  1. There's a leather strap and a ring attached at the base of the Blade thingy. Meaning it could be hanging from something, and they're messing with the angle for the photo. My first thought was Seraphon or Necron, but the weird PlayStation-style button symbology is throwing me off.
  2. Oh by the soul of Max Schreck, if only this would come true! In the meantime, check out a miniwargame called "Carnevale" They have a Strigoi faction that I dip into for vampire models. I run them as units of Vrykos blood-borne.
  3. Wasn't there an older rumor thread that looked like a vampire/ghoul hand, resting on the pommel of a sword? I feel this hand loosk similar. New Ghoul king sitting in a throne perhaps?
  4. I never thought about that... Having the Gargants constantly retreating would be so frustrating (and a good way to annoy your fellow players). I wonder if its a large problem outside the tournament scene? Sons of Behemet is the only AoS army that's not represented in our local meta, so I've haven't really seen them played outside of Youtube battle reports, or as individual models run as allies/mercenaries.
  5. Problem is the "new" chaos knights came out in the slaves to darkness starter set, what? A year and a half ago? I couldn't wait that long for the multipark kit, so I found some other models to supplement the knightly ranks of my Tzeench-themed Slaves to Darkness Army. Say hello to my Corrupted Palladors! All full of Tzeenchy goodness
  6. Heck, I wouldn't have ever picked up Warhammer Age of Sigmar if it wasn't for some pictures I saw online of Chris Tomlin's Ironjaws conversions. Tracking more of those photos down led me here, and started my fall down the rabbit hole of tabletop wargaming. Now I've got multiple armies, a plastic pile of shame, and a lot of fun!
  7. Honestly I use this specific thread as my AoS news outlet, for all things interesting AoS related. I love the rumors, but honestly, AoS rumors/spoilers have been very thin this year, and I enjoy the occasional tangents this thread takes. DO I want this thread to evolve into a deep dive on the games tournament Meta? No. Do I enjoy a dip into those waters for a page or two of discussion here? Absolutely! Now if GW would just hurry up and leak some info for Warhammer Day next week, we could all get on to speculating on what cool models we might see during the presentation!
  8. Eldritch horror and related cultists would be fantastic. Would love to see them as a new Grand Alliance, and not just a new chaos flavor. Heck, their appearance could shake the foundations of the Mortal Realms and cause the current system to collapse. Create an all new Grand alliance system for 4th edition in 2 years.
  9. Ehh, to each his own. At this point id take any new design space for AoS, and a mindless swarm army would be an entirely new design space for AoS. I mean how many humanoid smash things type factions can you have? Some sort of non-humanoid faction would be a welcome change, and there's been clamor for some version of the Silent ones for some time now. A vehicle heavy army would also be another welcome design we don't see much of. Either skygrots, industrial dwarves, Ironweld legions, or even vampire pirates could fit the bill. I mean we've already got various flavors of good humans, bad humans, snakey humans, pointy eared humans, short hairy humans, rat humans, greenskinned humans, cow humans, large humans, huge humans, scaly humans, dead humans, on and on and on... Only Sylvaneth, Kharadron Overlords, and Chaos Demons really feel like a unique design space apart from the others. And I guess heavy beast factions like Iondeath deepkin and Seraphon also provide some new design space. Whatever we get for the next AoS army, I hope its something unique and refreshing, and not a re-tread of what we already have. Let those GW modelers and sculptors branch out and create some truly awe inspiring models, lets see where they can go!. And for all your various humanoid flavors, don't worry Warhammer the Old World is coming up fast, and you can get re-treads of all your classic factions you already bought 20 years ago
  10. "chaos" dwarves are by definition chaotic, and therefore in Chaos 🤔. I can't imagine they would relaunch them and ditch all the Hashut chaos god connections. Destruction has an identity problem, as its a very narrow focus, and tends to pigeonhole armies into Orruk clones (ie brutish rampaging forces of destruction). That's an issue that's been discussed here in depth before. The only easy design space I see left for destruction that gives a portrayal vastly different than brutish, smashy humanoids is a devouring swarm type army ala-tyrranids. Something like a horde of mindless locusts that devour everything around them, with no thought of morality. With the rumored 40K 10th edition starter box supposedly being Tyrranids vs. Blood Angels, I would love to see a tyrranid line revamp that crossed the 40K/AoS barrier, similar to how chaos demons work. Hordes of the "Silent ones" awaken, answering some primordial urge (like cicadas) and swarm up from below ground, devouring all that's in their path. New Hormagaunts and Carnifexes, and a pile of other new bugs to terrify the mortal realms. Doesn't even have to be tyrranid related, but if I was GW, I'd link the two lines and promote my unique IP for increased exposure and sales. How's that for a Rumor? 🤪
  11. You know, I think I'll still bet on Lumineth. They've had multiple releases now, lots of models, and I feel like they're the new upcoming poster children of AoS. I'm betting a force based around a different element, Wind? with a bunch of those hurricane kangaroo riders and a spirit of the wind. And Ill go out on a limb here. I went back through to 2016 and all the chaos factions have had a box. Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeench, Slanesh, slaves to darkness and even Skaven. But do you know ho hasn't? Beasts of Chaos. So my prediction is that the true meaning of 2022 Era of the beast, is a Beasts of Chaos Battle Force for Christmas!
  12. Nothing that I've heard yet. IF I had to guess, I'd look at whatever armies came out in 2020-2021 that don't already have a battlebox. Lumineth realmlords and Kruelboyz i'm guessing. And we didnt get a Stormcast box last year, so were due for one thisyear. Probably with Vanguard troops and perhaps one of the mounted dragon models. Anyhow thats my guess.
  13. I imagine we'll get some new steam tank or similar kit. But Nothing on the scale of a Cog Fort. Cog forts are gargantuan aren't they? Like entire fortresses on wheels type huge (ala "Mortal Engines") Like larger than a Gargant huge. Its hard to get something of that scale to work in a 32MM game. It almost needs to be a terrain piece. Of course if you have a 3D printer, you don't have to wait for GW's release. One page Rules "Duchies of Vinci" has a great steampower aesthetic. Iron Horses, Cog Forts, gezzails, siege weaponry, fantastical designs inspired by DaVinci sketches. Our local Meta ditched warhammer 40K for the time being and is now running primarily Aos and OnePageRules (with a bit of warcry thrown in). One of our crew runs an AOS "Cities of Sigmar" army using the Dutchies of Vinci as proxies.
  14. If they're including in a few more bots a bobs in the Brodd kit that pretty cool. Though at some point I think it would have been better to just make a new body sculpt for King Brodd, and include 2 alternate non-unique builds as well. That way you don't end up with 6 mega-gargants on the table, all with the same awkward leg pose like a giant sized choreographed Thriller dance 😁
  15. I'm going to go out on a limb here, those "feathers" have a dot on them near the tip, that looks raised as opposed to painted. Almost like a bolt or rivet. I could see this as having a metallic vibe. Could we be looking at some sort of sail or rudder? Is it some weird sail from the ash wastes for necromunda? Is it the rudder on a Skygrot airship? Are the Iondeath Deepkin about to get elite sailboarding shock troops? Or are we looking at the cybernetic implant mohawk (ala Yondu from guardians of the galaxy) in a brand new 40K Seraphon Army?? Crazy ideas, I know, but this rumor engine is intriguing to me.
  16. A pair of butterfly like wings or; A feathered Mohawk or; The frilled ear of a giant salamander ala some other seraphon monster A fin from a new Iondeath deepkin fish beastie. The feathered front hand from some sort of raptor/archaeopteryx type dinosaur A lady's ornamental feathered fan, or one made of steel blades for assassination.
  17. Arent the current models older than dirt? A unit buff could be in preparation for the release of a newly sculpted flamer unit. Between 40K demons codex and Tzeench codex, there's certainly the possibility of a new sculpt. Though I wouldn't bet on it (unless I had a pile of fate dice that is 😎).
  18. Its just keeping with the current Cities aesthetic. I'm sure the arquebus will be for expendable peasant conscripts; the weapons are simple to manufacture and cheap to produce. Higher end/more experienced troops or mercenary companies will be armed with more advanced flintlock weaponry is my guess. Finally the elite troops and engineers will be armed with the most advanced weaponry and steam technology. I'm betting we're getting an entire re-imagination of the whole Ironweld arsenal models. Aren't they all from the old world anyhow? Time to retire those models and resculpt them for a new generation.
  19. The gun-pike in the picture has a rest on the underside. Historically those types of Arquebus were used in conjunction with a large shield or "Pavis" that the shooter stood behind. Sometimes there was a second man behind the shield who was responsible for moving the shield and reloading, or had a second arquebus
  20. Well, perhaps we'll see some comprehensive artillery rules. Though if this release is 2 years off, it could be the launch army for AoS 4th edition
  21. Want to fix Artillery? Give it an area of effect instead of a single target. Fixes the whole one shot problem, and makes that one shot actually scary.
  22. Any that contain primarily Ironjawz units Not sure what's running in the tournament scene, but I run a primarily Ironjawz big Waagh with a Sloggoth thrown in for the buff aura, and its a strong enough list that in my local meta I've had to shelve the army for a while. I imagine the tournament guys really take maximum advantage of all the bonus movement shenanigan's that Ironjawz get. The triple commands for 1 CP from a Megaboss on Krusha is brutal to play against. Toss a second megaboss in there (foot or Krusha) and half your army is guaranteed to have either "all out attack" or "all out defense" active every combat round.
  23. What's up with Deepkin? When was their latest Codex update? It just dawned on me I don't hear much about them here, and none of my local meta plays them. I havent seen any new models for them in a long time on the community site, so I guess I'm out of the loop on where they are as an army. Time to do some research I guess.. Wonder if its a good time to pick up a used army?, My wife doesn't play AoS, but she does enjoy painting. She likes the fish elves, perhaps I can get a 1000pt painted army out of it. 😘
  24. So the scuttlebutt in the rumor-world is that 10th edition will be a complete rules revamp, not backwards compatible. That fints the pattern of previous editions, GW seems to alternate between backwards compatible and complete revamps for 40K editions. If that's the case, I expect that 10th edition 40K will take up a huge amount of next year's resources, as GW is going to want to re-release updated codexes for their most popular factions as quick as possible. So generic space marines will probably get the Soulblight Gravelords treatment (10th edition compatible codex) right at the end of 9th edition. Then Blood angles, dark angles, space wolves, Orks, Ad Mech, Eldar and other popular factions. AOS will get a big winter release with Slaves to Darkness, and then some late winter codex. After that I think 2023 will be 40K all the way until the fall of 2023.
