Thought I would do a grand update to the 2018 what armies do you play poll. This would be the armies you consider your main/primary armies, since some people literally collect almost every army.

It bears mentioning that this time around I am only using the armies as listed on the GW website in the format they are listed on said website + the Legion of Azgorh from forgeworld, so please spare me the vitriol re: no Tomb Kings or Brets. I don't mean to cause offense.  If the armies are added back to the GW website for sale in the coming years I will certainly add them to the poll.

Also I have a link below to the google form as well if you want to use that but this will require a google sign in so someone can't submit their response 100 times etc.

    Cheers!

PS: A sticky would be rad!

I gave a sad face, because there was no 'All' option.

The Box looks great in my opinions. It´s nice that GW got 2 Boxes for all 4 Great Alliances (Chaos/Death with Carrion Empire) and now Destruction/Order. Also the selection of all of thoose 4 Factions is quite nice as all Factions deserved a bit more spotlight which they finally got :)

I loved the synergy with Carrion Empire that this brought.

Also, I loved noticing how well the Sylvaneth side doesn't overlap with the Start Collecting Box, so new players would be able to buy both and get a good collection/selection of everything to try out.

  3. A better preview for the Sylvaneth vs Gloomspite Gitz that was teased during Adepticon can be found here. Or you can proceed to the Warhammer Community page here.

You can then proceed to squee and get giddy about it by posting a reply in this thread :D

    Contents:

12-man Squig Herd, 10-man Squig Hoppers, *Plastic* Loonboss on Giant Cave Squig

    2 5-man Tree-Revenants, 3-man Kurnoth Hunters, *New* Arch-Revenant hero.

And to start conversation, is this box going to be as limited as Carrion Empire?

I guess the fact that all factions of dwarf players are somehow discouraged about their army or actually the ruleset is also the reason, why the rumour of a combined book was a hot topic here a month ago. While I understand criticism about it, merging 3 different factions back into one, it would allow smoother army building. In my opinion it would require a bigger merge, like the Gloomspite one, adding a load of new units to "forge" the new alliance into one factions.

Dispossessed are the old world dwarfs without all the cool siege machines. Ironweld is all the siege with none of the combat troops. Fyreslayers have good rules and good design, but are quite lacking in different types of models (and all of them are pricey to collect en masse too). KO have a good aesthetic and variety in models, but the rule set needs a complete rework since an FAQ neutered it. While it would help for army building to combine all four into a book, none of them have really interacted with one another in the fluff.

Then again, GW did just release FEC after adding one model that isn't available anywhere else, spells, and terrain, so I feel like it's very possible that Fyreslayers and Ironjawz don't get that much needed help.

A simple showing off and inspirational thread where those with 5K or more points in a single army (formal army not grand alliance army) can show off those huge model counts! Gives you an excuse to get the whole army on the table/floor/shelving and show it off!

Nope. I have 50k in total models, but not over 5k in any one army. My largest is Stormcast at 4K.

Theres no need to get the bouncer, I’ll see myself out := (

I'm thinking that with GW striving towards IP copyright, there's nothing unique at all about their assassin unit. So I think it's probably gone. Dark Riders will probably move to Darkling Coven, if only for the fact they share a box with the Warlock unit for DoK.

Considering the uniqueness of the Assassin’s rules (hides in a unit, deals d3 damage to a hero) and that the model is already a plastic kit leans me to wager it not getting scrapped.

  7. I’m also a person who collects all of the armies, so here’s my opinion.

Gitmob brings three things to the table:

    1. Grots

    2. Wolf Cavalry

    3. Artillery

The normal Grots are not as appealing compared to Moonclan.

The Wolf Cavalry are nice, but wolves are completely out of place in the Mortal Realms.

The Artillery was what normal Grots brought to the O&G Table. But that table is gone and every one of these models are old and made of the wrong material. AoS as a whole has a “We don’t know what to do with Artillery” issue. They don’t make it strong enough for the points they place it at for fear of a gun line, so I usually skip the section, which is a shame.

Ive ruled out all three, but here is the saddest fact of all; If you bought a lot of Grots recently, you probably bought the O&G half of Skull Pass , which means that you ended up with Moonclan and Spiderfang Grots. Thus, I’m betting that unless you are a really old fan, you probably never bought a box of plain ole Grots, and GW’s research shows it.

    High Risk of Squatting:

    - Greenskins

    - Shadowblades

    - Lion Rangers

Greenskins are a yes for squatting, even if they have a Start Collecting when many other armies don’t (Daughters, Idoneth).

Shadowblades gets folded into whatever becomes of Darkling Covens. It’s a Dark Rider (part of the Doomfire Warlock box) and an Assassin (1 model).

Lion Rangers... depends on if High Aelves get a legion faction or not. On the one hand, the kits they have are plastic and nice. On the other, they aren’t adding anything to those kits, and there isn’t much to build the Lion Rangers into the “Souls stolen from Slaanesh” narrative. So logically, they are gone too.

They just renamed the big boss on spider and shaman on arachnarok.

They confirmed yesterday that Scuttlings are not in the battletome, because they are out of production.

I had the feeling they were flushing an idea away by merging Spiderfang into Gloomspite.

At the start of the game, you’ll pick a corner of the board for the Bad Moon to start in. Starting from the second battle round, it’ll begin to move from one corner to another – offering enhancements to Gloomspite Gitz units that are wholly within the board segment it’s currently shining on.

    GloomspiteArmyRules-Jan2-BadMoonMap12mt.jpg

Enemy Units anywhere on the board are bombarded with meteors from the Bad Moon, and take damage.

Gloomspite Gitz Wizards under the Bad Moon get +1 to their casting rolls, while all other wizards get -1.

Gloomspite Gitz Generals get an additional command point in each hero phase they’re under the Bad Moon.

Squigs under the Bad Moon can advance and charge in the same turn.

Moonclan Grot units re-roll hit rolls of 1.

Spiderfang Grot units deal mortal wounds on a 5+ to hit, rather than a 6+.

Troggoths can re-roll the dice to see if they regenerate wounds, or double the results of their first roll.

This could mean anything from everything on the Board Segment, or the player gets a Bad Moon shooting attack at a unit of their choice that is anywhere on the battlefield.

I also can't tell, but is it locked on the diagonal? Is there a center stop point? How does it move?
