, I picked up my first start collecting Beastclaw Raiders box yesterday! It looks like a fun box to build. My other army is a  2000 point gang of swamp themed Gutbusters, so I have some cool new options for allying as well. As you can tell, I really like Ogors lol.

I posted a hypothetical 2k list in this thread recently, and modified it ever so slightly based on the comments. My new goal BCR list is:

    1x Frostlord on Stonehorn

1x Huskard on Thundertusk w/ blood vulture

    4x Mournfang w/ Gargant hackers

    4x Mournfang w/ gargant hackers

    6x Icefall Yhetees

    6x Icefall Yhetees

    2x Frost sabres

    2x Frost sabres

I think it will give me enough bodies to hopefully contest some objectives, but should still hit pretty damn hard. Will keep the thread updated as I paint up the army!

Hey guys, has anyone tried running a leadbelcher gunline list?

Do you think it would be decent or just not enough firepower at too short range to go all in?

I actually really like Leadbelchers and try to take at least a 9 man unit in a 2000 point game. They are only 20 points more than regular ogors, but they have a great shooting attack and they have rend in both shooting and combat. The rend is so important, and has really delivered for me as regular ogors without rend can get tarpitted really easily by 4+ save units. The shooting is the icing on the cake, and on occasion can be really devastating. 9 of them eliminated an entire unit of 20 witch elves for me in one go for me once (they didn't move, and got off 34 shots).

It’s an interesting Beasts list - while he can get to objectives early, he can’t really hold them if you go in with strong numbers. The shaman and the Ungors will be hanging around the herd stone, leaving the only block as 20 bestigors. Buffed ogres can deal with those. You could consider:

    Tyrant

    Butcher

    12 ogors

    12 ogors

    12 ogors

    1500pts.

Alternatively, swap one unit of 12 for 6 leadbelchers and a couple of gorgers, if you want to be able to disrupt quicker.

Of course, if you only have 12 ogors but extra leadbelchers, I’d still consider running a main block of 12 ogors, they’re just really efficient for the points. Maybe in that case run your original list but with all 12 ogors in one unit, and then remove the maneaters and add a second unit of 6 leadbelchers. Belchers are not actually bad in melee, so don’t worry about using them this way, just think of any shots you get in on the way in as a bonus.

Thanks for the input. He definitely will have the objective advantage, the board control of the BoC army is just insane. Unfortunately I only own 12 ogors, so I figured I should separate them into two groups to try and grab different objectives. Is a unit of 12 not very unwieldly? Never played them that large before. doubling up on the leadbelchers is a possibility though - but I think I may need grots to shield a gun line of that size.

My original thought on the gorger and the maneaters was the added speed could help me keep up with the BoC. But now I think maybe I should just load up on heavy hitters and try and table him.

  15. Hey guys, I’ve got a game coming up this weekend. Playing 1500 vs beasts of chaos.

    2x bray shaman

    1x cygor

    1x gorghon

    20x bestigors

    20x ungors

    2 units of tzaangor enlighrened

    1 tzaangor shaman

    3x bullgors

Or something very close to this. It’s going to be much faster than me, with lots of deep strike capabilities. I’ve attached my list, wondering what you guys think? I’m worried I’m not going to be mobile enough, but I don’t have anything fast in my army. We will play an objective based game, so his speed, summoning and deep striking will be hard to deal with. Any general strategies or list comments? I also have more leadbelchers, Grots, and a giant at home I can sub in.

  16. Christmas came early boys and girls!!!!!! Lookin good for a Gutbuster tome this year!!!!! Time to finish off my army!

I’m thinking about adding 2 Gorgers for deployment shenanigans and speed. Anyone have any experience fielding one or two of them? Do they do better in pairs?

also, I want to add some artillery in case I feel like going ranged heavy that day. I’m thinking an ironblaster and a scraplauncher so that I can field both, or either one depending on the army I’m facing. Are they too inaccurate to be useful? The ironblaster seems good if you can point it at a unit of 10+ (reroll hits) but the scraplauncher seems really weak only wounding on 4s with no reroll.

  17. Hey BCR players, I’m looking at building up a BCR army and wanted your thoughts on this 2k list.

1x Huskard on Thundertusk w/ blood vulture (Everwinter master, pelt of charngar)

    1x Stonehorn Beastriders w/ Chaintrap

    4x Mournfang w/ Gargant hackers

    4x Mournfang w/ Gargant hackers

    6x Yhetees

    6x Yhetees

    6x Sabre tusks

    4x Sabre tusks

How do you think it will play? I didn’t want to focus just on behemoths, since I wanted to be able to actually compete over objectives.

Additionally, this will be my second warhammer army. My first is a 2k Gutbuster army that I love, but they can be a bit slow and unwieldly at times. Do you guys think they are too similar? I know the models are very similar, but it looks like they play quite differently.

Next year. This year slaves/darkoath in summer. Gutbusters around september. Slaanesh somewhere in there. Along with these weekly fillers

Whoa, how legit is the source for this rumour? Or is this just guessing? I’m dying for a Gutbuster battletome.

Any other rumours out there swirling about Gutbusters?
